Great team, full of talent in every position, Zidane at his best, and generally one of the best euro tournaments.
As an Italian it was heartbreaking seeing France equalize in the last minute and them win in extra time. But payback came for Italy in 2006

@@cm8836 Italy have won four WC's (France only two) and Italy and France have won two EC's each. France have won one ENL which is really a mickey mouse tournament anyway. So statistic wise Italy are still way ahead of France because WC's are the highest standard by which trophy wear is measured.

The players, the teams ,the colors, the stadiums , the matchups..I’m a die hard Italian fan so it ended in heartbreak for me but I will always remember this tournament!! France vs Spain might be my favorite game in any tournament ever behind Germany vs Italy 06, France vs Portugal is in my top 5 , holland vs Italy in my top 5 lol so basically almost all my favorite games in tournaments I been watching since 1990 came from this tournament..that final still haunts me to this day, del piero & totti was so bad in this game lol I’ll never forget the Italians gathering on the sideline to celebrate when Wiltord scored 🤦🏾♂️I always watch that highlight hoping toldo could get down faster 😪

I was supporting Italy wanted to see Cannavaro Totti and Del Piero take the World Cup, but in the final part of me wanted to see Zidane go out with it too. Truly a great time for football. 2006 had mess Ronaldo robben Ribery Van Persie as the next generation and still had all of the old guard like Figo beckham Zidane Totti del Piero Ronaldo etc. What a World Cup. But that match the end to end action the drama the chances, and then the way grosso got the call from the reverse pass and Gilardino found del Piero for the second. Magnificent Italian football with Italian flare and style.
