M777 and HIMARS: How is NATO Artillery Technology Fighting Against Russian Artillery in Ukraine?
The war in Ukraine has evolved into a bloody combination of trench warfare techniques from 100 years ago and 21st century technology. In particular, Bakhmut has turned into a front that needs to be pondered over by combat experts with the images reflected in the press and social media.
Since the Russians were either unwilling or unable to bring their air force into the battle in sufficient numbers to dominate the war, they were forced to rely heavily on the other option: The use of massed artillery.
In the very beginning of the war both Russia and Ukraine had ex-Soviet artillery. However things have changed since billions of dollars in munitions have flooded into Ukraine from NATO and other nations.
The M777 Howitzer and HIMARS were possibly the most game-changing pieces of artillery equipment.
These two weapon systems provided the Ukrainians with two very important benefits that repeatedly ruin Russians' days.

Their special ammunition include M982 Excalibur rounds, XM1156 PGKs and GLSDBs.

Self-propelled howitzers are clearly superior because with these vehicles the shoot and scoot tactic is possible. WRONG WRONG WRONG. The Excalibur rounds is not the most heavily use rounds in Ukraine. Think before you write garbage. Do your research and figure out why you are wrong. I am sure many on this channel can figure that out , why that round is not the most heavily used and they are not in the military.
