Thanks again Jer - I know we've been in contact about this, but I forgot to add it to this thread, to hopefully encourage anyone that's on-the-fence about proceeding with the build. For anyone that wants to see my build, I've made a video of the process. Cheers 👍

    • @@FEEDbigJAKE Hi Jake. It cost me a little over 800 AUD. But it would probably not cost exactly the same for you. I had some aluminium in stock, and a motor, and about 1/4 of the steel, which saved me some money. Although, I spent money on a radius cutter, motor bearings, paint for the motor, and other little things, that most folks would not need to buy. Included in my total is the cost of the plans and the extra steel for the accessories that Jer offers too (which I have not yet made). Thanks, Craig

  • Man I don’t care what you’re working on.....I’m always glad to see you putting out some videos, or even knowing you’re working on projects off camera. Don’t let the stress and dread of making content effect your creativity and work. If you want to do a project and not make a video about it… Then by God your happiness is more important than putting out content! I can’t imagine having to drag out camera equipment every time I wanted to work on a project. That would seriously keep me out of my workshop, and I don’t want to see that happen to any creator. I enjoy your thought process and how you problem solve, While bringing in new ideas to all of your projects and going above and beyond in your engineering and design. You’re constantly pushing the envelope and doing something new and different with timeless old designs. The belt sander is a wonderful example, the handmade machined pen is another great example, ....but my favorite is the wooden pocket sheath for your ruler. That was an incredible project to see so many design iterations and a ridiculous amount of thought in each and every detail. From the clean out of dust in the ruler pocket, to the bending of the metal clip, and the curve put into the body to friction hold the ruler. Just incredible! I’ve watched that video over a dozen times. That’s a great example of how to bring new thought to an old idea, which is what I’m constantly trying to do in my shop and in my business. I left a comment for you several weeks ago regarding stress and Depression and a few other things you had mentioned previously… And it seems like things are headed in a better direction for you mentally and I hope you continue The hard task of learning how to enjoy the process of problem-solving. Whether or not you decide to share that with us isn’t a big deal… What’s important is that you figure out a way to enjoy what you’re doing…and hopefully that makes life on this shit-hole earth a bit less miserable and you can find a few random hours of peace and quiet in your mind. Rock on brother!

I appreciate your decision to include small pointers which may be obvious to someone with a lot of experience, but could send someone astray without that experience. To me your video is an intersection of the following channels Rainfall Projects, Mechanical Lumber, Made in Poland, Make it Extreme and Practical Engineering. • Regarding those overlapping holes @13:18, you can drill them safely without problems if you drill every other hole first, then in-between them. This way the drill sees a symmetrical cut and doesn't wander :)

  • The minor changes really add a lot. I really like the mcmaster handles being on a 45 degree angle. Locking the bar into the opposite corner.

  • I built a grinder that was inspired by your first video. The only thing it really shared in the end, was that it was very heavy and grey. I must get your metric plans, because your design is pure genius! You are an amazingly talented engineer.
