    • We truely grew up in the greatest era of gaming. Im glad I was around to see it all burn to shit with microtransactions and battle passes. We'll never know another AAA Renaissance like the mid 2000s. Everyone should give a fat bow to capitalism for not only building the beast, but allowing it to devour an amazing industry.

    • @@ousou78 BF2 elitists are a minority now because BF3 was so popular that it has many more legions of fans. To be fair, BF2 was wider in scope and did combined-arms better at the cost of shitty gunplay, it was just a different style of game. The people who would have liked BF2 back then are probably the people who play Squad today

    • It's just a shame how bfv couldn't follow in bf1s footsteps. I could never get into bf1 cause thinking about ww1 you think about trenches not people running and gunning. That type of game mode in design works a lot better with the ww2 setting in bfv. It's a shame they had to add a bunch of nonsense stuff that made the ww2 setting look like a steam punk alternative timelines ww2 which is probably part of the reason it flopped in the beginning. No one knew what it was supposed to be

    • BF1 was largely hated by most Battlefield fans when it actually came out. It's the entire reason DICE had no idea what to do going forward, cuz they got the notion that people didn't like BF1 and had to go a different direction. Goes to show half the problem wasn't really DICE, it was also the cynical, outrage-addicted fanbase who cannot be pleased by anything anymore. And now that everybody looks back and remembers, "Oh yea, that game was actually fantastic", which is something I was screaming from the roof the entire time, it's far too late. All the damage is done and we all lost a great thing because of it.

    • When you release a game with terrible RNG shooting mechanics in a franchise that never had that, it seems predictable that the old breed would hate it. Personally I only played a few hours before I put it down out of frustration. Only made one return to it and found I couldn't move two feet without being mortar or grenaded because I was constantly spotted by flares. The graphics and the atmosphere were certainly s tier but the gun/ game play at least when I played it were f tier. Nothing more frustrating than having your sights on a guy and because he is 50 feet away only half your bullets hit and getting a head shot is completely down to random chance.

  • BFV's gameplay and mechanics are so well-designed it's actually not fair compairing to other titles. BFV fixes everything that is wrong with BF1. For starters, they removed the 3D ping system, my god was that toxic as hell you cant go anywhere without being spotted. Assault now has actual and diversed weapon, being a viable class. Medic is crazy OP after they give them the SMG treatment, allowing them to revive allies without the syringe and the animation is just chef's kiss; the balancing and QoL medic changes are extremely well done, not to mention their smoke grenades are finally useful now. The support class is also fixed by letting them ADS only when prone/bipods are deployed, as much as I love BF1 but I can't stand the sweats running and gunning with a LMG 250 ammo cap like it's an smg, great move from the Devs, also the crate and pouch mechanics are good now, they make total sense. I can't believe it but DICE absolutely fixed the sniper class by removing the sweet spot and you can only 3d spot with binoculars, they also added beacons and reworked the flare guns it's incredible how balanced it is, and the snipers actually feel different for once. There are other changes too with vehicles, squads and building mechanics but overall I think BFV deserve at least an A, for all their effort put into balancing the game and making the game actually fun to play. It was such a shame that they put so little content out for BFV, BFV really deserved better

Battlefield 2 also gave birth to Project Reality, which started as a BF2 total conversion mod and later went on to become a standalone game (as BF2 turned into abandonware). Project Reality is my favorite multiplayer shooter of all time without a doubt. it's incredible would the mod devs could do with the Refractor 2 engine, the game is also incredibly well balanced and was extremely addictive. • BF3 was the reason I switched from Xbox to PC. Between having to DL the high resolution texture pack for BF3 and seeing YT videos comparing the PC version to the 360 version, I took my teenage summer job money and bought a second hand custom built PC from a friend. From there it launched my entire PC building hobby chasing the high FPS thrill BF games. BF1 crowned it all by far when it came to graphics, atmosphere, story, and replayability.

  • Thank you for a truly fair ranking of BF games. So many of these lists are usually made by very young KZheadrs with huge recency bias that never really played the classic BF games. Though I do think there’s a few debatable rankings here, it seems like these are all only potentially off by 1 ranking, whereas some of the other rankings online are way off. Oh and HUGE props for having an unranked tier for the games you never played instead of trying to force an unfair ranking.

  • I think BF2 deserves S-tier. Sure it is not a as refined as Bf3 but the direction of the game was not only revolutionary to the BF series (as you said the commander and etc) but to a whole other genre of more hardcore big scale battle games, spurring first into Project Reality, which in turn would inspire games like Squad. The impact on the industry is off the charts and I think although considered an A tier that would be underrated.

    • Bf 2 must be the first and the inky S tier in the list. Not that the others don't deserve S tier but no game came close to Bf2 when we talk about how much a game can change the videogames panorama. Bf3 is supreme but has basically nothing more to offer really than the 2. It's just a refined version of the 2 without the commander (I still miss it today) and with the addition of the "unlock the next item" mindset.

Simply put, I never, even in BF3 (probably the scope glint for me, irrealistic and annoying), which I love, got as much fun as playing Rush on BC2 on PC. It was, for all intents and purposes, flawless to me. The real moment Battlefield became broken in my mind, is when they started limiting ammo capacity to 3 mags. Game breaking, fun breaking, dumb decision.

  • The hate on BF2042 is fascinating to me. I've loved and put hundreds of hours into every Battlefield game and BF2042 is objectively better than all previous Battlefield games. Yeah, so you're confused about the "heroes" and their individualized perks? Yeah, sure, it's weird, but look past that. The game is just better. Pick a perk and just enjoy the game. The game modes are better, the gunplay is better, the vehicles are better, the movement is better, and Portal allows you to do full-on mil sim and replay your favs from BF1942 and Bad Company. Literally everything is improved on. And 100,000 players are playing it right now. Anyone seriously knocking BF2042 compared to those other games is kidding themselves. Hop on BC2 and try to go prone or mantle. Hop on BF4 and actually try to see enemies in the distance. The hate is ridiculous, and the hate will damage future games. Imagine being a developer working on your craft through all these games, improving in every aspect, getting fired because of gamer nostalgia. Insane.
