The moon scene is actually pretty impressive even considering the moon's gravity. Anyone could have picked up the boulder because of the lower gravity, but shaggy demonstrates that he can also toss the boulder with high acceleration, despite the boulders mass being the same as if it were on earth.

People have suspected that Shaggy is an intense stoner. From my research, this appears to be true, and my 15 years in human chemistry leads me to conclude that were Shaggy not regularly intoxicated, he could level buildings in the mild rage that follows one stubbing their toe. This part is theoretical, but it's my opinion that Shaggy smokes for the safety of everyone else.

It's easier because their weight (the force) is lower, the boulder's weight was equivalent to over 3 tons of mass in Earth's gravity. 3 tons.

@@TheByQQ You are correct that the weight (as in, the force) is lower, since the acceleration of gravity is lower for moon. But the mass is still the same. Newtons second law still holds, so you need the same amount of force to give it a certain acceleration, or the same amount of force applied across the same time frame to give it a certain speed. I have obviously never tried throwing objects on moon, so it is plausible (and likely) that the lowered weight of the rock makes it less difficult to throw it, but you still can't just expect to grab a super heavy rock and throw it like a tennis ball. Not even in space with zero gravity! Just in the way you can't just punch a giant block of ice on a frozen lake and expect it to immediately reach high speeds, even though the effect of gravitation is marginal in that case as well.

So while you might be able to push a huge boulder away, it would still require a great deal of energy and momentum on your part to move the boulder even by a little, simply because of the very high mass of the boulder.

The moon scene is actually pretty impressive even considering the moon's gravity. Anyone could have picked up the boulder because of the lower gravity, but shaggy demonstrates that he can also toss the boulder with high acceleration, despite the boulders mass being the same as if it were on earth.

He's also seen to occasionally overtake scooby during chase scenes, implying that he may be going at ~35-40mph. This would mean that he could reliably overtake a car in a suburban neighbourhood.

Newtons second law still holds, so you need the same amount of force to give it a certain acceleration, or the same amount of force applied across the same time frame to give it a certain speed. I have obviously never tried throwing objects on moon, so it is plausible (and likely) that the lowered weight of the rock makes it less difficult to throw it, but you still can't just expect to grab a super heavy rock and throw it like a tennis ball. Not even in space with zero gravity! Just in the way you can't just punch a giant block of ice on a frozen lake and expect it to immediately reach high speeds, even though the effect of gravitation is marginal in that case as well.
