You may have to treat the wrought iron with a rust coating for being in the environment. Be sure to do it early so the rust does not get a start.
I agree. Cast iron will rust easily. A quick coat of cleat sealer will make all the difference.
OMG that ewing machine table is a NECCHI. My grandmother gave me her NECCHI sewing machine that my grandfather bought for her when she came to USA. I treasure it and still use it. They are the best sewing machines...
Your Italian accent sounds so authentic! Good job, Julie :) You are going to love using your transformed patio!
Wow! Where do you get all your hutzpah and energy from? You have 4 children? Lovely! How old are they? You are lucky you haven't got the type of husband who tells you what and how to do everything but one that allows you the freedom and space to blossom your creativities!.
I love your newly decorated terrace with young olive trees! Are there any strong low maintenance colorful potted plants you can leave alone in direct sun and rain (since you don't live there every day to water and care for them)?
Lol it doesn’t.
I love everything you have done in your “Little Italian House”…it is soooo charming, and I am sure you and your family are going to enjoy making many memories there
Thank you so much!!! xx Julie
The skyline is amazing as well. It's very therapeutic to watch the clouds in the daytime in spring and summer 🌤️ 😊
Looks lovely - where did you get the patio furniture from and what type of wood are they made from? You work so hard and the end results are wonderful😃
Goodness me! I love everything you do. I know you’re in a truly privileged position and this enables you to do extraordinary things and go to extraordinary places. And that’s a bonus. But really I watch you for you and your great personality and your energy. And simply being true to yourself. 👍☕️🙏
This episode was so exciting. Happy Mother's day tomorrow. Patio looks great
Mother’s Day in England was a few weeks ago.
@@darlenechandler2403 ...then Happy English Mother's Day to you & from all us Americans Happy American Mother's Day as well to Julie & other American-born moms. Probably May Day is associated with Mother's Day in Europe I would guess because the traditional crowning of "The Queen of May" (the Virgin Mary in Catholic countries) is usually the Sunday closest to Mayday (May 1st).
@@darlenechandler2403 of course she knows this; however, Julie is American, and more than likely observes both due to her American family.
The sitting room looks so polished now with the pictures on the walls and the light. That brass coat/ hat stand was a great find as well. One last thing, your Italian sounds so fluent. I’m so impressed.❤
I love that brass coat stand too!
Just watched! Looks so lovely. You could reuse those poles, one in each corner, and hang some string lights!! It already looks magical!
I so look forward to “my” periodic trips to Italy … I appreciate that you invite me ❤
Can't believe you put the furniture together all by yourself. I could never do it. It must give you a big feeling of accomplishment. Good for you.
Yes, you can… everything is marked you follow the simple directions… it’s as simple as it gets
I'm a huge church bell fan. The reverberation of the sounds shake you to your core in a great way. No messing around or delay or wasted time. You get right to your projects. I admire that so much. Can not wait to see the clothes you purchased at the town market. If most of your background colors in the building and road colors are so natural and neutral, you need to add the pop pop wow so not to disappear as you enjoy your Americano in the village center. So cute and comfy outfits. If I may a suggestion to add to your beautiful outside decor, purchase a very sturdy umbrella that extends out over your furniture. You can then use it on those extremely hot days to keep you cool and out of the hot sun. They usually wind up and down. When they are down, they take up little space. The one other idea would be to add a outdoor rug like sisal or some artificial woven floor covering under the furniture that you put together. It will also cool off and cut down on the heat reflection and be easier for your feet to handle if you choose to go barefoot up there. OK, one other thing, is a waterproof rubbermaid type closet or lift top storage for your cushions that you can easily put them away and take them out. You could store your candles, outside drinking (non-glass) glasses, napkins, accoutrements, etc. and not have to worry about having to go up and downstairs as much. OK, I just thought of one more thing is a very tiny alcohol fire feature for the table top. They can be as small or as large as you want and you can add that add'l ambiance.without firewood and there is little to no smoke involved to bother the neighbors. Sorry to throw all these thoughts out there but I can see you really enjoying that space for many months of the year.
Wow Maureen, every one of your suggestions is exactly what I was thinking and will really finish off the space for maximum comfort and use. I was also thinking of some kind of privacy screen on the side facing the neighbor who's windows are very close and they might even appreciate not having people looking down into their home. I thought she could use the poles left from the laundry line to put up some screening. Anyway, I hope she takes your advice.
A lot of great ideas for Julie to consider ❤❤❤
thank you! these are all GREAT ideas and I will def. consider some of them. Thank you so much!
I love this! You're a woman after mine own heart. I love finding & recycling old bits & pieces for an eclectic, inviting look
I can tell this has been a joy for you to accomplish. I know it has been a lot of hard work but the pay off is absolutely fabulous. Enjoy Mother's Day tomorrow. I'm hoping your Family has some surprises for you.
I'm just like you. When I went back home to Germany I loved hearing the bells of the churches. Especially on Sunday mornings when the bells all over would ring them. I just saw the church steeple. So your able to hear them closer. 13:33 l have the same white shirt with stripes!!! Unbelievable!!
🥰🥰
Love the terrace transformation. I would move a few of the metal poles onto the adjacent rail and string lights. You can still do the rail extensions for hanging the laundry...love all the antiques and artwork too
Great idea!!!
Your terrace and sitting area really came together so well. I love all your treasure finds. 😊
Well Julie, that was worth all the hard work you had to do! Your terrace looks fabulous and so inviting 😍 I love those olive trees. Good idea about the laundry.
If no one has suggested this yet, I would cover the soil in the platers with a layer of gravel or decorative stones to prevent the soil from splashing during a heavy downpour.
This is what I’m tuning in for: a little escape to Italy. What a lovely project to daydream about! ❤
Sometimes one can get great satisfaction from doing something all by yourself. Great job Julie
Julie, great job on finishing your beautiful and comfortable looking terrace! Wishing you many happy hours on your terrace!!!
The table base is called a treadle and it works like the peddles on a bike to power the sewing machine.
I love your Italian house. What a splendid job you've done!
Despite the fact that you are an aristocrat, you never let that get to your head! You are so down to earth, very relatable, very real! I just love your sweet humble personality and how motivated you are to tackle so much in your Italian and English homes. Bravo sweet lady!!
THANK YOU SO MUCH!
What BS - she’s built her channel on being better than others. I need to vomit 🤢
It's the reason she is my favorite. I love her down to earth personality and she works so hard for such beauty. She really cares about history.
You might consider two umbrellas or a sail cloth for the outdoor space to provide some shade. I also agree with previous comment, terra cotta pot dry out fast so some sort of irrigation system to keep your new trees moist so they don't dry out and die. Lost lost my olive tree a few months ago.
You are a character! Which is a compliment ❤ your enthusiasm is wonderful!
If you don't have someone coming in to water when you are not there, consider a drip system of some sort. Love all of your house.
I love the patio is look sou beautiful , and I love the antique sewing machines base with marble top is a gorgeous . Thank you to share you patio makeover🥰
Transformed! Excellent Italian already 👏 Look into ways to keep your pots moist while you're away, there are some good DIY ideas out there.
Everything is turning out so beautifully
Your not so loud but new softer Italian voice is beautiful. Played the video just listening to assure myself it was you. I love Your Little Italian House Renovation!
Amazing transformation. Thank you for letting us in to see your homes.
Beautiful, you need to add a green plant on the coffee table with a couple of accessories. Great job. speaking with your neighbour.
The house is getting so beautiful, cozy and perfect home. The terrace would be a wonderful space to be during the early hours in the morning and at the end of the day ir during the night. Enjoy and be happy.
Awwwww... keep the cement planter without dirt and make it a birdbath (maybe with a stick and stones so smaller birds don't drown). 🐦
So beautiful!! Just a thought to add some feet to the bottom of the pots to get them off the tiles a bit and allow for drainage. Really really gorgeous terrace !!!
I love watching your renovations in your Italian house. I love the blue sofa. Your style is very encouraging. Felicity Jacobs, Cape Town, South Africa
You could use the poles where you have your laundry line to string patio lights to give a festive ambiance (if you have an external electric socket).
The only thing missing is books,, that are for reading. You and your guest can sit in the Living Room, on your terrace, at the kitchen table or snuggle in bed with a good book.
i like the clock! It gives us a real idea of long it takes.
You did a wonderful job on the terrace. Sitting room is beautiful.
Love the terrace. definitely a spot for a gathering.
Oh I can't wait for this, I've been dying to see the potential of that terrace!!!
Love the terrace and especially that great base for your side table with a beautiful piece of marble. I also have this small cafe style table and chairs. I move it around depending on where the sun is, so light to carry. Love your art finds, also purchased some great art bargains in various shops in London Town. I get very excited about my finds at antique markets and charity shops, however, other family members do not feel quite the same. It's nice to discover someone else has this passion.
Thanks so much 😊

I forgot about your Italian show! This is really great, and what a trooper you are!❤
Great job! Terrace came out awesome! The blue Sofa on the wall is too small a scale. Longer would be better or a big chair with a large/tall back may work (don't worry about the heating box being covered), it'll make the room more easy on the eyes and give you more indoor seating for when you have company (and it's not nice enough to sit outside on your beautiful terrace). You go Julie! It's looking great! And VERY impressive you did that all that in 72 hours!
It’s a beautiful terrace “curtains for privacy’ an shade for the hot days would be nice❤❤
Your whole Italian home and life is dreamy - a great getaway place to recharge your batteries -!
Your doing some great work. Would love nothing better than decorating that patio terrace. Enjoy your time and that square
The sitting room looks beautiful! I love the color of your couch.
Just a though/idea. If they have them in Italy, but a large storage container to store your cushions in. They can be painted and used as tables also. That way your not dragging the cushions in and out depends on the weather.
Very nice. You should leave the laundry poles and string cafe lights from them. You could paint them
That sight of the backdrop is stunning🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽
Terrace looks great! Wonderful job.
Wow great job with speaking italian. Terrace and sitting room looks beautiful.
I love your brass coat stand and your sewing machine marble table! Actually I love every addition to your house. It’s shaping up so nicely. Filled with antiques but modern too! You have come so far and I love how easy it is for you to take us with you❤️
Love the terrace. Very Sophia Loren or GIna Lollabrida or Monica Bellucci or Julie Montague. Very photogenic. Great setting for an art installation - maybe something like lovely fabrics fluttering in the breeze?
I've been waiting for the terrace update and you've done a beautiful job! when you got excited speaking Italian with the neighbor, who just wanted to say hello to you, it was a great moment, I understand what it means and you deserve it! continue to infect us with your positivity and energy ❤
I love, love, love the way you decorated your Italian Villa and the updates you made. So light and airy, beautiful... 🙂
Just wonderful! Only thing I’d want to add would be some kind of bit of shade/umbrella
The terrace is beautiful. So inviting. Great job.
It looks great! It kinda looked like a painting at the end when you were sitting outside. The clouds, everything in the background was so picturesque. You're very blessed 🥰❤️
Very lucky to be able to do this!
It´s coming toggether beautifully!!!! Congrats!!
Your hard work on improving and decorating your house is so admirable. The areas come put so nice, its very inspiring . Looking forward to seeing more videos 🥰
Hi JULIE, HAPPY MOTHERS DAY😊❤❤❤YOU WILL BE SPOILED TODAY IN ITALY... CANT wait to watch this now . Great cornation.. Love church bells😊❤ Amazing...bells😮❤yea.. Chio..watching this start....chio hon
It would be nice to have a canopy and a grill or bar area, a little portable heater for cooler evenings
An smaller armoire would be good in the sitting room corner to add height to the room & much needed storage.
Perfect and I love that your still so excited to use your Italian and excited to have this beautiful bell ringing place!
Your little Italian house is looking very cozy and inviting. Love what you've done with the terrace!! Your Italian sounds great 👍 👌.
Julie, Looks fabulous!!! Just love the terrace.
Love the terrace it will be so Lucius when the olive trees have grown a little - deff put some bark or pebbles on the top - sewing machine is just the thing for that space we have a Jones one as its our surname 😅 deff get a collection of coffee table browsing books for visitors - i have a 3 storey house its a killer carrying heavy items for sure - thanks for sharing ❤
When you are on the patio... i see your neighbors house is badly molding above the window... that house is taking in water...stucco cant last long with that water damage.... * your house looks great!*
Spettacolare ❤ enjoy the espresso and your beautiful home. Brava Julie, sei grande!
Happy Mother's Day!
Love everything here Julie! It would be great to have a patio umbrella that swivels, they have them with wifi and lighting. Sometimes a little privacy and shade would be great until the olive trees are mature! Great job!
Great idea!
Your terrace looks beautiful I especially love the old sewing machine stand and marble. The neighbors laundry idea is really cool! Your living room is really cozy! I love your pictures and coat stand. It’s fun to go to looking at antique stores or outdoor markets. Absolutely beautiful!
Julie I really love how you made over your patio. You made it look so warm and inviting. I think that it is going to be your family's favorite hangout spot. Enjoy!
Perfect outfit for you! Looks great.
The terrace looks fantastic! A great transformation! The sitting room is solely! The artwork is perfect!
I have been following your progress on your little Italian house and it looks amazing! I'm exhausted just watching you! I'm sure you will be spending many hours enjoying that lovely terrace. I love your "can do" attitude!
🥰
remember to have them LINSEED or synthetic OILED TREATED by autumn and best move them indoor or covered with a tarp, the humidity and cold in the winter will ruin even the best teak if untreated - PERSONAL experience, my grandpa’s house is nearby….
Love what you did! It looks like a perfect place to relax! We had to put 2 end tables together, simple but elegant in design. The 30 min construction each actually took 4 & 4 1/2 hours each! We ditched their little tool & used my girlie (pink set) stubby ones! It's beautiful what you accomplished so fast!
The terrace looks lovely, great job 😊
I love what you have done with the patio. I think its a place that would be so comfortable to spend time. Your husband must be so proud of the job you have done.
So amazing ❤. Thank you 😊
Oooooo! The Vicountess speaks Italian so nicely and with such a cute accent! Impressive! The patio so comfy and inviting! Ask your neighbors about plants that will take care of themselves? Ta Da! Ciao! 🥰🥰🥰 PS: How will you get all that big furniture inside when you leave?
I'm so happy for you! I smiled all through your video. Maybe leave a pole or 2 and get some type of climbing plant, or use them to put a canopy for some cover during the long hot days of summer!
Yes, decided to keep the poles. Maybe to use as fun lights to hang from.
It's all so beautiful and you had some great finds!
You are an absolute whirlwind, you said you were shattered and then proceed to spend 6 hours putting together terrace furniture?????? I don't know were you get the energy, I was thinking that one day you will be ale to go to Italy and chill but I have begun to realize chill is NOT in your vocabulary, love, love, love you
Wow! You did an amazing job picking out the decor for your Patio. It's so inviting! I love it!
Love the way the terrace turned out!! I can see why you love it. Maybe consider a faux plant wall (no maintenance!!) section to cover the view of the building that looks like rotting black mess? I have used the plant panels to cover bent cattle panel fencing to make a plant tunnel on our front walk. I have to actually tell people that it is fake!! I wish I could attach a picture!
Great idea!
I have throughly enjoyed watching the transformations of your little Italy house! Well done! ❤️
*Italian.
Such a Brilliant job! 😊 Terrace is perfect 😍
the Terrace turned out lovely! The sitting room is so cozy. You’re doing a wonderful job!
So nice to have the terrace done for this time of year. Looks lovely, nice and simple with special touches. The first time you sat and had your coffee at the little table must have been such a treat. Now you get to do it all the time. Enjoy!
Love your energy and can-do attitude!
It all looks fabulous. Proud of all your hard work. It’s soooo worth it!
Absolutely fabulous!! So excited to see all the upcoming enhancements- especially the gift for Luke!! You have wonderful style and sooo much enthusiasm and endurance!!!
A pergola with a vine would look cool
