"Predator 2" (1990): Urban Jungle and a Deadlier Predator
Released in 1990, "Predator 2" is a science fiction action film directed by Stephen Hopkins. The movie is a sequel to the 1987 hit film "Predator" and takes the action from the jungle to the urban jungle of Los Angeles. The film features an even deadlier and more technologically advanced Predator hunting its prey in a gritty and crime-ridden city. Starring Danny Glover as Lieutenant Mike Harrigan, the film explores themes of urban violence, drug cartels, and police corruption, all while delivering intense action sequences and suspense.
Set in the near future of 1997, the movie showcases the Predator's adaptability as it uses the city's infrastructure to its advantage. The film also expands the lore of the Predator species, revealing more about their hunting practices and the existence of multiple Predators. While "Predator 2" didn't achieve the same iconic status as its predecessor, it remains a cult classic among fans of the franchise, known for its high-octane action and memorable scenes.
The film's blend of science fiction, horror, and action elements, along with its unique setting, adds a distinct flavor to the Predator series and demonstrates the franchise's ability to evolve and explore new environments. "Predator 2" is a noteworthy installment that has continued to capture the imagination of sci-fi and action enthusiasts over the years.

"Lions and tigers and bears... oh my" Gary Busey is such an adorable asshole!
Oh yes!!! 😂😂😂 Love how he delivers that line!
Guy is insane, he wasn't acting, he was just being himself
He has to have one of the best voices in Hollywood history.
Perfomance like this is what makes movies good
1:12 “A fucking alien!” That’s one of my favorite movie quotes of all time
Completely agree

Ohh my.👍
Harrigan: “Like from space?”
It doesn’t take much to impress you, huh? 🤣
Keys was respectful enough to let him know what he was up against
I feel like he told him, so that Harrigan would simply back off and it was done to tell the audience what Keys is all about. I never got the sense there was any other reason he told him. Telling him would hopefully prevent Harrigan from continuing to pursue at any point and hopefully get Harrigan to side with Keys. Nothing is to get in the way of the objective to capture the predator
When Keys said "Don't you show up in the damndest places?" whilst smiling, I got the impression he thought welp, he's here now, might as well tell him.
@@macklee6837 lol that’s possible too. There are a lot of answers that can be correct
Ha, I'd say less respectful and more like, "well you're not gonna stay away, might as well read you in the situation."

Gary Busey is a great actor. Very underrated.
he was great as Elliot from Scrubs

@@CardanoETF He was a bit of a nutjob even before the motorcycle accident... afterwards he had scrambled eggs for a brain
Poor guy hit his head on a curb. He was an Okie too.
He's got a career spanning from the 1960s, been nominated and won several awards and starred in numerous films, television shows and voice acted for video games. How the hell do you think he's underrated?
Iwo Jima, Cambodia, Beruit. Those should have been sequel movies right there. A Predator movie where he stalks a platoon of soldiers in WWII would be awesome.
The battle of Guadalcanal comes to mind.
Could do something interesting where the Japanese and American soldiers have to team up to fight him. Maybe have a Japanese solider survive it so the US doesn't learn what the Predator is fully. Lots of ways to do this.
@@Swarm509 language barrier was one of the selling points of OG Predator. Imagine, watching a Japanese soldier madly rambling about some oni who hunt men during the civil wars before the Tokugawa Shogunate and make trophies with them.

"We prepared a little trap for this Predator" (Keyes 1990) "We thought the Predator was cool so we stuck with that" (The Predator 2018) It is funny how 28 years can pass and how modern films suck in both quality, and especially dialogue.
Agree, and I think the sad thing is also that people today prefer scripts made for the second dialogue you noticed ( an absurd nonsense of course) , but displayed in 4K Uhd.
I couldn't imagine a better actor for this role than Gary Busey!
1:17 One of the monitors shows Anna being interviewed, after Dutch’s rescue.
They killed her after the interview
Never noticed that!
I noticed it the first time I seen this film. She was mentioned in the movie predators by the girl sniper
On the screen next to it you can see the woman from the Jamaican voodoo penthouse massacre in a hospital bed being interviewed as well.
In the plot, they killed Anna
“Grab a seat, enjoy the show” it turned out to be his final performance💺😂
This is an interesting scene because Keys and his team have clearly prepared for the predator more than anyone else. It's impressive the lengths they've gone to in order to capture the predator, but their downfall is ultimately caused by one fatal flaw. Despite all their observations and preparation, it's surprising that their assumption that he can only see in infrared was never tested or investigated in any way.
Indeed, ironically most military think (esp in guerilla warfare) that with superior numbers, weapons and Intel they can defeat an enemy by sheer will, this is arrogance on their behalf (Vietnam/Iraq/Afghanistan etc) here Keyes and his men thought "We know how it behaves, acts, thinks" That's when you've lost.
That dude next to Keyes is Animal Mother from Full Metal Jacket (1987) man, I didn’t even realize until recently.
I remember he did also Independence Day 1996
Isn't that also John Casey from Chuck?
@@robmichael8136 LMAO yes.
Adam Baldwin.
Adam Baldwin. He's been in the biz for a few minutes.
Gotta respect that they managed to track him for 2 weeks, unnoticedand learned his patterns. They underestimated it, but that's still impressive.
Damn its terrifying to know that the predators were so Hi-Tech that they harnessed atomic and nuclear power into a wrist gauntlet that could nearly wipe out an entire county.
It's not necessarily fission. It could be volatile chemical compositions we're not aware of or the much cliched antimatter. Just a microgram would be a kiloton blast.
@@Cognaxance an exotic chemical that is able to start a nuclear chain reaction with oxygen on a minimal base material amount would not be out of the ordinary, as oxygen is a very reactive substance and if you could turn the very air into a nuclear bomb by just exposing a chemical to it, well then...
@@Cognaxance hell, an entire series could be made out of the Chixtulub asteroid not actually having been an asteroid in the Predator universe, but just one Predator having enough time to activate self-destruct on a failed hunt that used to be easy (no prior losses for a long time) versus these Terran "Dinosaurs". What they'd fail to take account of, was a rapidly growing oxygen content due to rapid evolution of the smallest phytoplanktons. They were drawn in with a promise of easy kills on a fast-evolving world. What they got was a reboot on planetary evolution, one they do not come to enjoy at all...
Gary Busey is legendary with Danny Glover, Bill Paxton and Robert Davi Predator 2 is ABSOLUTELY AWESOME and STUNNINGLY AMAZING
Credit to Keyes, he went with his men to attempt to trap the Predator instead of ordering them around from a safe distance.
Murtaugh and Mr Joshua united for predator

Don't forget Captain Murphy
Enjoy the show,this is history
This movie is trully underrated. For some reason I enjoyed it even more than the first one. It would have been really cool if the same directors created AVP crossover - but we have what we have.. I am still waiting for a Concrete Jungle adaptation. It would have been cool to see the movie from the Predator's perspective..
I'm obsessed with military history and the battle of Iwo Jima is one topic I've put a lot of focus on over the years. So I think it's awesome that in this film's universe, there was a predator hunting US Marines and Japanese soldiers during the battle of Iwo Jima.
The marines were pussies and the Predator didn't bother with them.
A very reasonable government antagonist for once. Although I would hesitate to just put on a thermal suit… the pred seems to be able to see the ground and ledges he jumps up and down from perfectly fine; you may not be glowing on a thermal imager; but you definitely have a shape
It was good to see Gary Busey before his accident😊
What happened exactly?
I love how anytime a movie needs a fancy looking control panel with lots of buttons that light up they go, "Hey Carl, pull that shitty old analog video switcher out of the storage shed and stick it over here."
But it looks and sounds cool an that's all that matters 😅
It's hard for me to listen to anything Gary Busey says and not break out laughing.
These clips are SO DAMN SHARP
"A FUCKING ALIEN !!! " , PLEASE give this MAN an OSCAR !!!

Man, I love this movie so much.
I've seen this movie many a times and never thought there would be another one or that his son would star in it
Tanky kevin peter hall.
Arnold could have at least done a brief cameo in the movie which we see him on video being interviewed about the Predator.
Then he might as well play the lead role. You don't waste a huge star like that on a cameo.
Where in this movie that was
No just no
He was originally going to have Keyes’ role, but the studio scoffed at the price he was asking for.
@@Kwatcher100lol no, that role doesn't make sense for Arnold. what bullshit.
Sending in mr Joshua!
I love how this scene contrasts with the earlier King Willie scene. King Willie may have been wrong (or at least he misinterpreted) the Predator's origin but he was correct in that it was virtually unstoppable. He didn't underestimate it. Keyes however was correct in its origin ("it's a fucking alien") but he and his team were arrogant enough to think they could stop it. Harrigan got both perspectives and was able to finally understand and defeat it. Totally underappreciated movie
Don't you just love the sound of the doors in this?

1:09 A fucking alien!
I struggle with this scene. If the blast was 300 square blocks, Dutch wouldn’t have survived that. Also, we had/have bombs that have a blast much bigger than 300 square blocks. That part of the technology is the least meaningful. No reason to even mention that
Humans have light weight bombs you can carry on your person that can level 300 square blocks? I don't think so
@@fuzzyfennec7493 I said that we have bombs that have a blast of that size. It wouldn’t be the most important aspect of reverse engineering due to that. Also, go look at some nuclear warheads that can produce a blast that size and that you can carry. It’s not lightweight though like this. The other technology is far more important.
The US had a "Special Atomic Demolition Munition" that fit in a duffel bag and allegedly had a yield up to one kiloton, so...I don't know if that levels 300 square blocks but I wouldn't want to see it tried.
@@JebHoge that’s what I’m referring to. It’s more than 300 blocks blast. 15 by 15 blocks is 3/4 of a mile radius. It’s not super light weight but can be carried and produce a much bigger blast. Hence why that weaponry would be the least important to obtain
Dutch survived the blast with plot armor.
At the end of the day, I feel like Keys was doing this for Humanity as a whole, a leg up on Technology. Damn he sure did try.
If Aliens were like this or the xenamorpths in Aliens were like this, we’d all be screwed as a species and planet earth would be screwed.

Do you see them fuckin over each other for a percentage.
No one knew then that the most dangerous creature in there movie was Gary Busey.
There were two flaws in the plan. One was the lights. The second was trying to capture him alive.
ASMR GOLD HERE!!!
300 CITY BLOCKS YET ARNIE SURVIVED? BAHAHAHHAAH
He ran fast
He dived below the blast's shockwave according to Predator science.
Arnie ran and got over a hill and down the other side. The terrain was in the way of the blast. Watch it again-it’s plausible with the hill and Arnie on the reverse slope.
Goddamn, this quality is outstanding.
I always remember the "Oh My" more than any other line for some reason?
_This is history_
A few moments later … Busey gets chopped in half
So, the footage of the crew in radiation suits surveying the nuclear blast, and the existence of Keyes and his team trying to capture the alien, at least shows that Dutch was believed and not just locked away in a military prison as a nutter who murdered his own men. Though when you think about it, at the end of the first Predator, that general from the beginning of the movie was in the helicopter when he rescued Dutch and he saw the nuclear blast himself (along with the pilot). So it would have been hard to discount Dutch's story entirely.
You’re dealing with a Buttered Sausage😂😭
Ice CUbe - PRedator did some audio work. Ooh boy. A fuckin sampler.
Where’s Riggs when he needed him.
"Grab a seat, enjoy the show.." As far as i see it, the Predator enjoyed the show more than them 😂
If I did the math correctly "300 city blocks" would be a path about 18 miles wide and 37 miles long give or take.
I've noticed Busey & Nick Nolte both treated themselves like giant walking drug toilets over the decades. It's a biological miracle they're alive this long. Fame & wealth must be like a concentrated poison for some folks. It bums me because of the talent & acquired skill necessary to get the craft to a certain point, and simultaneously it fizzes away like a carbonated drink. Guess I'd have ta walk a mile in their shoes.
Or do a mile of Cocaine.
That “control panel” the tech is sat down in front of is actual a switcher used in broadcasting, probably Grass Valley.
The Death Star’s death beam also was controlled by a Grass Valley switcher.
Mike harrigan: I didn't think he's a vegetarian Keyes:we have a trap for this predator Peter keyes and his team from black ops tried to capture the creature in meat leader but failed thanks for the predator using ultraviolet mode on his wrist gauntlet to located them where they are while ambushed them and kill them with combistick.
"I didn't think he was vegetarian!"
They cut the best line. "This, is history". - Gary Busey

How cool would this encounter be if instead of wasting 30 minutes earlier in back story they had made Busey's character much smarter, with about 4-5 backup devices or technologies. But no they just cut him in half.

God I love this movie but the fact they risked going in there with standard flashlights is the dumbest shit I've ever heard. If he can see body heat, he can see the heat of any light
He did mention UV light. But, you're right. He was not counting that the predator would have an advanced vision setting. Possibly oversaw this detail because he did say, "We are too close." To me, that statement and his mistake of their ahoulder flashlights just showed how Keyes was desperate to capture the predator. Perhaps he was promised exclusive rights to produce the technology from the predator.
