  • My go to for chips is a prep pen/spot sanding pen. Highly recommend if you haven't tried it - it has a tip made of stiff fiberglass strands that allows you to sand all the rust and crap out of the chip very easily without marring the finish around the chip.

  • What do you do if you applied too much paint to one spot and its dried and dripped? Do you wet sand it again to get rid of the drip mark? Lastly before i do damage...whats the grit of sandpaper what buffs out with polish? scared to go in with sand paper on my car haha!

    @X055_s5@X055_s52 жыл бұрын
    • It depends how bad the run/drip is. A big mistake people make is not using a low enough grit and end up rounding it off rather than flatting it. If its a very bad drip I've been known to use 600 grit, 1000/1200/1500/2000 then polish. Most runs if they are not too bad I can usually knock down and skip the 600 and 1000. If you burn through the lacquer then you will need to key up the area and apply more base and clear again. Ie repeat the repair process again. Make sure all paints are dried thoroughly before flatting and any re attempts at refinishing.

    @perrostupido@perrostupido3 жыл бұрын
    • Hi mate, I may do a video in the near future explaining why touch ups wont work or give the perfect results people crave. Its a very colour dependant process and one method may not suite all paint colours and types. Your best bet is to make sure the chips are nice and clean and smooth (like in the vid), then the best method is to mix up some colour that is as close as possible using a base white with tiny amount's of black and a mustardy colour to change the colour slightly. Anyone with a solvent paint scheme can do this. I have touched in literally thousands of cars and tried everything and every method. This method works the best on pearl whites and 3 stage colours. It wont be perfect, but neither will anything else!
