Hi all! Today, I'm sharing some beautiful patio decorating ideas! We were in desperate need of a patio refresh for Spring, so we spent the weekend cleaning up and styling our small outdoor patio space!
Over the last three years, my outdoor patio area has gotten quite dirty and needed some love. So, I took the opportunity to clean it up, purge some old stuff, and get rid of weeds that had grown due to all the recent rain in California. I also treated myself to some new plants, like the creeping Myrtle and Spanish lavender, which not only look amazing but also help bring bees to the garden. Speaking of which, I also got a new hummingbird feeder as my previous one was destroyed by ants.
I also decided to put my new power washer to the test by totally cleaning out my patio area, furniture, and chairs. I bought it on Amazon for roughly $100 and used it to clean everything in my garden, from the outdoor furniture to the rug. It was amazing how well it worked - everything looks as good as new now!
I'm excited to just sit back on the patio and watch all those beautiful hummingbirds flying around! My birthday weekend was a successful one filled with so many projects, and I'm super happy with the results!

I always spend the week of Mother’s Day gardening, potting, and cleaning the porch and deck. I also try to get in a color/haircut too!

Trash cans keep disapearing in my neighborhood. You can't imagine how much that interferes with life. But I am right there with you on getting rid of the clutter and eye sores. Loved your lavender/pot combos. Gorgeous. color pallet also inspiring.

My husband was able to touch up stain our deck and front porch. Brought out the patio furniture and got it placed. Looking forward to warmer spring days and planting foyers. Hoping to get the vegetable garden started soon.

Aw, thank you for the kind words. Spring will be here before we know it! I am dreaming of sunny days in the garden as well. (As I look outside to gloomy skies, wind, pouring rain, and huge puddles 😩😄 )
In Ct. I have done a lot of yard clean up between rainy days. I have a little more cleaning of the yard to do. After that I want to check to see if any edging is needed, then I can clean up the patio of things that need to be put away, and then I can take old plants out of 3 large planters that were given to me free and replant. After that start working on vegetable garden and doing seeds for flower beds that steady hold perrenials . I had already cleaned my 6 ft diameter fish pond.

I used to have issues with ants on my hummingbird feeder and I read somewhere to rub some Vick vapo rub on the pole (I did a spot on bottom and top of the “pole” ) so I did that last year and I didn’t see one ant 🤞🏻. Watching this I need to start on my patio 😬 happy belated Birthday ❤

Loved this video the vibe is amazing but a fiends of mine is a zoologist and specializes in hummingbirds and others small species of birds and she says to not boil the sugar and water mixture as it dilutes it and the humming birds will need to drink more of it to get what they need from it. Hope this helps :)

It looks beautiful! I think the prices on plants are outrageous now though. It's hard for me to spend $20 on a plant, unless it is a perennial ❤ my one splurge is always 2 huge Boston Ferns I hang on the porch and I try to catch those on sale! 😊
I know, the prices on things just keep getting higher and higher! 😩 I definitley find it worth it if I can enjoy them in our space at home. Its cheaper than therapy! 😂😀
@ValerieAguiar Do you transplant your Lavender into the landscape at the end of the season? I've started using perennials in containers if I can..that way they come back the next year. Like the miniature roses, Hosta, Elephant Ear bulbs, tulips...just whatever. It's way cheaper! 😊🩷 I just thought after I wrote this...Lavender will come back next season in the pots, if you can keep it living, lol
At my old house, I had hundreds of hostas and quite a few ferns. I was on a limited budget so I would just dig some up, pot them and put them on the deck. I also took old wooden shutters. Without hammering anything, I just put them vertical, folded them at 90° angles and put a big tile on top to make a table.

BEAUTIFUL! 🌻Does the Spanish lavender grow as a bush if planted in a bed? Or does it stay that size? Also, do you remember what your gravel is called? lol I mean the name of the colors? THANK YOU
In the containers I think they stay pretty contained to a somewhat smaller size. They'd probably spread out a bit in a bed but I they still keep that rounded bush shape. I believe we have "Salt & Pepper River Rock". I hope that helps! The lavender is starting to bring the bees in it's wonderful!
You can get a hummingbird feeder moat where the ants can’t get to it. Amazon has them. Happy belated birthday 🎉

I'm also in Southern Cal, what do you do when it rains after you have done all that cleaning? Do you have covers to put over your furniture? I saw it's supposed to be really hot this weekend and then rain again next week!🤦♀️
Usually I'll try to look at the weather and make sure most of the rain is done, but it happens every once in a while. Luckily, we didn't get any rain up here after cleaning so I've been good! 💕

It dried and seemingly died but I haven’t pulled out the roots, thinking it’s gonna die out and come back next year. Does that happen with yours too? I mean yours is still alive but does it die and come back? Lol

I had problems with ants getting in my hummingbird feeders too, I found that rubbing vaseline at the hanger will stop them. 😊
