He basically just mastered the art of hanging back, reading the qb, and then essentially becoming the receiver after the ball was thrown. Of course this takes world class speed and athleticism to pull off.
Deion played the Ball not the Man. The Ball would take him to the man.
It’s called a trail technique
@@darrylnelson05 exactly, it's called ball skills for DB's
Its called as he called it baiting the.qb.
Exactly
The best CB off all time
The first shutdown corner
Nope. Dod uou know he was arrested sr season on way to bowl game for being acessory to robbery? He is same as jamis. Losers in life due to ignorance....amazing free shoes university
Charles Woodson is the greatest CB of all time hands down. Sanders is the greatest freak of nature football player of all time. What does that mean? I don't know but I'm a Michigan fan so...
@@markperry2827 Yeah but he had a pretty good NFL career. An arrest in college doesn't prevent him from being one of the best CB's of all time.
@@markperry2827 must be a trump-pet, you stupid fuck lol yell
There will never be another Deion. #Livinglegend
... Adam Pacman Jones, almost if he didn't get into trouble starting back from Titans.
There will never be another J real. Knock it off.
@@powereng1000 not even close
@@NicoleKe you know what I mean smart azz.
@@powereng1000 Pac-Man is a pimple on Deion’s ass..
Deion Sanders = THE PLAYER WHO MADE "SPECIAL TEAMS" MOST EXCITING and WHAT WE CALL "A PLAY MAKER"
The playmaker was Michael Irvin
@@ericmcgowan1993 lol. Dang man, did that comment went right over your head? We are saying, Deion was a special athlete who made plays every time he got his hands on the football. Primetime was not the playmaker but “a” playmaker indeed.
@@cwhalesss1071 Peter Warrick was fsu's version of the playmaker. Certainly wouldn't be a defensive guy. Come on 🤣
Who is we?
I didn't know Deion played QB in High School. That's why he got his sons setup the way he do. They Coming!👊🏾💪🏾
Simply the best cover corner in history. In college and in the NFL.
wrong, r e t a r d . absolutely sucked at football. nothing but a steroids cheater
Deion was something to behold, He is my top pick for best athlete I've ever seen in my lifetime by far. He was blessed to never have a career ending injury.
For me it's a toss up between Neon Deion & Rickey Henderson
Not even close.Bo Jackson would s hit on him
Bo was stronger and faster
@@toddage83 Yes, Bo was a better athlete; however, Bo's career didn't last long enough to say that he was better than Deion.
@@user-sg8kq7ii3y agreed, Deion was better based on performance & staying on the field. EXAMPLE: What good is a 4.1 forty time if you only lasted a year in the NFL?
Best athlete ever at FSU hands down 🔥🔥 🔥🔥 🔥
One of the best ever
Peter warrick
Best ath state of fla hands down and im a gator
You mean best athlete ever!
@@Od2221 Love Peter Warrick but he wasn't PRIMETIME! GO NOLES!!
Deion's baseball acumen helped him with his timing, when getting an int. What Deion did often was bait the q.b by slightly trailing, or sagging off the intended receiver then with his knowledge of the play, his timing, and athletism recover.
@Darryl Perry Yup, like stealing bases.
Definitely, you would think that the QB wouldnt even consider his side regardless where he is.
Yup, he played on his own island once he perfected his craft in the pros and ultimately shut down that side of the field he was playing on
That 4.21 speed allowed him to do that. He had an advantage no other DB had.
He once baited Rocket Ishmael when Dallas played the Raiders. The QB overthrew Rocket who had a step or two on Dione & before the ball came down Primetime closed so fast to get in front of Rocket Ismail and it looked like the pass was intended for him. Madden talked about that play for a majority of the game after that. His speed was crazy.
This guy was insane!!! So glad the injury setting was off for his career!!!!
That's because he never tackled
Nicholas Treadway haha. Still think turf toe helped to force his first retirement.
@@pmu615 business decisions which profited him
Top 5 player football player
@@dominicfm2189 he couldn't hit. Giants quarterback Dave Brown ran right over him like he wasn't even there in a game
Why today’s corners don’t study this man. They’re even scared to turn their heads in coverage.
True indeed...👍🏼👍🏼
Jalen Ramsey
4:21 SPEED!!! There isn't much to study here. When you can out-run your competition with your head turned it makes things much easier.
need 4.2 speed first for recovery.
@@hhh1200 naw. You don’t. Just don’t put yoursef in a position in which you need 4.2 speed. Besides, its a saying in football. “If I’m even, im leavin”. Jalen and stephon are great at turning their head. Both run 4.4 flat. Obviously, not as good as Deion but som players still know how to play dB
U don’t see DBs making picks like this anymore. Going over the top and snatching balls out of the air before the receiver can get it.
cagehfh excellent ball skills! jalen does it
DB’s definitely still make picks like that...
Yeah. Jalen is extremely athletic and good. No corner has been as quick twitch as Deion. Jalen honestly isn’t close. He just taller and has a hell of a broad jump.
GOAT 🐐
Get real
Just think how much faster he would be if he didn't have them heavy outdated shoulder pads on. Lol
J real faxxxx lol
@Wraith Black #FACTS
@smoothcollectedi never said they were outdated back then
😂
& the big gold chain hah
Deion Sanders AKA primetime is by far one of the top five best NFL players ever in history
Deion Sanders is a top 5 corner of all time.
@BIG DIRT Pass me what u’re smoking! I would love 2b fucked up just like u! Not top 5?! 🤦🏾♂️
Top 5 all time? Slow down, Mike. Definitely one of the top 5 to play his position. Top 5 all time is another conversation.
Probably not a top 5 corner tbh
@@ericmcgowan1993 if you can name 5 other corners that were/are better, you're damn good.
On those punt returns... he looked like a video game. 4.21 40? 30 years ago? That's insane.
1:11 That slight tug on Deion's jersey by #78 to let him know to cut back left for the block got him 7 additional yards. Smart football.
Yeah that was great
Good eyes
That was beautiful communication ❤❤
The athleticism and speed he showed in the punt return vs Clemson is simply amazing. He made the everyone else on that field look un-athletic and slow. He was obviously a great athlete, but he was also one of the smartest players to ever play the game. Watch the way he baited QB’s into throwing his way. Awesome!!!
I think that one right there had to be A.I bc that was ridiculous
He ran so smooth it looks like he isn’t even trying to run hard lol
Even as a Canes fan I loved Deion! Definitely the 🐐 in the secondary!
Right...I am a Canes fan from Ohio, so that Rivalry isn't as important or big to me. Of course when they play it's big to me. But I don't hate the Noles like my family in Florida does Lol. I became a fan after my mom bought me a Hurricanes book bag in 3rd grade. My family in Florida told me the rivalry down there is like Ohio State vs Michigan up here. I miss when college football opened the season with the Canes vs Noles.
What Prime had you SIMPLY just cannot teach !
The most talented DB I've ever seen in my life.SPEED QUICK FEET.
@@rolandedwards1777 He was the MJ of cornerbacks ! Absolute BEAST on that football field.
One can teach everything that he had.
Yeah you can’t teach 4.21 😂
@@TizzleF Yes, you can, but it takes time.
He is the fastest player I've ever see play football over my 55 years on the planet.
Wow! I love that first clip, Brett Favre throwing an interception to Primetime. Great addition, two of the best.
I am glad I wasn't the only one that noticed it.
@@Joseph-lz5er yeah, Brett Favre is so unnoticeable 🙄
Were teammates in Atlanta. Drafted together in first and second rounds respectively
And they was on the same team, the Atlanta Falcons.
@@deangelo8498 And Andre Rison was wr for Michigan State on the deep pick. Another falcon!
The GOAT.....primetime in full affect..
Prime's highlights always blow my mind.
I'd say Bo was the best athelete of his generation but his body did not hold up and he didn't have the longevity. For my $, Prime is the best athelete of his generation, is the best cb ever (not close), and really is one of the most athletic beings in the history of humanity. Glad I'm old enough to have seen this man play in real time. Breath taking. Electric. Legend.
Pro Scouts Clocked him at 4.2 1:)
The man has ran under that... Ran Beebe and Ron Brown down
Bo Jackson clocked in at 4:13 40 at the combine.🤭
Yeah, ALMOST as fast as Bo Jackson....."FOOD FOR THOUGHT!"
Deion Sanders was the best CB in his time.. Unbelievable talent..
Something many DB's don't do that is so simple - LOOK BACK FOR THE BALL. It is such a simple thing.
Bruh istg even mofos in NFL
Dion was and will always be the best. When your offense has to plan around him. That’s saying something
Deion was an All Time Great, I love to watch him play still to this day!
"I put butts in seats."-Deion Sanders
'I take credit for stuff I had little to nothing to do with' would be more accurate
@@ericmcgowan1993 Naw he was right on the money.
This why I became a huge FSU FAN. PRIME TIME.
Nole Blooded #AintItTho
Yes sir.
He should have been a CANE
Hats off to the brave college qb's that had the balls to throw his direction. Provided the highlights
FSU used to be a Powerhouse when Bobby Bowden was the coach. Peter Boulware, Derrick Brooks,Warrick Dunn,Peter Warrick,Charlie Ward the list goes on.
What's your point?
My favorite college football coach of all time!
YESSSSSSS! DEION SANDERS!!! #21 He happened to win his first Superbowl on my birthday with the 49ers 01/29/1995!!!!
Great vid... if u listen and look closely all these highlights are against HOF's or guys who played in the NFL
2:20 Deion with the incredible interception, by a well thrown bomb, over Andre Rison!! Andre would later catch a pass and Juke Deion for a TD score. The two battled it out throughout the game. And would then become Teammates in the NFL for Atlanta Falcons...Better known as Primetime/Showtime
The burst he showed @ 1:27 against Clemson Wow!!!!
He was like flash man ⚡😂
Amazing
1st play is him pick 6ing brett farve in college😂😂😂😂😂😂 priceless
He always made it look like he was the receiver and the receiver was the defender.
Those punt returns were unreal, I haven’t seen anyone move like that in a long time.
Excellence is who he is and have always been.
Goat
Special player, for sure. Definitely worth paying to see him play!
Joe Theismann was a great player who had his career ended by one of the GOATs in LT and he says that Deion is the best football player he's ever seen
Look at that man swag in the thumbnail...that’s the 80s and he was killin em
One of the best corners during his collegiate years😊
I appreciate HD after watching this footage.
Imma just tell everyone this. The reason we don’t see corners like Deion anymore is because most players with this speed they convert them into receivers. Think about it how many receivers can you name that can run a 4.3 or even a 4.2.bow how many corners can you Ake run a 4.3 or 4.2? Exactly most run 4.4 or 4.5 unlike Deion he was pretty much a receiver his speed was all he needed to get to the ball first 💯.
He caught an interception off of Farve they played in Atlanta together! Caught an interception over Rison and Irvin that he both played with in Atlanta and Dallas...Bananas!
Deion made it all look EASY! That is how great he was. Didn't look like he was running fast but faster than everyone on the field. Great ball skills, as well. Michael Irvine said Deion would have been the greatest receiver of all time if he played the position full-time. Played NFL Football AND then jumped in a plane and played for the Braves?!?! - NOT of this planet!👽
Always said he among all the athletes ive seen even moss jordan ..BO .jackson deion's speed seems to be alien like...
Thing was he probably was the best running back and receiver on the field, defensive back might have been his third best position!
You know that Florida heat was blazing when even the referees were wearing shorts. 🥵 🔥 💀
Deion played with DT shoulder pads🤣
Man Deion was a great player
Now one of the best coaches in the NCAA
No
Him and Charlie Ward. Florida State had some memorable football players. As good as Ward was at football, he was great at basketball too
Deion before turf toe was unreal. Deion after turf toe was unreal. Jus HIM. #SkkoooBuffz
He is so fun 🤩 to watch, Primetime
It was amazing how fast he was and how amazing his vision was. One thing that made him great was that he could catch. He was in the qb and best receivers heads before the game even started
Incredible! My favorite Nole ever
What about Burt Reynolds?
Best athlete to ever play a sport
That jump to avoid the punter in the clemson game is next level man
Lucky for Deion the ref missed the false start on Melvin Bratton 5:08, the play would have been blown dead. These FSU / Miami games were monumental during this era.
Best dB of all time...he made playing dB a star
Charles Woodson and Night train lane
“Undergraduate studies” 🤣🤣🤣 That man was strictly there to play ball
i saw him at a AAA baseball game. 1st pitch of the game he hit an inside the park hr in richmond, va. in 1991 or 1992.
I was at that same game, unbeliveable his speed around the bases. A freakish athletic play !
Now he's in the NFL HALL OF FAME!
There were only a handful of guys too good for college football. Deion was one of them.
Now he is a great coach as well
Dion was the man
I live in Oklahoma and they didn't show many FSU games the years Prime played. I feel robbed because I like college football more than the pros. It was the same with Emmit Smith at Florida. What a shame seeing that those schools get much national prime time coverage now.
FSU is my squad I can’t stand watching them lose now.
They are not what they used to be.
Me either fam
Then you sure do NOT want to watch "primetime" go against the Miami Hurricanes...I think his record was 0-3 vs. The Canes!!!
Amen brother, hopefully we can relive the glory days soon
I loved and hated him at the same time. What a player! My brother played against him at Clemson and he said Deion was a class act on the field.
Can you believe he had a DISLOCATED FOOT for 15 years (and didn't know it.) Let alone he is now missing TWO TOES due to poor circulation in his blood. Had to be amputated. He has to wear a hoodie (no matter what the temperature) just to improve his blood circulation. They thought they were going to have to amputate part of his leg! What this guy has had to endure just to survive - unreal. (all true)
Love Deion, but Charlie Ward is very close, and my favorite Seminole.
Charlie ward was FSU
Why I love fsu football till this day prime time
He covers ground so dam quickly its crazy.
He was the man . salary should have been 10 billion period
Prime time had yet to develop that long striding, high step into the endzone.
In college, its a 15 yard unsportsmanlike conduct penalty to taunt/celebrate. Rules were a lot stricter back then compared to today.
And his Dancing
@@onekmoore Because of The U
I wonder how many points Deion Sanders made per game and denied per game? Incredible.
Warrick, Dunn and Deion have got to be the most decent trio from one school doing the most good after football
You have to include Charlie Ward in there.
And Derrick Brooks
@@ericmcgowan1993 and Charlie Ward we have been blessed with some good people who got even better
@@acroyerx1193 yes sir I just added that before i saw your post
When you feel good you feel good. When you feel good you play good. When good you get paid good
When you have an elite athlete, and he's also a great competitor, you have Deion Sanders.
Deion's major was "Undergraduate Studies" as a Junior which translates to "I'm only here to play football."
I noticed that too.
And Baseball and Track!!!
Meanwhile, you’re just another overweight schlub sitting in his soiled tighty whiteys posting on the you tube interwebs. Congrats, loser.
He did finally get His Degree.
True, but he is worth about 60+ Million and counting today. If he were to play in the NFL or MLB today, he would already have a 300 Million + dollar contract. So it sounds like a good degree plan to me. 😂😂
The way he baited the qb 😂
Charlie Ward was the most exciting and best player in Florida State football history... You start on the basketball team and was drafted out of high school for baseball and he was class President and graduated.
Dang, they called him Primetime in college!?
He got that nickname at North Ft Myers High School.
It’s always cool to see the greats before they were household names
4.21 40 yard dash in college!
Ironic part is Deion really is a Florida Seminole. but we’re taught in America that they weren’t black….that’s probably why he’s so talented and athletic.
I can't imagine Prime playing QB. The fear he had to strike in defenses touching the ball EVERY play!!! By the way...that was an official 4.1 forty.
Hand timed.
Anybody else notice the Clemson fans throwing trash at him in the endzone? 1:56
Oh... The good old days Andre Rison, Michael Irvin, Louis Oliver... just to name a few
I got a Rookie card of his with a Florida State Uni on… I thought this guy looks so cool with the ‘spear’ on the helmet and Florida State sounds like a cool school…this was 1989. They are still my favorite school today!
I think Charlie Ward begs to differ🤨
Ward was good but he wasn't Great I'm just saying 💯
@@kingjohn553 jus saying tho, the man won a national title and the Heisman. I think thats Good enough to be considered great even if somehow you figured he was just good enough..Deion do neither in college..
That one play brought back all sorts of memories. Deion intercepts a pass from Vinny Testaverde to Michael Irvin.
Kid was a junior still "majoring" in undergraduate studies.Tell us you were in school for one reason without telling us you were in school for one reason.Hats off to him though.Worked pretty darn well for him
Peter Warrick was the most exciting player at FSU
...and Warrick Dunn
