Got speaking to a guy I know at the petrol station who owns one of these, we were going to a race track for the day and I was in the passenger seat of my other friends car at the time as I'd left my motor at the hotel. The owner of the E63S threw the keys at me and said "have a go mate drive us to the track", well I was like a pig in shit. Still think that's the coolest thing anyone has ever done for me and I'll be eternally grateful as people don't let other people drive their ridiculously expensive cars. What a machine that E63S is, superlatives fail me.

Chris your E63S videos are one of the many reasons why I bought an E63S. I never get tired of waking the dragon and hearing the gurgles and pops from the exhaust! It's such an awesome car! The M5 is great too, but the exterior needs a refresh. It's stale and outdated. The E63S is truly a unicorn that demands attention and turns heads at every corner. If I could marry that car I would...that's how much I enjoy it. AMG Power! 💪💪💪💪

No the performance for the Merc is the R. Merc has not made a E-Class competition, they only make one R-edition that is in the GT model, Base, S and R.

I think BMW needs to be recognised and given a lifetime achievement award for inspiring and influencing the automobile industry to produce brilliant cars, hence the likes of the E63s/RS and Alfa Romeo QV and many others, BMW has been at the helm, where every manufacturer aimed at the M3 and the M5... M5 Comp isn't the basic models in the states and uk . Down under it is the basic model

So the M5 is more expensive and lighter than the E63 S in the UK. How on earth should they put it against the competition? Should we then say the competition would have to compete against a black series?

Yes I'm sure every businessman wants a car with scaffolding and a refillable water tank in the boot. Come on, the M5 is more comparable to the e63s when you take into account that it's aimed at people who want a luxury cabin. I get the performance arguement of the competition Vs this, but the average buyer of a super saloon is going to buy a regular M5 over a competition

@@SirFlukealot M5 CP does not have roll cage or distilled water tank, you thinking about the GTS. CP : +25hp, 7mm lower, piano black on lot of exterior parts, and louder exhausts ... that's pretty much it (I have one ...)

@@SirFlukealot I get why you though so, the naming can be confusing at times, but yes, the cars are more similar than not, so it's more personal preference and a bit give and take, and not that one is superior to the other across the board. So just to re-iterate the competition is all what a M5 (regular is), but a bit stiffer suspension (it did not bother me at all, and felt much more subtle than both my M3 and 911), a bit more 'cool bits' and a bit power. Most is about the last 10% fine tuning to make it just a tad sharper, faster, quicker and perhaps most important for some ... louder :). For the average person would not be able to tell the difference when driving on a smooth regular road. My take was that I think the CP will hold it's value better, as it's a relative small jump that most people would like to have (my residual is 55%, which is pretty good for such car).
As said in the video, Mercedes or BMW, in the real world it doesn't matter. Maybe only one percent of the owners will ever fully utilise the powers that these cars have.
I have a M2 and a CLS 63 AMG 2016 I enjoy both of them each of them have a different feel to them ❤️
Very easy to put your foot down joining a motorway accelerating flat out from 30-90 mph with 100% power used, same off the lights and same when somone is tailng you on the motorway..these aren't race cars whose handling you have to exploit these are point an squirt cars that you can use all the power especially now they have awd.

Both are thier top models in that class so both should be compared. You wouldnt compare them cause of price cause price dosnt dictate how the car works and drives. All price does is dictate value of the car in question

it's been a few years now. get over it ?
I got the E63S and I haven't regretted it for a second. It's the perfect combination of total luxury, comfort and sheer, unabashed lunacy. It was pretty painful to have to pay for, obviously, but when I get inside that modern yet classy and gorgeous interior with those comfortable brown leather seats with wood trim, I forget all about it. And having driven a Chrysler 300C (Hemi engine) prior, I haven't noticed that big a difference in fuel economy. Then again, I'm not going to beat up a car I paid good money for.
The way things are going atleast it's an investment, once Mercedes goes all electric or dumps the v8s $$$

I am all for the new E63S, but after BMW released the 0-60 times for the new M8, I expect the refresh of the 63S to match it or better (0-60) in 3.0 (officially, so it can perhaps to it faster but 3.0 is my expectation now).

Yeah... the engine son! The engines are the same, I expect merc to up the performance to compete. And yes, not the same, but at the same time- it stands to reason that the 8 series (if you want to say it competes with the s coupe), would also not be faster than the E63 due to size, weight, etc... and the old 6 never competed against the s coupe or CL.
I was always a BMW guy 2018 e63s was the my first Benz. Best car I've ever owned.

Mr. Harris you are wrong. The super sedan segment was not created by BMW with the M5 in the eighties. It was created much earlier by Mercedes Benz. By the ends of 1967 Daimler introduced the legendary 350 SEL 6.3 and claimed it was the fastest production sedan in the world. Jay Leno remembers.
The 300 SEL may have been the first “super saloon”, but the E28 M5 literally reinvented that segment. It set the template and benchmark for sport saloons that even to this day, has not been matched. The fast executive car would not be where it is today without the E28

I even went for a 2019 e63s myself but just recently my cousin bought the facelift M5 Competition and I’m seriously lusting after it even though it would cost about 40% more every year in finance costs over the facelift e63s. I like the E63 S more, the inside is way nicer and cleaner than the M5 competition, and you can customize it way more than the M5, and it is more comfortable.

Chris Harris made an important statement do we need 600HP super saloons? Answer is no but they makes it anyway in case if you want them. Both the M5 and the E63 are monsters and very similar in performance it only boils down to your personal preferance. Either ways you cant go wrong.
