    • I binge this game for a week or 2 every couple months. There are of course issues with the majority of the game. Hit reg just turning off (very very occasionally, but more than most games) , and some horrific map design. Every map that has come out post launch has been very good! Game has very good movement and it’s still battlefield at its core. It’s good for farming enemies being that it has strictly CBMM. I find the game fun and satisfying.

    • Right? The main failing point of 2042 was that it tried to take ideas from all the games popular on twitch and awkwardly jam them in to a BF format. It seems hard for me to believe that Dice didn't listen to the streamers, when 2042 came out copying Valorant, Siege, Warzone, and Apex which were all the popular Twitch games at the time. Obviously Dice wanted in on the free marketing of Twitch, consulted a bunch of streamers, and ended up copying all the games they were playing almost exclusively. I find it hard to believe that Dice didn't listen to them, and I have a feeling streamers just don't want to admit that they are not game designers, and they do not actually know what players want to play or what goes into game design. I full heartedly believe Dice did what the streamers said, and got the result they did because of it, and streamers are like "that's not actually what we were saying" because they don't want to realize that they maybe gave input on a game they really don't ever play. I mean it seems pretty coincidental that the only game they consulted streamers on has this issue.

  • @15:35 actually, the specialists were *not* inherently also classes. If you remember 2042 early days, every random soldier regardless of which specialist was running AA rocket launchers. Made it impossible to assess what kind of fight you're going into when every member of the enemy team could be carrying any type of equipment.

    @effyeadude@effyeadudeАй бұрын
    • They kinda were classes, all of them could fit into one of the 4 traditional classes and were kinda designed around them, but due to the freedom to use any gadget and any weapon, almost no one would ever pick a healing crate or an ammo crate, as you could just take c4, a rocket launcher or armor plates to help you do better. also, the second point does not matter, your not gonna look from 100 meters away if the enemy is a assault or a medic and completely change your gameplan around that, their still getting shot the same.

      @Thedefenses@ThedefensesАй бұрын
    • @Thedefenses I disagree. In my 14,000+ combined hrs in BF titles from BFBC2 through BF1, I would consistently identify an enemy squad's composition and target their medics first, and hunt for spawn beacons and TUGS if I saw recon. Also, they only became classes when DICE locked certain equipment to specific sets of operators. Additionally, having 128 people using the same exact operators and skins made identification even harder, whereas before your enemies were distinguishable solely based on their kit and their uniform design (See examples in every other BF title since the original 1942)

      @effyeadude@effyeadudeАй бұрын
    • @@effyeadude The only time i react differently to an enemy class is recon, and that's only due to the spawn beacon, otherwise its what ever. over the 550 hours in the franchise, i have never cared if what i am fighting is a medic, assault or a support, most of the time recon is also whatever during the fight, only after does it matter. the kill times are always fast so the enemy having an smg, AR or a dmr does not matter much, same time it takes for them to die, sure i fight different if i am at long range with a smg, but that more due to my own weapon than the enemy, no real reason to shoot at some one if you can´t kill them. if i really am gonna go into a full room, see a full 4 man squad sitting in there, sure targeting the medic would be wise, but as of current battlefield, everyone can revive, albeit slowly, so its best to just kill anyone that comes to sight, not take valuable time and search for the medic that most of the time is not even there due to how rare seeing them is often.

      @Thedefenses@ThedefensesАй бұрын
    • @Thedefenses idk I guess you have a different approach. The overwhelming majority of long-time Battlefield fans would likely agree that they took a step back in the class system after BF4, which wasn't perfect itself, and 2042 was such a departure from what was a tried and true component of the franchise that it soured most of us BF veterans who mained these games for years.

      @effyeadude@effyeadudeАй бұрын
    • @@Thedefenses On battlefield 3 days, classes mattered a lot to me, I almost only played as a heli pilot,(little bird, z-11) and I use to get very close to the enemy team. Knowing which class I was shooting at changed a lot they way I approach them, I would never go on a straight line against a Engineer, never got to close to a US Assault (they would laser me with the m16a3) and was way more carefree against the Support and Recon.

Shroud has no idea what he is talking about when it comes to battlfield and it shows in this video. Shroud saying “who cares” about BFV being historically accurate. Majority of the community cares, shroud. Saying battlefield 4 is overrated is the worst possible take I’ve ever heard. Battlefield 4 was way ahead of it’s time and still holds up to this day. Saying “who cares” about dog tags is ultimately cringe. He clearly has no idea what he is even dabbling into. Dices first mistake was coming to people like this for “advice” about their game. The class system is a fundamental function to battlefield. To this day on 2042 you will see “medics” with snipers and ammo boxes…. Shroud. You have no idea what you are speaking about yet you flap your lips like you own this shit. You clearly haven’t been around the battlfield community much. • 100% agree with this. Streamers are some of the worst people to go to. Especially with a franchise like Battlefield. Saying the class system was there when it clearly wasn't, and still isn't as defined as it needs to be. Saying "who cares" about Portal when that would probably the best part of the game if DICE would actually give it the love it deserves. Saying Battlefield 4 sucks when pretty much everyone universally just wants DICE to make another game like it. Also Shroud saying that all the content creators were telling them not to do certain things is hard for me to believe. I think it was Lossy (back when he still did KZhead) that said that most of the streamers and other creators that DICE paid were just Yes Men who didn't criticize any of the dumb decisions they were making, but he did also say that whenever he or another person spoke up about an issue that they were basically ignored. Oh and you shouldn't you the term "historically accurate" when referring to Battlefield. What you probably mean is "historical authenticity." It's important to distinguish between the two terms because they don't mean the same thing. Accuracy is basically making it pretty much resemble real life in terms of gameplay and equipment and function. Authenticity is more like everything looks the part and fits with the setting even if it doesn't necessarily work like it did in real life or is a tad anachronistic. Battlefield 1 was far FAR from a historically accurate depiction of World War I, but it had a metric ton of authenticity to it, which is part of the reason it was received so well and remembered so fondly. It's important to use the correct term because certain people will take what you say literally and basically point at you and say "you're stupid because you want this to be just like real life instead of being fun!" That's what the devs and the media did with Battlefield V. Sorry about the entire essay I just wrote, lol. I just really care about this franchise, and I hate when tourists like Shroud come in and say that they know what's best when they clearly don't understand anything about the series or what the actual fans of it want.

    • I hated battlefield 1 more than I hated any other battlefield game.. because of the gunplay, specifically. Random bullet deviation, sweetspot mechanics, forced effective ranges, the fact that literally every single pistol was quite literally better than 95 percent of every single primary weapon, regardless of caliber, or metric of weapon physics, or the fact that literally every overpowered weapon in the game was a weapon that either wasn't even used in actual combat, or was a literal one off design that in real life was completely terrible in actual function. However, visually, and atmospherically, the game was and still is, stunning. Simply gorgeous. The sound quality was amazing. But the thing that holds it in such a bitter position for me, and for most of the old school players of battlefield games, is the gunplay. If they had just implemented their tried and true weapons systems, gunplay mechanics, it would be hands down the best in their franchise.

I remember launch night the average helicopter lifespan was less than 15 seconds because legit EVERYONE on the enemy team had a rocket in their backpack. Older BF games required you to play the engineer class to run rockets, so there was give and take. BF 2042 was all give no take which ruined the flow of the game.

  • I feel like the term "Beta" has been co-opted by marketing teams to mean "hype building process" instead of its original purpose-- get the game into more hands, get feedback on the current state of the game, stress test systems under load, uncover bugs that might have been missed during the "Alpha" stage, etc. And then the most important step-- react to and fix those problems. Too often, I see game publishers announcing open betas along with release dates sometimes less than a month away. Like you said, one month is not enough time post-beta if you're serious about reacting to all the issues a beta event is going to uncover. This is where I like how XDefiant is doing things-- they keep announcing open betas, but the release date hasn't been announced. To me this says they're using the beta process as intended-- uncover bugs and fix them prior to release. It has the beneficial SIDE EFFECT of creating hype for the new game, but creating hype is not the PURPOSE of the beta. Marketing departments need to re-learn that important part of game production.

The mouse input is still bugged and there is recoil bugs that make the game feel flawed from the core, tons of input and movement delay, movement bugs etc. If you know anything about the "high level" mechanics of the game, there is none, it's gutted out to cater to casuals and if they continue to not listen to the people who really know what they are saying, the franchise will fail.

  • The biggest sin EA and DICE ever committed was halting development of Battlefront 2 after all the work the devs put into it. They spent 2 years working their asses of in love of star wars and video games to turn a pile of crap into one of the best games they have ever produced. Imagine if it wasn't canceled, rushed, or turned into fortnite with all the micro-transaction customization and card loot boxes. It would be a game still being played today. Even the community agrees with community mod creators keeping the game alive today. But they dug themselves into a hole with 2042 and took 3 studios working on successful/semi-successful games to try and match expectations with their ambition. Battlefield 5, Battlefront 2, and Burnout Paradise future development all swapped to the development of 2042. No wonder all the devs left before this. (P.S. Shroud) Battlefield 4 was goated. Operation locker my friend.

They give you full control of what maps to use, the tickets and the rotation of game modes and also allowed for 126 rush/breakthrough. In bf3 that server finder was the go to for good games with good players and the same went for bf4. Xp in portal is and always will be massively important because alot of players only play on portal.

  • I'm gonna copy/paste what I said in response to another commenter who shares a similar sentiment: Streamers are some of the worst people to go to. I hate when tourists like Shroud come in and say that they know what's best when they clearly don't understand anything about the series or what the actual fans of it want.

    @midknight9715@midknight971528 күн бұрын
    • Bro you nailed it, Shroud is a Battlefield tourist! LMAOOOOOOO he has such a basic-boy take on Battlefield like "Bro where were you even at for BF4, Hardline, 1, or even 5?" I've literally been flying choppers on BF since before Shroud had hairs on his chin. Here's my take. - Cringe is way too dominant on this game. Character design, voice dialogue, map design, cosmetics....all cringe. It's supposed to be called "Battlefield" not "Overwatch 3" - The maps are too damn big. 128 players, Battle Royale sized maps, not enough vehicles to go around, no limit on snipers and they expect you to either fall out of one of their mentally handicapped rando-pilot machines or get to walking. Yeah..... not fun. - Still no server browser. Why the F*^& is the browser still gone? I'll tell you. Because if you're in a bad game and want to leave to find another then guess what.....THERE ARE NONE! They'll redirect you right back where you just came from with their stupid auto-search game finder. DEAD GAME. - Vehicle selection is boring and abysmal. Jets- lame and weird, late to get rocket pods. "Stealth Heli"- nerfed into the ground, gunner gets 1 of the worst guns to ever be attached to a chopper, "Pond-Hawk"- seriously, WTF...... Tanks- pathetic, the worst part of the entire game, drive 20 seconds get spotted by a minimum of 5 Sundance players one of which 100% will fly on top of you and kill you with no counter to this. -Naval Content HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! GONE FOR GOOD! One of the most intriguing and defining parts of Battlefield that fully separated it from other shooters apparently gone extinct. I can only think of 1 or two maps with a little bit of water and it's the saddest thing I've ever seen in this franchise. It's like they don't even remember water at all. Speaking of which, you still can't dive underwater with your soldier which gave SUPERIOR cover while traversing to another objective that way, actually giving you a chance to do something that didn't include you defending yourself from 15-30 blind snipers with Tourette's Syndrome and a homo-erotic erection for Chris Kyle. - Weather...... I swear to God. There's only two weather effects Sandstorm, Tornado..... Rain is too close to having water on the maps... I have never seen a company lie so hard about something called "Dynamic Weather" before, it's insane and lying this many times should warrant some legal action. Where is the snow on the one snow map? (LOL) Where are the damn floods DICE? Earthquakes? Solar Storms knocking out electronics like you always hear the "cLiMaTe" alarmists crying about? Not a single volcano map. No fog. No windstorms, just cringenado. - Specialists still make me sick to look at and hear. Seriously the worst part of the entire game. The actual visibility of them make up about 0.5% of the game in between games, yet, every time I pick this game back up, try it, forget I'm playing one of the most INFILTRATED games of all time, I am reminded at the beginning and end of every match that the people that made this game dyed their hair blue, have a tackle-box for a human face and bring their sexual orientation to the workplace as their entire identity revolves around that and being an activist. Activists had no right to come in and take over this franchise and inject all their climate and pseudoidentity socio-bull**** into this once beloved and cherished arcade shooter. F*(/< you DICE, from the bottom of my heart, SMDFTB and spit.

  • To be COMPLETELY FAIR to the employee saying "Your expectations are too high, it takes time!", he's not wrong, but he worded it poorly (probably due to the NDA they have to sign after being hired saying you're not allowed to say ANYTHING negative about the company/game you're working on/for). They rushed the SHIT out of the game and they basically skipped 80% of the QA phase (which typically is the longest for the good studios because it takes so much time to get bugs fixed while causing new ones to happen from said fixes, and optimizing for not only PC, but the 3 SEPARATE CONSOLES you now have to optimize for which all takes A LOT of time to do) because the leads/execs/investors wanted to "Save money from extreme costs!" (the extreme costs you might be asking? The lead, and EVERY executive got a massive bonus that year, which came out of the budget towards BF2042, AND they over marketed the shit out of the game, so the development of the game completely got screwed over their poor money management, which is sadly the reality of the world currently....every studio does this now when they get big because there's always someone greedy at the top that wants more). It's rare when the devs are ACTUALLY to blame for the project, maybe 1 or 2 will come say some stupid shit on social media to defend themselves while staying within the NDA, but no joke game development is hell now until the gov can put a cap on how much a businessman/investor is allowed to earn and have the incredibly stupid amount of money they pay themselves go towards the actual team and allow them to not make a game that typically takes 3 to 4 years (that's with reusing assets/code too, starting from scratch takes quite a long time) rushed into barely a year and a half of full time development (not to be confused with developer's time doing real development...the higher ups and spokesmen of each company likes to say "Development time" to try and shift the blame, but it's honestly the time taken to plan out the game, write a story, do rewrites, figure out game mechanics, figure out art styles, rewrites again, and so on all BEFORE even writing a single line of code, or having maybe 1 or 2 people out of a team of 30 developers actually working on the game while they figure shit out....games like CP2077 might have "been in development for 7-9 years" or whatever they say since the first concept trailer dropped, but they barely got over a year of half of ACTUAL development time which is insanely short for what they wanted).

  • The bugged out tumultuous launch is part of the battlefield experience. Battlefield vets know this. It always comes around, you just gotta roll with it and enjoy the memes lol

  • Its funny hearing about the consulting at the beginning of this vid. I worked at a media company making a big-budget feature film script where notes were given directly from the audience intended for the story. Apparently they were completely ignored on the revisions. But then a new filmmaker came in and lo and behold all the issues ended up being addressed, but hilariously not even from the initial feedback. just their own revisions.

  • I think the only reason that the devs cared so much about Portal XP farming is because of the battlepass progression, which would reduce the microtransaction sales

  • 15:25 They weren't classes, the point of classes was that they had different weapons and equipment. If you saw a recon player at 100 meters you knew you had to take cover. If as an armored vehicle driver you saw an assault class player you knew you had to kill him first. If you needed ammunition you asked a support. If you needed health you approached a medic. They fulfilled a specific role, they had a different impact on the game, that was the point.

  • As Shroud is talking about how he didn’t experience that many bugs in the demo and launch, all I can think of is how I experienced basically ALL of them 😂 “They called me Mr. Glass”

  • I played this game 3 months ago because it was a free weekend. I was in portal mode and we were playing BF3 mode. There were flying ventilators everywhere, they were indestructible xD. It completely spoiled the atmosphere. You could jump on them.

  • You said that you don't know why anyone cared about Portal? To put it into perspective. In South Africa the player base was so small that Official Game Modes couldn't even start, bot-filled! And because there was no server browser or any way to match-make in other more populated regions, our community had to revert to Portal. This then acted as a server browser. Till this very day (Season 7) our community still uses Portal exclusively. You can queue AOW or Breakthrough via the official experience, you'll be maybe 4/64 (16 required to start map) queued after 40 mins of waiting. So what I'm getting at is that for player bases like ours, Portal is the only way we can experience the game.
