Love this 1958 edition which is full basic! Manual seat adjustments and cloth seats. Perfect!
No seat motors to replace down the road if you plan on keeping it (and no worry if seat motor dies at the wrong position). Also, no monthly leather care maintenance and no worries if your keys are clipped to your belt. Nice to not have to worry about delicate seat material when you go off-roading.
The base is what I’d want. Wish you could tick a few more option boxes with it. Something between the base and the mid trim would be nice. Like adding the sway bar disconnect, color options, the rigid fogs, and color matched front bumper.
For the price, the 1958 should’ve come with the bigger screens. Car manufacturers need to stop making two different size infotainments and filling the empty space with plastic, especially when they ask almost $60k for a base model. Also, the appeal of the 1958 is the off road ability and it doesn’t even come with A/T tires.
Lol and in essence, the 4Runner in ANY trim level is supposed to be lower than the Landcruiser, but the screen is larger than the top end Lexus GX 😂 ... I don't get that at all. The 4Runner is related to the Landcruiser and GX even though it is shaped differently.
No thanks, I like the 1958 BECAUSE it has small screen. Not everyone wants screens everywhere
Smaller screens and utilitarian features are fine, just dont charge 60K !
As a 6'5'' tall person, I really appreciate the info on how you fit in cars that I haven't been able to try out. Thanks.
KBB have great articles on the best cars for tall and short people, so I think they totally get it is an issue for car buyers, which I appreciate.
I look forward to seeing Mr. Danger in front of the camera because I'm tall. It gives me an idea if I'll fit or not. LOL Thank you, sir. 👊🏽 Awesome video.
I still don’t get the point of this vehicle when 4Runner and GX exist.
Think of it this way 4Runner is for the yeeter in your life GX is for the rich daddy you know The Land Cruiser fits in between, offers a lot of great on road comforts, better daily comforts then 4Runner, but still very very capable off road
This should have been about 40k. Bare bones.
I really appreciate you showing us how your 6'4 frame fits in the new Land Cruiser. I always have hard time judging how I will fit in a vehicle that cannot sit in yet.
They should have brought back FJ too!!
Wait for it…
isnt this a 4 door FJ?
where would it fit in the lineup? this is basically the new FJ
This should be an FJ not a Landcruiser
Great video!
Great review as usual. I can see this being a viable off-roader for those who love the sport. Thanks for providing all the details. Waiting to see how it performs on-road.
About time they let the brother do the reviews! 💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽
A base Land Cruiser costs about the same as the fully loaded TRD Pro version of the new 4Runner. The two vehicles are basically identical other than the looks. Not sure why anyone would pay all that money for a Land Cruiser with no options compared to a far more luxurious 4Runner TRD Pro with all the bells and whistles.
Exactly! And if people want full on luxury they would go for the Lexus GX. What’s the point of a 60k Landcruiser with cloth seat and a tiny screen compared to the fully loaded 4Runner, or a 80k fully loaded Landcruiser vs a similarly priced Lexus GX that are even more luxurious. I don’t get the point of this thing. 🤔🤷♂️
Exactly
You scratching the plastic at 3:39 made my skin itch and my ears bleed 🤣
Oh my. 91 octane. Another reason to get the 200 series. Plus is built like a fortress. This is not even close.
I'm just trying to figure out where this fits in the lineup, especially seeing the 4Runner. I personally would just hold out for the 4runner.
The Toyota New Global Architecture-'F' platform has a "factory-offered, soft, flexible, long-travelling, leaf or coil-sprung suspension setup". Something that was last seen on the Peugeots 404, 504 & 505.
we get latest gen 300 series in australia. Thats the one to buy. I was sold over the driving feel of that car. It felt you are sitting on your sofa and cruising on the highway. hahaha. it is fun.
Why did they not include off road-ish tires on a vehicle that they clearly produced to go off road?
Because the fuel mileage would be different than what is on the sticker which represents what is achievable. When the customer buys off road tires themselves, they know the miles per gallon will take a hit.
Probably because hardcore off-roaders have a tire preference in mind already and were going to swap out the tires no matter what. Even the OEM Open Country ATIIIs on the GX Overtrail are compromised for fuel economy purposes.
This is the vehicle Jeep should have built
I love the 2,400 watt 120 volt outlet, but it should be optionally more. The hybrid f150 offers 8,000 watts. If the Toyota offered say 4,000 watts (bigger inverter from factory) I would get one immediately. Imagine powering your home with a quiet reliable vehicle with a 25 gallon gas tank in a power outage.
so it shares the body structure with Tundra, so noisy brakes at cold morning and wind noises at 70 mph, perfect
Unfortunately, we’re being lied to. This is the Land Cruiser Prado. Not a real Land Cruiser.
Thank god we don't get a 3rd row. Moms don't need another mall crawler.
I'm surprised that roof rails are not standard...whats up with that?🤔 Even a base model should have them. I like the design and its overall capability. I can see these modified for over-landing.
To the costco parking lot*
Where's Micah Muzio? 🤔
rear seats don’t lay flat for sleeping in the back when camping and overlanding - on the Land Cruiser or the new 6th gen 4Runner. This is a massive fail on Toyota’s part, lots of people including myself use the back for this purpose. Hopefully they’ll fix it after the Overlanding/Camping community all complains about this missed mark. It makes no sense that they didn’t think about this
Looks like 2nd Gen honda Pilot
What's wrong with plastic? Don't understand why it's an issue.
For a $55k plus vehicle, it’s nice to know you get the prime cuts and not leftovers. Soft materials can help justify such a high price tag. Would you pay $100 for rump roast or prime rib?
@@yesmikedanger gotcha
American comments here are so bitter/ negative😂 they think their 4runner is king.. Land Cruiser is king, it has been in production since 1951, a fu**ing LEGEND. 7+ decades already and still the best. 4runner is great too I get all of that, but it's basically an imitation of the Land Cruiser
Every comment is like: "Why would I get a Land Cruiser over a 4runner?" DO YOU KNOW HOW FREAKING STUPID YOU SOUND?? Anyone would love to have a Land Cruiser over a 4runner
Looks similar to a tata sumo in shape.
Rather get a used 200 series. Same price now.
I love the exterior design but I feel like just about everything else is a flop 🥴 The interior seems so dated and cheap already especially in the 1958 trim which for the price… 😬 The rear seat configuration and truck space utilization seems wasted. I’d imagine it’s due to off-road something or other but I can’t look at it and think “modern, refreshed, well thought-out”. Tis disappointing considering how cool the exterior is. 4Runner definitely seems like a better package overall which might be intentional 🤷🏻♂️
3 year hiatus??? that os not a replacement for the Land Cruiser 200.... the Land Cruiser 300 is the replacement for the 200!!!
wtf is that cloth seat?!
Fully loaded 4runner or this 😂
Toyota makes no sense because the 4Runner will affect the sales of the Land Cruiser.
Base Model interior is 🤢 for a vehicle that costs that much & is the “flagship” SUV or used to be
I don't like it. Grand Cherokee is a much better offering, the price difference is $20,000.
I'll keep waiting for the auto industry to break out of the optimization cycle and offer a new idea or two.
What
Good lord that price. No, thank you.
Toyota marketing is reaching Apple's heights by selling plastic for 57,000 USD
Have you seen Rager Rover? Cost thousands more and a lot less reliable.
Thank you for proving my point. Land Rover is junk no doubt, but Toyota uses reliability to justify low value and high price in your mind
They didn't put the third row for America because they know Americans won't fit anyway 😂
A 4 cylinder Landcruiser is a Big No
55k+ for a base model? Really? Thats a joke. What a disappointment.
NO PRICE TOO HIGH
Cloth seat and manual seat adjust are joke in 2024 especially it is one of Toyota’s expensive vehicle.
Too bad no 3 rows
That screen around the bezels.. classic stupid toyota.
Wtf? Is toyota stupid? This thing is ugly in and out and i would of never guessed it cost that much! Thats nuts oh and a 4 Banger lol
Land Crusier Land Crusier 🤦
It’s just lend cruiser PRADO 😂
They made it cheap. Kind of weird because they have a 4Runner to sit in it's category already
