  • Let me say something about this recipe. My grandmother baked bread during the depression, it was how my mom survived. So needless to say my mother was also amazing with breads and pastries. Now, me I went into brewing and had a brewery and pizza place in Va. So I have some background on bread. This recipe is the Best!. I was flattened when I tasted this. Just blown away. So my mom, God rest her soul made what was called Nutrolls at Christmas. She would fill orders this stuff was so good. It was basically her twist on a Portuguese sweet bread with maple/ pecan fill. Now then I had this French trained chef next door to my brewery and he made, get this- French toast from Portuguese sweet bread. So imagine all these ideas and such when I tasted this. So if you take this bread recipe, bake it, and then make french toast, we will have come full circle my friends!!! It is that good. Thank you for not only the best bread recipe, but overall winner on KZhead for me.🎯 PS, from my brewing experience, it is the sweetness from the lactose that gives this bread it's winning flavor. Lactose cannot be eaten by yeast so it's stays sweet😊

I did chop up the whole cranberries so they were finer than having a whole berry which can tear the bread. I also added 1 teaspoon of orange oil in my dough while I was mixing all the ingredients, but next time I might add a little more. It's all on how you like it to taste. Cinnamon would be delicious in that as well. I was just experimenting and it came out really good.

Could I use self rising flour instead?

      @JESUSfreak00@JESUSfreak003 жыл бұрын
    • @@JESUSfreak00 Self raising flour you can't control the rise, so I wouldn't. Here is the ingredients that were under the video that I used. I researched similar recipes and they all roughly had the same amount of flour used. You can experiment and use a little less to see how it works for you. Different amounts may vary based on your location due to weather, elevation, flour, etc. This comes together really fast. I also reached out to Emma's Goodies to see if she can make something similar so we can compare. I also noticed when researching other recipes that the condensed milk was more than what they have here. So depends on how sweet you would like it to be. I also started measuring in "grams" they say it's a more accurate method to use vs cups etc. Seeing most of our measuring cups, spoons, may not all be accurate as we think they are. I've been a custom cake decorator for years and find that it's easier on some stuff, especially making bread. So if you have a kitchen scale I would weight everything in grams. If you don't have a scale, they are fairly cheap and are a good investment. Hope this helps. How to make a soft and fluffy, warm and buttery Condensed Milk Bread. Here's what you'll need: 1 cup milk (250ml) room temp (you can use fresh, UHT or evaporated milk) ¼ cup sweetened condensed milk (75g) 1 egg 2 tbsp sugar (30g) 2 and ¼ tsp instant yeast (7g) (TYPO ERROR IN THE VIDEO--its in TEASPOON not CUP) 3 and ¼ cups All purpose flour (400g) plus more for kneading 1 tsp salt (5g) ¼ cup softened butter (50g) Glaze: 3 tbsp softened butter (45g) 3 tbsp sweetened condensed milk(45g) If this glaze is to sweet, use a confectioners glaze, by doing 1 cup of powdered sugar and 1 tablespoon of milk and stir. If this is to thin, you can add more powdered sugar to get a thicker consistency. I also add a couple drops of orange oil to this and is delicious. You can use whatever flavoring you would like, vanilla also would be good. Be careful when using extracts vs oils, they can be double strength so you would use less. Can always add, but you can't take out. (The glaze used above is a little different so I will use a different glaze next time, you'll see what I mean when you make it, some like the texture, others may not.)

    • I was just thinking that with so much modern technology around us, why doesn’t an oven range have a proofing feature?!? I really appreciate your idea, I made Phyllis Stokes and son (her son took over her channel after she passed away, but her content is still there and he’s done a wonderful job maintaining her vibe) Angel Biscuits, they are always a hit so I make them for special occasions, anyway, I had a small space heater I would put in my laundry room and it worked great, well that thing stopped working so I used the o my other one SS had, and weirdly it kept causing the breaker to flip, so now I have your genius idea to try the next time I’m making a yeast bread! Edit: I forgot to mention that the Angel biscuits are really more like a dinner roll/biscuit hybrid they are light and yesterday instead of placing them on cookie sheets, I used regular muffin tins, and that will be the way I make them forever, I cut them to a size that was a perfect fit to drop the dough in the tins.

    • I get confused with the measurements. The 'and' specifically. For instance, where it says 2 and 1/4 yeast does that mean to use two packs of 1/4 or 2 1/4??
