  • You have to do the dance when you hear this song, haha. I've always loved their groove, and high energy funk sound. As a midwesterner with Minnesota ties, I am glad Prince gave these guys the exposure they deserved back in the day. They were HUGE in Minneapolis back in the day.

  • MERCY! Morris Day & The Time brought the soulful, fun funk! And the Foo Fighters rocked furiously hard! It's amazing that the man who co-wrote "Jungle Love" and "The Bird" also wrote "Darling Nikki". Prince was a revolutionary who was one of the greatest artists in popular music history.

    • Let's give credit where it's due: Prince didn't write "Jungle Love" or "The Bird." While his name might appear on the credits (with Morris and Jesse Johnson), both songs were written exclusively by Time guitarist Jesse Johnson. It's not uncommon that when a bandleader/producer records a song they didn't write, the songwriter of that song has to give the one running the show "a taste"--in this case, Jesse had to share a portion of the songwriter credit with Prince...

  • My favorite group, songs, best moments from my college years in 1982. Every college kid would be on the floor dancing Jungle Love with, or without a dance partner. Most innocent times of our young lives thanks to Morris Day & the Time. We all genuinely tried to emulate him.

    • I'm not 100% sure it's the entire original lineup. Pretty sure that The Time's original guitarist, Jesse Johnson, isn't left handed. And typically played a white Les Paul (if my memory serves me). Or was it pink...hm. This guitarist sounded all right. Kinda hard for anyone to be Jesse Johnson though. But really? Who can be?

  • Morris and Jerome. Thank you for bringing soul to the Phoenix Arizona desert, when I was in High school. It was Prince, Vanity 6, Morris Day and the Time. Little did you know. Seeing all of you made famous history with my brother and I. All the way to the movie industry and the White House. And just to think, some friends and family. Made fun of us for loving all of you. They are speechless now. I remember being told, " Turn that mess off."! Many times when playing my records, LOL. Now the elders say, I'm sorry. They were talented people. Referring to Prince, Morris Day & Time, Vanity 6. God bless you Morris/Jerome, Prince, and Denise Matthew, and Vanity 6 band group. Our age group will never be forgotten for a unbeatable funky sound.
