Joe that bird feeder unit is really working well as a cooking unit lol. Your potatoes on top did what my pastry did on my moose stew it sank, but in the end it tasted great like the Sheppard pie that's the main thing. Yeah I needed to thicken my stew before I added the pastry. Keep them coming I'd go for a plate if I was there lol

Lol thanks. Yeah I saw your pastry get sunk alittle. I’m sure it was tasty though! I know after I let that Shepards pie sit about 45 mins longer it thickened up alot better. That bird perch is working great lol.

Well, in My Humble Opinion, You Did A Great Cook. May not have come out how you wanted it. BUT, when the fork scooped up food, into your mouth, the magic shown through with a big, Oh Man That's Good. My Mom is British, a Naturalized American & my Dad's from Montana. She would make Shepards Pie and Cottage Pie. Shepherds Pie was made with a pie crust top and bottom. Cottage Pie was made with mashed potato topping. I've just bought and seasoned a #10 deep Lodge, and Your receive for Shepherds Pie will be my first. Thanks, and thanks for your honesty. One of the few things I've never made in my Dutch Ovens. or in the house oven for that matter. When I try a new recipe I do charcoal first time.. a bit more controllable.. Coals are tough sometimes.. You did great. I'd share a plate anytime !!!.

I’ll definitely be trying this one again. Someone commented and I kinda figured it out, but I left to much liquid in it and caused the potato’s to flip on it. Was still really good though lol.

Next time you might want to try less water and more corn starch as your thickener. With less water your potatoes will stay on top of the meat mixture, It all tastes good anyway.
