Recently emulated Madden 07 for the PS2 and its easily the most fun I've had playing a football game.
Did it take a lot of time? Im considering doing the same. I miss playing decent football games. Did you use rhe emulator above?
@@musicum22 I used the PCSX2 emulator, and the download took about 2 hours since I downloaded the ROM from Vimm's Lair on my browser.

Great video. I'm definitely going to try a few of these out I've been playing almost exclusively sports games these last couple of months after getting worn out of gran turismo. NHL 2004, Madden 06, and NBA 2k11. I like the vision cone in madden 06.

Thanks for including MLB 10: The Show. I bought a copy for my PS3 a few years ago and it's by far my favourite The Show title. You should also give NHL 2K5 and Nascar: Dirt to Daytona a try
Dirt to daytona is the GOAT of console nascar gaming in my opinion. I knew a sim racer that raced irl and he tried the game at hard-core settings and said it was scary close to how it would be irl.

Try madden 08 on wiiu with gamecube emulator. Using the wiiu gamepad it look like a portable ps2 game.

Good to mention that The Xbox Series S/X can run Xenia for unsupported/deslisted Xbox 360 games, as well as emulating PS2, PS1, PSP, Wii, Gamecube, Gameboy, Dreamcast, N64, and Windows 98, and the list is just growing, along with Microsoft's official emulators for Original Xbox and Xbox 360.

Tecmo Super Bowl was my first modded sports game. Tecmo Repository has a bunch of roms and even include 32 teams, new roster and logos.

Love College Football Revamped. Finally learned how to edit jerseys two weeks ago and for me personally it's a game changer although I still have a ton to learn.
Great informative vid, I guess I've really been out of the loop, didn't even know there was a functional OG Xbox emulator at all, that was a pipedream I wished so badly existed back in the day, I'll definitely have to check it out :) I'm getting a million times more satisfaction playing older titles on emulator than anything that comes out these days. Recently got into 2k5 myself and am still getting the passing down, am pretty good running. It's in an entirely different league and world than the old ps2 maddens that I used to play all the time lol

how did you get 2k8 and backbreaker on the series S? I thought emulating that generation was impossible right now with a Series S.
I've been lucky enough to always know how to emulate well enough, and now have the means to do so. I do keep up with the modern stuff (I personally enjoy NHL 23 and MLB the Show 22 and literally use madden to open packs because I like to do trading)
I play MLB the show and other older football games on my phone via emulation with the PS1 emulator and PSP one. I'd be great to do another video on just emulation for classic sports games on older consoles than PS2!

Havent tried it on steam deck but NHL 14 is also very solid on rpcs3. NHL blitz 2002/2003/pro are also solid on pcsx2. Same with NHL 2004 and the other games. You can emulate ps2/ps1/gamecube on the xbox series consoles too, and the emulation is solid on there.

2KHS is a mod for NHL2K11 that fully converts the game to have HD graphics, classic rosters and very much improved realistic gameplay. - from the 2KHS website

Depends on what you grew up with but there is a mod of the fan favorite NHL 94 with updated rosters, commentary, and other tweaks at least through the 2022-2023 season. Once I get some time to really understand how to do it, I’m definitely getting that (NHL 94), NCAA 14 College Football Revamped, Madden 05 mods, and Madden 03 & 04 and 99 for nostalgia, and my favorite sports game ever NBA 2K11.
Can't wait till I'm able to play UFC Undisputed 3 and NHL 11 for the PS3 or Xbox 360 on the deck. There's been major improvements in the emulator's compatibility and performance, but not to the point where it's playable yet.

I tried to emulate 2K5, NCAA 06 & even Arena Football on PCSX2, but it kept slowing down & lagging, no matter how much I changed to options on my emulator. I couldn’t get Xemu working on my laptop either, but I’ll try again some other time. I got Madden NFL 06 on ps2 to work somewhat. Loved the game when I was little. Superstar mode got a lot of playtime with me. 😄
Try the GameCube version of Madden 06 on Dolphin emulator, it should run smoother if your laptop isn’t very strong

Maybe I jumped the gun a little, but I don’t care. When I came across this video last week an learned of the Steam Deck as well as its emulation power I was sold. I bought one the next day lol. The ability to play NFL 2K5 an NCAA Football 06 with updated graphics an rosters is amazing for me! These two games take me straight back to my childhood. I can’t wait to get mine delivered. Very excited!

I still have a number of game breaking bugs while doing franchise for the 7th generation of consoles, but it’s exciting for these to even work on emulators.

I have been saving to get a gaming laptop. Definitely looking forward to make the most of it with those emulators. Especially NCAA Football and College Hoops. I wanted to get a Steam Deck but I am afraid some games are not able to being fully run in it. Does a laptop with a 3070 have enough power for current and past games?

I've been emulating NCAA 06, and boy, it's been a fucking blast. It's addicting, it's demanding, and it's amazing. There are so few games that make me feel the way classic PS2 football games make me feel. 10/10.

Yeah, he doesn't say you will need to ticker with the RPCS3 settings to get All Pro Football 2k8 to run smoothly on the Steam Deck. I ran it on my first attempt and the game displayed many graphical glitches with textures for uniforms not popping up and being all black

Emulating Madden 08 and Ncaa08 during the pandemic kept me sane
Only thing with transfering draft classes from ncaa14 to Madden 25 is that glitch where all the imported players have 0 toughness, making them basically unusable because of injuries

Been emulating on Steam Deck with NFL 2k5, NCAA 06, and other great sports games and it's been awesome! The only thing is, I can't seem to get All Pro 2k8 to run as smooth. It seems to be very choppy most of the time. I'm sure it's some obvious setting I need to tweak in the SD but no one's listed out their setting for it yet.
i would love if you make a video about mlb power pro series. My life mode(my career) and Success mode(story mode) are very unique. I believe my life mode should be the standard for sport game player career mode. Nowadays the series(japan exclusive) also has an dynasty mode but for high school baseball(fell like an board game with the goal to create the best players,they even have online tournament). I would love to see your opinion about the"heavy focus on create player game mode" of power pro franchise which make it very unique compare to western sport video game imo.
I remember the first ps4 game I played nba 2k15 the graphics blew my mind I felt like I was in the future the day some emulates it I don't even know what I'll do with myself

Imagine in an alternate universe, Triple A companies continuing to make great sports games (EA, 2k, etc) without microtransactions and building on their foundations instead of tearing them down
The microtransaction thing isn't that big of a deal really. You just simply don't spend your money.

Any wrestling games that emulate well on steam deck? I played a lot of WWE 2k14 on PS3. Inferno match plus the ability to upload custom music as entrance themes. It was the last time it was possible without actually modding.

i feel the main reason these games were so much better was because this was when no one gave a rats ass about certain visuals. Complaints about towel location or having authentic cleats and accurate gear per player or FACESCANS. This was when they took a .png and wrapped it around some polygons and designed everything else in detail. it was damn good then and still is now. Once i figured out how to mod the xbox buttons into PCSX2 to coincide with my xbox controller on PC it was a wrap.

I feel like us sports gamers are always left out when it comes to gaming. No innovation, one company making one version of a certain sport, and when Microsoft did game ports from the Xbox 360 they didn't bring over any popular sports games. Everyone was hoping for ncaa14. But, I'm so thankful that we have modders in our community! I've thought about the steam deck but I was disappointed when I found out it couldn't emulate ncaa14. So I bought something that can emulate it But I don't remember the old ones so maybe I'll download them on my PC and see if I can do without ncaa14
The perks of having a PC. RPCS3, PCSX, PCSX2, Dolphin. The possibilities are endless. I just copped NFL 2K23 and it’s literally shitting on MADDEN 23! That’s sad as hell.

NFL 2k5 is my all time favorite, I was playing it on my phone but it started lagging so I need a better emulator for my OnePlus 10pro

Oh that’s a INT/Incomplete pass 95 percent of the time, the detail to tracking the ball when it’s released, adjusting for the ball, timing the jump to only where the WR could have the best chance to grab it?! Madden on current more powerful tech can’t even give us a functioning franchise mode

Im currently getting my 6 GEN console football and NBA2k fix on the wiiu. With the Nintendont emulator. The wiiu gamepad displays in 480p. Its like a portable ps2 haha.

2k5 is a must with updated rosters. For madden. My favorites of the 6th gen were 06, and 07. Madden 08 is my favorite on da 7th gen consoles. I'd experiment with all of em if I were u and choose witch ones u like. Have fun. 👍

It had a glitch where it would freeze during the opening Jordan moment which locked up the game. I’ll have to test it further
