  • Hey Midas, thanks for investing your time in such content! Been enjoying Steam Deck for slightly less than a month and am totally in love with the device! Simply a no-brainer for someone who has a large steam library and a backlog :) Glad that found this video, as your content format fits the best for its purpose! A brief game overview and feedback - check! A sample gameplay video on Deck - check! Suggested settings for smooth gameplay - check! Valuable tips and other platform references - check! Good diction and clear language - check (well perceived at up to x2 speed 🙂)! Thanks, got yourself a subscriber :) Looking forward to more such content 👍 If to look for some old gems that received the Deck support (the game has not yet been verified but works flawlessly at 60fps on max settings with low power consumption) - Severance: Blade of Darkness. The grandfather of all souls games that gameplay-wise holds up pretty great even now :)

  • One thing to note about the witcher 3 is that it recently got next gen update, which tanked the performance and the improvements are barely worth it on a small screen. Luckily in steam you can go to game properties -> betas and select "classic" version of the game. It runs at a mix of high and ultra settings (hairworks off) at a locked 40 FPS and is probably the most beautiful looking game on the deck.

I just have one very small nitpicky point. In the beginning you mention the Steamdeck is "like a PC"... Hahaha... I have docked it and used it to go onto desktop mode onto a multiple monitor setup with keyboard and mouse and used it to do my schoolwork, and my regular work. I just like using Linux... 😁

  • Great video glad I got recommended this I'm gonna watch your other vids at 8:30 or so though you say you get a stable 40 at the same time you're dropping frames lol. NBD but goes to show how different people are sensitive to different things. Imagine a world though where we can install a VRR capable screen. Now when you're getting 40 you're getting 40, and the small dips into the 30s are hardly noticable. I think that is going to be a game changer, even if it's only on external screens for the time being

Bot wow - what was this stutter on the RDR2 sequence in your vid? Brutal frame drop. I also to have Witcher III and all of the AC games on a separate MicroSD card bundled together. And of course, I do have CIV VI - this is a very comfy game.

  • Just got mine the other day and a 512gb sd card filled with games. So far I've played brotato, NFS:heat, dome keeper, and a few other resource none intensive games. But I also have ghost recon wildlands, cyberpunk 2077, sniper ghost warrior (?), and a few other bigger more intense games I'll be trying after work. Everything so far, except NFS: heat runs great. I'll have to do some settings tuning for that game but I expect that it'll work out great in the end.

  • Capping a games frame rate to 30 fps will be better for most triple a games and really be the smoothest experience playing with a unstable fps vs a stable will generally feel better and provide the best experience plus you can boost the games graphics as well. It may not at first if you're used to higher frame rates but once a your eyes adjust you'll see a difference in the "feel".

    @xakira666x@xakira666x Жыл бұрын
    • Probably true, I have a switch and most games on it run at 30fps which seems fine. From what I’ve seen 40 hz is often recommended because it allows games to run with less battery but is still a noticeable improvement in smoothness to the eyes. I think there may also be an advantage to having the fps match the refresh rate of the screen as well, (I think it cuts down on screen tearing) though I’m less sure of that and I don’t know if the steam deck screen can be set lower than 40 hz. Though I agree that having a locked 30 fps would be better than 40 fps with stuttering frame drops

My list is like yours, I'm not a single genre player and I'll play POE for a few days then take a break and go over to something else. But as a father of 4 my gaming time is limited to after 8pm so the deck suits that lifestyle at the end of the day.

The only difference being that the anti glare glass does diffuse the light a bit so the screen is a tiny bit less defined. I ordered the 64gb version and will put a glass screen protector on it. With those I could go with either anti glare or normal glass depending on which I prefer

  • How does the deck feel in the hands while playing for long period of time have you ever played with a controller Bluetooth to the deck or do you play it using the dock into a monitor

    • Second would you be upgrading your sticks to hall affect ones so no stick drift

      @3dtheking@3dtheking Жыл бұрын
    • I’ve been considering that hall sticks upgrade for a bit now but I’m not experiencing any stick drift yet so I’m still on the fence about if I need it or not but there’s a good chance I’ll do it anyway. Playing for hours used to be the worst but I got used to it in time. I just change positions when I’m tired in one.

  • I've been playing days gone since I got my deck 3 weeks ago, really been enjoying it. Stays at close to 40 aside from the random drops if riding a bike in the super populated zombie hordes or the camps while on the bike. Also been enjoying Prey from 2017 that plays really smooth I keep it at 40fps
