Marvel is the most successful film franchise in history. Every single one of its movies have become hits - bringing in $22 billion worldwide. Competing franchises have yet to even come close to beating that number, including Star Wars, Harry Potter, and James Bond.
However, Marvel’s wasn’t always recognized as the greatest. In fact, the company was once seen as embarrassing and even shunned and casted out by many.
Things didn’t start to change until an assistant - who fetched coffees and swept floors for $8 a week - came up with the idea of creating new and unlikely superheroes. They weren’t perfect, good-looking and athletic like traditional superheroes. Instead, they were flawed and had problems and weaknesses like regular people.
When the assistant pitched one of his most imperfect superhero ideas to his boss, he was told it was the worst idea ever. Convinced his boss was wrong, the assistant went behind his back and secretly released a comic to debut his new and unlikely superhero. That superhero is now voted the most popular in the world.
This is the story of how an assistant turned Marvel from a company seen as a joke to a multi-billion-dollar empire.

watching this video.... im hoping one day they make autobiography stan lee movie sort of thing... so weird... they still not making it yet...
One day in Los Angeles, I went to get my car washed. Sitting next to me was this old man and I instantly knew who it was, Stan Lee. What surprised me was that nobody else there knew him. I was like a giddy kid as we sat there and talked comics and he was excited about the first Spider Man movie coming out soon. When his car came around, I noticed it was an old black Mercedes with a lot of wear and tear. I later found out that Stan was going through law suits and financial hardship at that time and yet, he was humble and took the time to chat with me. I'll always cherish that memory with Stan at the carwash. R.I.P Stan Lee

This is so inspiring. Stan Lee is a model for believing in what’s in you and moving forward with your idea even if no one believes in you.
An old saying that remains legacy forever.
It’s funny how roughly 80 years ago, it was comic books that were “bad” for children. Now, it’s video games and smartphones lol

I had the honor to meet Stan Lee in 1989 and shake his hand. He was an extremely warm and friendly Man.
Stan lived his life to the fullest, never gave up on his dreams.
And that 16 year old kid went on to become Marvels greatest hero of all time. Love you Stan Lee for making my childhood happy and exciting. Rest in peace Mr Marvel.

Stan Lee was always a genuine guy he even showed respect for dc success. He really gave lot of kids great stories and opened our imaginations. I prefer marvel stories set in the real world with heroes that have flaws
I mean he did mock dc a lot but it was friendly mocking
For awhile, back in the early 2000s, Stan Lee did write for DC Comics.
He has written for dc before.

Don't forget the co creators. Kirby was huge when creating things for marvel and DC.
None of the Stan lee / Marvel accomplishments would have happened without Jack ... Good call !
Kirby is a bigger man than Stan but less credited
He was one of the greatest story tellers of all time. I remember watching Marvel power hour as a kid and he would come on to personally introduce every episode and get you all jazzed up for it.
@19:10 the concept art for Spiderman was Leonardo diCaprio. This was after Titanic, and diCaprio became a huge success. He turned it down and recommended his friend, Tobey Maguire.
Thank you, Stan Lee.. For bringing much joy & wonders to my life. A true Genius in his field.
Yeah a true genius at stealing credit from Jack Kirby
Stan Lee truly had a rich full life and It was really sad to hear that he had passed away. Though in a way I feel he’ll be with us all in spirit…especially in the wonderful comic book characters he helped create.

R.I.P bless Stan for bringing amazing original characters to our lives when we needed it most

Remember, Jack Kirby and Steve Ditko were as instrumental. Kirby even co-created their first success, Captain America.
Very true, Without Joe Simon & Jack Kirby's Captain America, Marvel would never have taken off like it did back in the 1940's.

If there is truly a Multiverse....somewhere Stan is still alive and doing what he loves most.
Legends never die they live in the hearts of fans forever
I can't imagine how satisfied he must have felt when Sony's Spiderman, Fox's X-men, and ultimately Marvel Studios came to life! It must have been so satisfying and paid off after all his life creating these characters from his life experiences and societal issues, which is so relatable and emotionally resonant with people. Which is why Marvel succeeds in its films, definitely no offence to DC even though Superman is my favourite character, but is also because of Smallville, which is also relatable and emotionally resonant like Stan's characters. Mr Lee has lived a tough life but still continued creating such fun and awesome characters over the years! Continue to Rest in Peace Mr Stan Lee!
I'm not the biggest Marvel fan aside from the X-Men and a few Hulk stories but I have nothing but the utmost respect for this man
Amazing video and thank god for Stan Lee for not giving up Also Jack kirby does not get enough credit he made the heros come to life. So thank you to both we will be forever greatful
Stan Lee was a legend I was a big fan of him R.I.P you did a great job while you were alive Stan Lee
Stan is the MAN! But lets not forget about Mr. Steve Ditko his artwork has been the blueprint for the artwork Marvel has been succesful to this day
I always commended the ongoing feud between DC and Marvel, they always seemed to inspire each other. Usually though, that just meant copying the others design but never did I realize Marvel was on the brink of collapse. I'm glad they found their stride at this point. I'm now curious as to what DC will do next.
this makes my respect for stan lee grow much more than ever. R.I.P Stan Lee

Iron Man was the first superhero film that made me interested in searching up about the behind the scenes and made Robert Downey Jr. into one of my favourite actors. To this day, Iron man is still my favourite superhero and Robert Downey Jr. my favourite actor.
