A scientist who has recently lost his wife, Dr. David Banner, finds himself in the heart of a catastrophic experiment. As a result, anytime Banner becomes overly angry or stressed, he transforms into the Incredible Hulk, a gigantic green monster with superhuman power and wrath. To avoid being found, Banner leads a nomadic life, moving from town to town in quest of a cure and offering assistance where he can, all the while dodging the prying eyes of journalist Jack McGee, who seeks to expose Banner and the Hulk. "Don't make me angry. You wouldn't like me when I'm angry." He is the Incredible Hulk.

  • Now *this* is a concept that sells itself. Banner tracks down a scientist who created his own version of the Hulk several years back ... in hopes that the latter had a cure for the affliction. Well, a cure was found, but the cured individual wants this ability back ... and gets his wish. And it doesn't end until both Hulks duke it out ... a fight that doesn't end until one of them literally dies. This series's two-parters were never bad, but this particular one was flat-out dynamite.

  • The first is some of the best episodes of the series, I always found Dell to be somewhat sympathetic because he just wanted to be healthy again and was so tired of everyone picking on him for being weak. I can relate to that so much since I suffer from vision loss from a genetic eye disease. There was actually going to be another Hulk, Kenneth Johnson the creator of the show wanted to do his version of She-Hulk for the 5th season where Helen was dying from a blood disease and the only way for David to save her was through a blood transfusion. But CBS (for some reason) wasn't interested, by that point they had gotten bored of the series so they cancelled it.

    @jeremyknight9980@jeremyknight99805 ай бұрын
    • That explanation is a bit over-simplified. I remember hearing rumor that Johnson wanted to spawn a She-Hulk series ... but at the same time wrap up the Bixby Hulk series. The thing is, Johnson wouldn't be resolving the things that caused him to become discontent with the Bixby series - namely budget constraints, network censorship, and pressure to recycle certain themes instead of encouraging versatility. So, those same problems would have manifested in the She-Hulk series. Tragically, it was Johnson himself who was interested in pulling the plug of the 1970s show, and the ratings of the series - at that point - weren't high enough for the network to object. A series closing finale was planned, but then there was the Writer's Strike, so no closing episode was ever written or produced. Ultimately, we ended up with half of a final season produced and aired. We'd get TV specials of the Hulk from time to time, but that's as far as it went. There was even another TV special planned for production, but Bixby's death put an abrupt to that.

    • From what I read, Kevin Johnson wanted to start the she hulk but Stan Lee heard about the idea and decided to create it in the comics. It put the kibosh on starting it for tv first. There was a planned sequel to death of the incredible hulk in which Bridget Nielson would play she-hulk, scientists bring back the hulk from banners body and hulk would speak with the mind of banner in control in a project to make multiple hulks for super soldiers (not the U.S. side). It never happened because of Bill's health in decline.

You're confusing 'Swamp Thing' star Dick Durock with Richard Kiel, who played Jaws in the Roger Moore Bond films 'The Spy Who Loved Me' (1977) and 'Moonraker' (1979). Whereas Durock was an impressive 6'6 tall, Kiel was a towering 7'2. I always thought it was SO strange that they wanted to "tone down" Lou's makeup from the pilot movie and first few episodes of the series, due to it being too scary for little kids. They knew that a lot of kids were watching the series with their parents, so they made the show more "kid friendly", until this episode about a hulk that kills people. It never made any sense to me why they made Dell Frye's creature look SO much scarier than Lou had ever looked as the Hulk to scare kids. I guess they wanted him to come across as being pure evil, which he did. I do LOVE this two-part episode "The First" and the story as an adult, but it really did give me nightmares as a kid for a long time. 😉

  • This highly unusual scene in the entire series in that David Banner DOES NOT turn into his hulk when he confronts the Double Hulk. This is very unusual. One would have expected the Banner to change especially when the Double Hulk first grabs Banner's arm. I think one scene in the entire series where Banner gets as close as he can to turning into the Hulk but doesn't. Banner would most definitely would had changed when he jumps to avoid the cansister the Double Hulk throws at him. Fortunately Banner gets knocked out in the process and doesn't change. Nevertheless, this is truly a close close scene in the entire series.

    • What exactly was Banner reaching for when Frye's creature grabbed his arm?

      @eq1373@eq13735 ай бұрын
  • Caption should say an old hulk is reborn 😂. The detail in making Frye's hulk a polar opposite is excellent. He's thin and lanky, not bulky. He's evil, not compassionate. Even his mannerisms are opposite. While David's hulk flexes by curling his arms inwards (kinda like a "most muscular" at bodybuilding competitions), Frye's hulk flails his arms outward in a awkward fashion.
