Marauders: Trying to Understand Armor, Health, and Damage Models
EDIT: Some of the models are a bit off due to forgetting that the P08's Damage is 24 NOT 20 like in the video, and also no Pain was accounted for. We'll let this stand for now, but will revisit with a better model at a later date.
Hey there. Welcome to the video. We got a few us together to see if we could figure out some base damage models in Marauders the game. How does the armor work? How much health do you have? Things like this.
This isn't 100% accurate, or to be taken as a be all end all. These were really quick tests, and need to be expanded on. We didn't have much armor to test, but we feel as if we put things in the right direction.
Thanks for watching.

Its very refreshing to see a small channel making actually good videos
Thank you so much. It's a hobby for me, and I love doing it. Just wanna laugh with my bros, and have a good time. Thanks for watching.
So its much easier to understand than you think lol. The number on the top left represents the damage reduced. When a vest takes damage it will degrade so that number no longer is as effective. So if it's 7 armor it will reduce 7 damage on the first shot and slowly degrade. The higher the durability the longer that damage reduction is in place.
Damaged armor does has the same damage reduction as a full armor, except a fully broken armor does nothing.
@@hittite_gaming I thought they showed in the video that as the armour degrades it stops less and less damage
Fantastic! I would love to see more data and some pooling together but thank you for the testing, great video, clear process, sprinkled in some fun banter. Subscribed and looking forward to more ♥️
Thank you. Hoping to get videos out each Friday morning. Got 4 more lined up for you guys. I appreciate the sub!
Thanks doctors. Really interesting stuff. Love this game too, playing the hell outta it. See you in the void.
This is really helpful, thank you for taking the time to make this video!
Of course! Thank you for watching!
awesome work dude
Love the video, looking forward to seeing more statistics show up
We'll do another video a few months into EA and see what's up!
You guys are awesome , best marauders video out . Thanks for the knowledge.
Thanks for the kind words!
Thank you for thanking the time to do this! Loving this game and can't wait to see roadmap for the next few months=)
Thank you so much. The roadmap is on their twitter and discord if you didn't know.
Thank you so much for this m8. The only video i found that addresses this in depth
Thanks man. If you want to sub, we'll go back over this in a couple of months and go real in-depth. A lot of the community is working on this, so we'll compile it all, do our own testing, and then make a video. Glad you enjoyed.
thanks for the analysis been curious how the armour worked since playing and you got a new subscriber love the style of your content
Thank you so much for watching! I appreciate the kind words!
I like this comedy and chemistry between crew, subscribed :P
Thanks! We got some more footage to release in the coming days. We're all good IRL friends/family, so we have a blast playing with each other.
Thank you i was searching for this stuff
Glad you enjoyed it. We'll revisit the topic a few months into EA and get a real good in depth video.
good info, thanks for the science :D
Thank you. Some of the science was off, but we did our best. Thanks for watching!
This was so entertaining!
Thanks man. I appreciate the kind words, and hope you'll stick around!
I tryed find video like this, i did this, ty guys for experiments
Thanks man! We're glad you enjoyed it.
just found this. nice. more pls.
Will do! Thanks
If you could test the different shotguns, to find out the number of pellets + damage per pellet on each shotgun (they seem to have different numbers for each).
We could do that. Like I've said, we plan on doing a way more in depth study after the game has been in EA for awhile and really getting down to some stuff.
Very cool, can’t wait to show this to my homies
Thanks man. Glad you're sharing it around.
You are doing god's work.
I'm trying man!
Mister Professor Doctor PATRICK!!
good video!
Thanks so much! We'll be sticking around and making more for sure.
@@unflinchingalva keep at it, even with people being overly critical. any guide takes time and you are covering stuff some might not. looking forward to more!
@@SpicyBeanDip I thank you for the kind words. Yeah, we're trying to break the mold of typical youtube videos. Just trying to make them fun, laid back, and informational. I ain't worried about making "Meta" videos per say. Just a fun hobby I want to share.
@@unflinchingalva thats what its all about, love to see it
i would not say its leg meta in marauders, you get roughly half damage on hitting limbs, so even the weakest guns in the game deal the same or more damage if you hit them on a tier 10 chest. The luger would do roughly 14 damage on a Tier 10 chest armour while a leg hit does 12. The meta is actually headshot since the multi is so big. It doesnt really matter what tier helmet you wear its mostly 0-1 more hits you can take to the head. Welrod or SVT are pretty much guaranteed 1 tap in the head no matter what helmet.
Very true. Guess we should've said it's viable, but not encouraged. If you wanna min-max the crap out of the game, then it's possible, but I'd just shoot em in the face. lol
Nice video, very insightful. Do you have a Corsair Wireless headset? Mine makes that same sound
Yes. It's a great headset, but I didn't know OBS would pick up the battery low noise lmao
So a question.. you guys are reading off the percentages. AFAIK the percent is of current max, not max w/o pain. So the apparent increase in subsequent shots is likely coming from your max hp going down, not damage going up.
Correct. We totally forgot to include pain due to us being monkey brained lmao
nice

@Unflinching Alva Studios as far as i know armor is a flat dmg reduction to the weapon dmg itself. meaning if the weapon does 20 dmg and you have armor lvl 10 your bullet does 10dmg (i think unless youre testing your shots with always 100% health you may get wrong values) as far as i know durability has no effect currently.
what's up blazers
The real question I want to know is, is it better to have a higher durability armour even if they are the same tier? for example a M1 Flak vs M2 Flak, both tier 6 but M2 has much higher durability so will the M2 tank more shots than the M1?
Interesting question. I'll mark this down for more testing later on, but from our testing, a level 6 Flak vs the level 6 Leather Vest, the flak took 18 and 19 damage, vs the Leather only taking 16. Flak has 40 durability, and the Leather only has 10. It's not enough data to go off of, but I would say it doesn't matter. I think ultimately the 40 durability will tank more shots simply due to it having more durability and not breaking faster.
I really wish these games would stop being so obscure with their info how the systems work. It's just frustrating. At least I now know that helmets actually block significant damage and it's not just me aiming bad, dunno if I like that tbh, means gear plays a massive role and you can't compensate by sneaking up on someone and pop them in the head. Also make the welrod borderline useless.
What do those 2 dates mean on the intro, i think one is in 1989 and the other in 1992...?
It's just the dates the game takes place in. It's an alternate future. It also pops up in the corner when you play the game too, and says the date you're playing but with a 90s twist IE today it would say 8/1/92
@@unflinchingalva ok an alternative future..
Pretty sure health is 150 I've had many games where I only killed one and that's was the damage listed
What are the multipliers for headshots and does different calibers have different penetration?
So the devs claimed headshots did x3.5 damage, but some testing has shown it to be x4 damage. There is no penetration, but a set damage value which goes against the armor's tier. So say a bullet does 100 damage, and the armor blocks 25%, the final damage is 75%. Nothing else matters there.
@@unflinchingalva Found this docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Fqdyxqo5dXPKd_q7jRIz4n6hAJ_JyTazRpWJ3UTMYtE/edit#gid=0 Higher tier armor can stop small bullets more effectively, so there's a psudeo penetration system here.
@@322wongamos Do you think I could use this in a video down the road?
@@unflinchingalva I am not the author, but I think he won't mind.
@@322wongamos I appreciate it my man.
Game like this are a bit weird with their armor. the Cycle is really the worst. Penetration AND armor values. Green blue purple.
I've found an in depth look in armor, damage and the pain system. Not sure if I'm allowed to share links so I'm gonna not for now.
I'd love to see it, can you tell me what channel posted it? or what the title of the video is?
Does damage on the gun become worse while in the raid will it gets weaker?
Not that we're aware of.
Would a shield on your back block bullets?
Me and Intellectual: HMMMMMMMM Adding it to the list of other things we'll try to test at a later date.
@@unflinchingalva No need to test, it does indeed block the bullets as long as you have it on your back. However you need to make sure to equip it once and put it away for it to show up on your player model sometimes. My friends and I have tested this with full mag dumps into our backs while having a shield and it blocked them all. Now obviously the heavy shield blocks more than the small due to being the bigger model but the small still does protect you some.
@@kylehintz8139 Gnarly as hell bro.
No armor + klobb = success

gimme gameplays
Will do. Gotta get these fools together to play it more.
So does armour reduce damage to your arms?
Don't think so. Didn't test it ourselves, but I've heard others say it doesn't.
The damage is something that feels like bullshit I shoot in mouth no one dies they one claps me all the time
It seems to be battery low !
I didn't realize it would record my Corsair headset dying. Kinda funny tbh.
This all still accurate?
It still should be, yes. Some of the Armor Tiers and weapon damage might have changed, but the findings are still fine. We hadn't datamined the game yet, so we understand it a bit better now. Let me break it down with all the knowledge we have now. First to know, Armor "Level" or "Tier" is directly related to how much damage it reduces. IE Tier 4 will reduce damage by Points. Second, depending on where the bullet hit adds or subtracts how much damage is done, in the head does 3.5x damage, body & arms 1.0x, and the legs do 0.5x. Let's say you got shot in the head with a Luger. Luger does 24 Damage Raw. You're wearing a Tier 10 Helmet Luger's Damage to your head is now 14 Since it's a headshot, it's multiplied by 3.5x You take a total of 49 Damage from this. The Marauders Wiki also has a ton of helpful info for you to check out! Let me know if you have more questions!
That's awesome man. I always went for headshots anyway but now it makes perfect sense why they hit so hard even through high tier helms. Does armor cover arms? If not, arm meta might be better leg meta lol @@unflinchingalva
@@L.Reeves Sorry it took me so long to get back to you. Armor does cover the arms. This game has no Armor Hitboxes or anything like Tarkov. If a body part has a piece of armor on it, it's all covered no matter what you see. Helmets cover the whole head, face, and neck. Body Armor covers Stomach, Chest, Arms, etc Currently, there is no leg armor.
Honestly, pretty bad misinformation being spread. A player has 100 health, the percentage is then based off how much total health you can heal to. Ex, so 97/100 HP is 97% and if you had 90/95 HP (due to pain) is 94.7%. Damage shown on a gun is what it will actually do with headshots being 3.5x more damage and leg shots doing either 0.75x or 25% damage. A STG 30 DMG will one shot you in the head with no armor 105 DMG but the K1 Assault won't with 28 DMG dealing only 98 DMG. Arms and torso are seen as the same, armor reduces the damage taken but the level of armor, Mauser does 24 DMG but if you have lvl 7 chest and are shot there it will do 17 DMG. A SVT or a Johnson will always one shot to the head no matter what. SVT 40 DMG - 10 lvl helmet = 30 DMG x 3.5 = 1.05, dead. Johnson 45 DMG - 10 lvl helmet = 35 DMG x 3.5 = 122.5, dead. Also, random AI usually have less health just like how they have very damaged gear and the durability on gear goes down but 1 for each bullet no matter the damage.
Also, a flare gun 40 DMG cannot headshot unfortunately but you don't get that choice with a land mine 150 DMG.
The problem is the devs are not releasing the info. Why? What is stopping them from releasing this info? Marauders needs an Official Wiki............
Marauders has an unofficial Wiki on Fandom. I spoke to the Devs about this info, and they didn't know if they were going to release it, so for now it's up in the air. I think they might lean the Tarkov way in regards to damage, armor, etc info. I think it's a good and bad thing. The good reason is it lets people like myself do cool content videos. The bad is it's confusing and acts as a barrier to entry.
battery low 8:04
Lmao I had zero clue it would record that tbh. I only thought it plays through the headphones. Apparently it goes through the system too. Damn you Corsair
That explains why everyone is so bullet spongy, this game is terrible in that aspect
