Out of all the belt adapters I've seen, this by far exceeds them all for ingenuity, and for sourcing parts. How simple this is with some MDF, 1/4" steel plate, washers, a strut, and the best was using the bicycle hubs instead of over priced wheels and bearings. One of these adapters sell for at least $175.00 US dollars and this cost him a few bucks for the hubs and sand paper. Blows me away how resourceful people can be. Thank you for sharing. I've saved this to my favorites so I can make one too!!! God bless you sir.
Mr. after viewing some 10 to 13 videos on building a belt sander yours was the most innovative and a real DIY,, i seen one video where the fellow was using a metal lathe to make his, one had 3 HP motor and so on, MAN YOU WON this contest, I just can't wait to make one for my sister.... SHE THE JONESS, from making a cool bar from old TV console to her own epoxy counter top now turning wood, she gonna be impressed and i let her know about your channel. YOU ROCK PAL !!! THX. rite on
I was going to write pretty much exactly what you have written. Glad I read the comments section first.
@@NeillWylie is she your sister as well?
What?
Very cool build. Loved the use of scrap bike hubs. Really imaginative. Cheers.
Why roll up your pants cuffs? To catch more welding sparks?
15:45 very good, strong and simple design. Perhaps, you might want to consider another nut, on the swivel on roller bracket, as that 'one' might come loose, or even a self-locking nut, the ones with the nylon in the end......great build, and enjoy your day !
You build what you need...........and with the resources you have. That's real ingenuity............ and it never gets boring. Great work!
Mejor que hecha de fábrica. Que técnica y precisión. Enhorabuena!!.
Greetings from Ecuador my friend , I was in Turkish the last year, my daughter live and studing in Ankara, I love Turkish, your work are amazing
Çok güzeldir Türkiye ve Ankara 🇹🇷 Ekvadora selamlar.
HOORAH!! At last, and accessible belt grinder build 😃 I have a bench grinder but only really use one side and as it happens, I'm very much in need of a belt grinder. I think the only thing I would do differently is to make the table adjustable so it can be set to specific angles but other than that, it's a perfect and easy to accomplish solution. Thank you so much for documenting and sharing your project, you have done a great service and I will be sure to credit you for your very clever idea when i get round to making mine 😉

People who can make things with modest tools always impressed me. My Hungarian grandfather was like this, he could make anything it of nothing. Your belt sander has some great ideas I think I'll use when building one for myself. Great job!
😊 teşekkür ederim 👍🏻
usta ellerine sağlık ellerin dert dert görmesin harikasın.
One of the best grinder builds I have seen, Really nice work. Cheers.
6 yıl okul okudum senin yüzünden işi bırakıp kendime atölye açacağım usta. senin videoları izlerken acayip keyif alıyorum. Kolay Gelsin.
I like how you made that to fit many different lengths of belts.
Exelente !! Muy sencillo y funcional...fácil de hacer !!!
Excellent! Love the REAL DIY of this project. The HP of the motor is maybe 1/2 HP so you need to be gentle on pushing too hard against the back plate. I would not weld the base grind plate but make it bolt on with two bolts so you can have different base plate options. Love the small shock as the tension and adjustable middle wheel to dial in tracking. Two thumbs way up!

La mejor que he visto en KZhead. Felicitaciones.

Felicitaciones 👍👍👍
Ustam helal olsun valla ,hep yabancılar yapıyordu bu işi bizdende çıktı şükür yolun açık olsun.
This is really professional work, and limited to very simple tools, impressive indeed, and beautiful result!
Good job. Im going to do something like this also . I was impressed by your circle cutter I havent seen too many peopke use one like that in a hand drill. Im fortunate I have a few machine tools. My dad built a huge belt sander when I was a kid and made the pulleys the same way you did. He made a long bench and mounted it to the wall got it all set up. It made so much dust that he never used it.
Ellerinize sağlık ustam güzel işçilik temiz iş çıkardınız. Kolay gelsin.

Great job, simple enough and within the budget of any DIY handy person. Anaco, Anz.
yes, finally one we can build that doesn't need a CNC machine and plasma cutter.
Kemal, I have been seeing a lot of others designs and this was by far the simplest. While seeing some of the other DIYs, there was a lot of lathe and milling involved, and i always thought they could use a teflon to make the drive roller and old bicycle wheels to make the rollers and you did all of those. Absolutely amazing. You indeed are a kamal! Respects from Pakistan. I have subscribed to your channel and looking forward to more of your work.
Çok teşekkür ederim ☺️ 👍🏻🤗

This is a beautiful design. The simplicity and elegance are amazing. Very nice project and video work!
Çok teşekkür ederim ☺️
A very practical approach for those who wish to build their own belt sander. Congratulations!
19:33 I would have bolted this on so it could be adjusted to grind at different angles and not just the fixed 90 degrees. Excellent work though, it looks very good. I especially like the gas shock to keep tension on the belt.
nice project. well done. how do the bicycle hub bearings hold up over time at that high rpm? cheers
Definitely the best belt sander build I've seen,it actually looks stronger than shop bought.
I wish I had your talents. That was wonderful to see. Thank you!
Very simple and educational, no crazy annoying music, just the voice if machinery. Thank you Usta.
Te ha quedado perfecto. Simple, eficaz y bonita
Awesome conversion! Just a tip for the future: I've made a bench grinder conversion like this in the past, and found that leaving the stone on is a must, because it works like a flywheel. Without it the belt would easily slow down to a stop with barely any pressure. I didn't notice if you did it, but the rear wheel that you adjust the belt with, should be slightly barrel shaped to keep the belt adjusted easier
Really good tips! I hate mentioning this, but some lucky bastard will find this comment. The only good bench grinders ever made were "Dunlap" and "Craftsman." They cost a billion dollars online used, or some complete moron might let you borrow theirs. They are so much better than other grinders that they are only bench grinders worth owning, and you can take your other one IMMEDIATELY to the scrapyard. You cannot slow or stop the motor on a Craftsman grinder, you can stick a pipe into the wheel and try to stop it, and it won't stop, they are dangerously overpowered (but awesome). I have one rated for "1/2" horsepower. I might turn it into a belt grinder, because it has the power to do it.
Normalde alet iş yapar el övünür derler ama bu söz sana gelince el iş yapar alet övünür oluyor abi. Önceden kötü bi taşlama makinesiydi şimdi şerit zımparaya döndü. Level atlattın resmen. Eline sağlık.

It's cool seeing arc welders or "stick welders." You don't see arc welders at all in American shops anymore. People use MIG or TIG. It's shocking how many people have a $5,000 TIG welding setup. WOW, I can't believe how round and accurate you got the tensioner and guide pulleys on this. The belt looks glassy smooth. Most of the videos I've seen of home builds, they use a big expensive lathe, and their belt still shakes around quite a bit from the parts being slightly out of round. That's incredible that you used bicycle hubs, and were able to make it so smooth.
I wonder if the wooden drive wheel dipped in a rubberized coating would make it grip better, and longer durability. Like plastidip, or maybe gaco deck or something, pretty sweet tho
Maybe stretch and glue an old inner tube over it ? I think I need to make one of these !
The tensioner provides more than enough force to maintain perfect friction between the wooden drive shaft and the belt for other than extreme use. In my opinion, don't over engineer a sound idea.
@@moahs5682 it's going to have to be super tight. Why are most drive wheels made out of rubber. I've seen them slip on something similar to this.
@@moahs5682 plywood as drive wheel, a sound idea, lol
Could use 3 hockey puck instead of wood
Genial trabajo parcero 👏👏
Beautiful work, you are a superb craftsman. Please keep building and showing videos!! Thank you!!
never would have thought to use a piston instead of spring for tension. That is freaking genius!
No lathe, no drillpress, no overcomplicated tool ! I freaking love turkish engineering !
Excelente!!! Gracias por mostrar tus habilidades. Bendiciones
I was thinking, hows he going to place the springs? The you used the hydraulic and blew my head off. Great job. Been watching a lot of restoration videos and you eastern block guys sure do know your way around an angle grinder. Bravo. A+
Fascinating project. Nicely done
I have to get me one of those things. You did a hella good job on this one. I would have never thought of using those bicycle bearings like that.

If you do any sharpening it would be a nice idea at least from my perspective to add an attachment to set angles on and have a wide and tall platform to guide the tools or knives across.
David you’re ask too much he did a good job. Me thinks he’s sharp enough to make that addition but apparently didn’t need it. But you could always make your own, right?
well i have being looking to make one these and i am so glad to stumble on this video this is the best and simplest design i have seen so far great job

Absolutely brilliant!! Florida USA
Excellent Fabrication my friend but I thought when you put the rest plate at 90° you should have bolted it for adjustment. Nevertheless like I said excellent work keep it up!!!
I thought this was great until he welded the stop too. It would have been so easy to simply drill two holes and use bolts to make it removable.
At first I thought that too, but then... he's a carpenter, not a machinist, so maybe that level of precision grinding isn't required? Then again, if he does find he needs it, I don't suppose it'll be a problem for him to fix it how he wants, he seems like a pretty resourceful kinda guy!!
