That rear emblem is the first thing coming off lol
💯 % agree
Well, have your $60,000 plus ready then if you want to say that. The early buyers would pay an arm and a leg for this car.
No kidding that’s about stupid
Ugh! More chrome to hide/remove...
I hope its just there so we know its a 4runner just as a sneak peek and not finished product
$20K mark-ups, here we come!
Haven't seen that on many Tacomas around here.
Only if stupid people are willing to pay to get it. If people stopped biying marked up vehicles, they'd stop, but they're not going to so as a result they'll keep marking them up.
that’s why you buy through toyota……they don’t allow fluff fees from the stealerships
@@Jackmerius_Tacktheretrix Like they say, "You can't fix stupid..."
Can you buy direct from Toyota?
I'm 5 4Runners deep, Generations 3,4&5... I love my roll down back glass... Hope it carries over... Although its a Japanese vehicle, (which is good) the roll down back glass is very American... Old Jeeps had it & the station wagons some of us grew up with had them as well.
Gosh I miss those
I don't like the placement of the 4runner letters. it just seems odd imo.
I hate the new badge and placement.
I agree...it's too refined. It's not the 4Runner's prowess of being a rugged, everyday vehicle that's appreciated for its relative simplicity that just works well..
& why are they still potentially using chrome-ish badging on anything other than Limited trims?
@@momoGuavajelly they will likely black them out for the trd pro and trd off road trims
@@CACressida blame the new sequoia for starting that trend. i would hate it more if the roll down rear window gets removed like the new sequoia did
Finally the 4Runner is going back to roots with that inline 4
I had the 1987 Toyota 4Runner 22RE! and it was a blast🤗
You guys killed me with your talk of only the tailgate showing.
😂😂😂
Dealerships salivating
I wondered how fast you guys would jump on this. I was so excited when I saw their post.
There has never been an SR 4Runner the lowest has been SR5.
hope the screen will be built into the interior like the Land Cruiser
A brand new 1st gen 4Runner, if it was possible. ....
How’d you get that heart?
@@jameshumphrey3425 ....it's in the smiley face section as an option, one among many.
@@bosse641 hm, must be an android thing
@@jameshumphrey3425 ...I'm on a laptop, windows 11.
@@jameshumphrey3425 No, is Windows...
Is it possible they will drop trd pro or off road versions for 2025 since they don't want it to compete with 55k land cruiser?
Andre and Nathan, The first generation 4Runner would fit inside the new one. We are still hoping Toyota has a compact 4x4 in their North American product pipeline 🤞🤞
I'm not holding my breath thanks to efficiency regulations :/
You got the Rav4 TRD Off Road 😂🤣
@@Wrangler59 We're talking smaller. Like the Gen-1 or Gen-2 RAV4.
@@kenhoward3512 Need a 4 Runner that can hold two dog crates with rear seats folded flat. Size of dog crates is for a smooth collie and also hold my gear. Nead that flat floor. Currently have a 2012 GC and the floor is flat with skidplates etc.
There has been a lot of credible rumours about the Land Cruiser FJ, I'm just worried if it will come stateside if at all.
Nice 👏👏
Thank you for the update. I often can be critical with many of the speculative videos you put out, but this was well done. Although it is your channel, a 45 minute speculative video will always get skipped by me and I'm sure many others. As for the 4 Runner, Toyota (like many others) will continue on their warpath against engine displacement and add turbos (and complexity) to small engines on heavy vehicles and in 5-8 years we will see the negative effects of this, particularly just beyond their warranty period. From what I am seeing across the board, the only true benefit that anyone is experiencing is faster acceleration. Fuel economy is marginally better, which could arguably be a result of a newer transmission with more gears, which means millions of dollars wasted for minimal gains. The negative impacts of the complexity/smaller turbo engines will impact their resale value in 10 years and we could possibly see prices on previous gen Tacoma's go the way of the FJ40.
Also your pricing outlook is off - the 4runner slots above the Highlander with respect to price. Rav4, Highlander, 4Runner, Land Cruiser, etc....
I always thought the manual was dead and I had to find a unicorn third gen. But… maybe? Is it possible??? I will be first in line for a manual 6th gen!!
Like the new color as it looks similar to hydro blue. Yes it needs a roll down window
Will the 4Runner still be made in Japan ? I would assume the Mexico plant is at capacity building Tacomas. Can you find out when you meet with Toyota next month. Aloha
From what I've heard yes, it will still be made in the Tahara plant.
@FRMN8R_T4R , Would that be in Japan?????
I'm going to ny auto show tomorrow. This is great news
One guys looks like he is trying to convince the other guy what he is trying to convince
That “4Runner” emblem on the tailgate looks soooo tacky.
Might take it off when I get one LOL
Immediately getting debadged
Yeah what’s that about?
The exact first thing that came to mind.
4 R U N N E R
Will there be a 7 seater version
The fact they used that blue colour tells me it will be hybrid or fully electric
Toyota said they're staying away from fully electric vehicles for now
What are we seeing as far as durability out of the new 4 cylinder turbo In the new Toyota Tacoma / 4Runner . I’m not quite sold on it yet.
The GX550 press photos had the same tag.
88 v6 silver, man I miss that. I'd love to see a redo of gen1 with a removable top!
It's basically going to be a suv version of Tacoma, just like the Sequoia is to the Tundra. If there's a Trailhunter 4runner, then the 4runner TRD Pro could be a Bronco Raptor competitor.
You are right
Pretty much.
Hahaha a bronco badlands maybe Toyota does not a have a raptor like vehicle it would be cool tho 4 runner baja
There is no comparison between a Ford and a Toyota. ALL Ford products are absolute garbage with planned obsolescence and recalls galore built into each and every vehicle. Some of the (C)Raptor variants look kind of cool, but at the end of the day they are still a Ford rubbish heap with a few aftermarket upgrades.
Lol the trdpro cant compete with a braptor
They will definitely go with the modern classic design just like the landcruiser, I also have a feeling they gonna bring back the tailgate. A hatch door with tailgate feature.
TFL and Company, I could use some real world 4runner advice. My fam is considering nabbing one of these final 5th gens. Narrowed it down to the Offroad Premium, Offroad Premium with KDSS, or the TRDPro. Resale value is meaningful, though we do keep vehicles for the long term. Mostly on-road and light trail performance prioritized. No major offroading or modification intended at this time (perhaps mods in future), but we like to have serious get-out-of-a-jam capability just in case. How would you rate these three options?
I am curious on expected tow rating. I hope it matches or exceeds Land Cruiser.
I’m looking for the photo of the thumbnail in the video.
Oh a 4runner with removable top would sell like 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Still made in Japan?
All but confirmed that it will be made at the Tahara plant as always
I saw a gx550 video in Japan and it showed the 4R there still of course - so I’m hoping it continues.
Seems unlikely
They aren’t going to change where they make the cash cow lol
No it's the same as the poorly made tundra
cant wait to see what toyota has to offer on this one
I think the 4runner badge is too low.
Maybe its blocked, but I dont see any exhaust pipes.
What a way for Toyota to hold people off on buying a new vehicle this summer. Now I gotta wait until they fully unveil this car to decided which vehicle to buy
If you are one of those who line up to pay huge markup, sure.
Don't wait. Buy it while it still has a 4.0 liter. Cannot stress that enough. Smaller engines have their place in the world, but if you tow or are working the engine hard on a regular basis, you don't want smaller displacement.
Me too. Was going to go GX or another Defender. If this vehicle is compelling and I can save 10s of thousands over the other two, it may be worth it.
@@jwlafferty I really like the GX but it’s out of my budget. I’ll wait for a lease return in a few years. Hopefully the 4Runner will be price appropriately. But my gut feeling it’s gonna be around the same or slightly more than Tacoma as starting price.
I'll say this for the new 4Runner: it already has more interesting color choices than the GX550. Here's hoping it gets a good green and red, unlike the new Land Cruiser.
I'd give up the rolling rear window if they'd give me the trusty old V-6, normally aspirated. Better yet, the V8 of the early 2000s.
Waiting for next generation HILUX and FORTUNER in South Africa
6 speed manual with optional 4.7 V8. Hey, it’s okay to dream
Greetings from southern Ontario Canada I have never owned a 4runner or any sport utility vehicle as I currently live in an apartment complex with height restrictions in the under ground garage 😮
I live in a Semi-Detached house in Ottawa and I can only fit a car in my garage. Then I have to get out of my car like how the Duke boys got out of the General Lee. LOL
Let's us all pray that Toyota doesn't drag the release out with the teaser pics as long as the Tacoma! That was painful!
23 4Runner was the 40th anniversary and had a special trim package for that year! 25 would be 42 years of the 4Runner!
Chrome are they high?
I was waiting on you all to make this video.😊😊
That picture makes sense.
Yes, the manual transmission is going to be available in the new 4RUNNER
Looking good so far, just don’t fork up the front! Yeah, that badge in the back is coming off.
There is nothing exciting about what they are doing to the 4runner except for potentially offering a 6-speed manual.
Well that’s just, like, your opinion, man.
@@samesparza2149brontoqb1 is a real reactionary
Toyota and excitement are not two words I’d put together. Not in this age of designing vehicles based solely on fuel economy as the first challenge.
I waiting for the FJ cruiser 😅
I think it will be priced lower, but all the ones you find at dealers will be as high as the Landcruiser.
Patience grasshopper. There's no need to be first. I can wait for prices to come down OR I'll be happy to pony up for a one or two year old used vehicle. Although it might look like there are an infinite number of idiots willing to shell out $20k above MSRP I think that number is limited even if the market isn't saturated quite yet. Hell, I'm glad I can't get a Landcruiser 1958 right now, because I have two more years tuition for the child and I really want one. LOL In the meantime I [we] can all save up and avoid a big car loan down the road. Weird, right?
Then just buy the Land Cruiser if they are equal price By doing so you will lower the demand and thus people ice for me I thank you for your generosity in advance😅
@@lexwaldez I can wait, I just paid off my 2019 Ranger, so I am not ready for a new payment.
Dealerships markups will make pricing differences between the new LC and 4Runner irrelevant.
The new Tacoma power train might be a good starting point to drop in the new 4Runner. Then they should have the option of a more powerful ICE in the 4Runner as well. Not necessarily making it a race car,but stronger for steep hills with loads and slightly higher speed limits on the interstate.
the MAJOR difference between the landcruiser and the 4runner will be the full time AWD in the LC. the new 4runner should see better MPG with the same engine over the LC.
When are they going to release?😊
Hopefully it’ll be made in Japan🤞
NOPE.
LC is not "based on a Tacoma" lol. They just share a platform Look forward to seeing you guys torture test one😊
I went to a car show recently and the rep for Toyota said that the new generation 4Runner will have the roll down back window. He said it with absolute certainty. Hope he’s right!
The Toyota Engineer on KZhead said that its going away, specifically because exhaust gets sucked back into the cabin. Toyota is going to move away from the design.
@@stevenhumphreyjr.6399 that would suck if they actually did it the only cool things about those
I actually think thats the very reason the Badging/Lettering is so far down the rear end, its opening from the very bottom, and the badging draws your eye to the edge of the opening hatch. You'll notice that hatch goes in rather than maintaining a decent profile out, which tells us the window isnt rolling down into that slimmer profile. @@BillyBob-im7og
@@stevenhumphreyjr.6399 Toyota just revealed the rear roll down window for the new gen 4Runner!
@@funkykkdog oh snap!
I think Toyota will continue offering three rows of seating in the 4Runner given that the Land Cruiser 250 is strictly a five-seater.
You are right .
I hope you are right. Hope they offer it in the TRD Offroad model
Still a shame that a V-6 option won’t be coming I’m guessing. Toyota 4 cylinders are OK, but all of the Lexus / Toyota 4’s I’ve driven recently are pretty crude sounding and not very refined.
I’m really interested to see if they make a Trailhunter trim on the 4Runner.
Will it have door rattles?
Silly me rushed into replacing my ‘07 in 2018 because I was expecting the replacement model back then and wanted to avoid any new tech. Obviously I could have waited awhile longer lol.
But will it be manufactured in Japan?
A topless 4Runner would be a dream come true
Who didn’t think it was going to have the styling of the LC/GX?
Still body on frame! Nice!
First Gen 4runner is peak. So beautiful
Hopefully its a throwback to the first Gen.
I thought BMW and MB were pushing it with 7 and 8 SUVs respectively, and here comes Toyota with 9 (and that's not counting the hybrids separate nor includes the upcoming Crown SUV).
I really hope it’s a total upgrade but keeps the same ruggedness and reliably that they are known for and everybody has to have it. Then maybe the price will come down on the current ones and I can get a good deal!
It would be nice if they make PHEV version of it.
They had the opportunity to make it look so much cooler. I wish it looked more aggressive
🤷♂ what if anything did we learn here? It has a spare tire, says 4 Runner still has blue paint and a hitch. Breaking news?
It's called tease ,..DUH
Lesson, we don’t comment without comprehension.
It will also be hyburdized and overpriced
A 2wd base model with come in at MRSP of $46k. Upper trim levels will be $56-60k easily and that's MSRP 🤔
I'm just here to read comments/bitching about turbo 4 cylinder engines.
Yeah it's awful. WTF is toyota thinking?
Lol I think the jury is still out on the new turbo engines. But if you look at Toyota engines from the past, they seem to figure out their shit pretty quickly.
We talking about ecoboost reliability?
@@lotus956 I'm talking about Toyota. I don't think it is fair to use Ford's history of unreliability with the ecoboost and assume Toyota will have the same issues.
282 cubic inch = 4621.15 cc, which means we are getting V8 4Runner.🤤 Do not wake me up 😴
I think it will be more like the Lexus GX not the land cruiser
Damn if the 24 model is 65k man 2025 will be 80k
Going to be a crowded showroom and a somewhat mind boggling shopping experience. The Land Cruiser is just a bit too close to the new 4Runner, especially when you get into the TRD off road and Pro models. Then all the various engine and drivetrain options. It’s an amazing time to into 4WD, especially if you like Toyota. I owned the original model with a manual transmission, not for very long but it left me fond memories. It would be really sweet if Toyota offered a manual with the new platform. Great content as usual guys! 👍
I LOVE TOYOTA, I LOVE AC/DC!
282’nd day of this year
Maybe
If you take a look at the upcoming next gen Fortuner in Japan I'm guessing it will be very similar in functional design as the 6th gen 4 Runner. It would make business sense for Toyota that the 6th gen 4 Runner and the next gen Fortuner that we don't get in the U.S. will have a lot in common.
Can't wait for the new gen to drop so I can scoop up a current gen for a discount once a flood of them hit the market as trade-ins. Same thing happened with the tacoma. My 3rd gen taco had been holding steady in value until the 4th gen finally dropped and now the value of my truck has finally gone down.
Plenty of current owners will be doing the upgrade. Don't worry over 1.2 million of them sold, you won't miss your chance to get one anytime soon.
Oh good. It looks like you still have to get on all fours to plug your trailer in. 🤔🤣
LUS 282 = LAUNCH UNIT START (DATE) OCTOBER 9TH (292) day of the year!
Will it be made in Japan?
Yes
Imagine its still a 5th gen with new bumpers and emblems 😂
Toyota already did a 40th anniversary 4Runner. I hope they put Toyota back on the black tailgate handle like it’s been for generations.
The 2024 4Runner LTD has 3 rows as an option
Spare tire in the dirt says most of what you need to know. Tires belong on the back
The starting price will be $42-45K
Woah, woah, hol' up! Go back and talk more about that CD for 1-year at 12% interest, please. 2:19
The Land Cruiser has Full Time 4 Wheel Drive and the 4-Runner is Part Time 4 Wheel Drive.
Did they forget the tow hooks like they did the tundra? 😂😂
The wind noise in Bronco and wrangler is terrible... please keep the same chassis for 4runner...
The European ones full runners or manual transmission one. My mom and dad was in Scotland and they were driving for a rental manual transmission with the diesel four.
I hope for a tailgate rather than a rear hatch ...
Hopefully you can easily fit more than a 32" tire underneath unlike the current gen so you don't have to buy a $2000 tire carrier just to run a measly 33"+ and have a spare.
You have to pay to play🤷♂️🤣
I ended up not playing. Juice isnt worth the squeeze on something like a 4Runner to me. Gotta spend $15k to get the thing to be on par with a stock Rubicon or Bronco Sasquatch only to have Toyota tell you they are not covering anything under warranty because its modded.
I was hoping (predicting) the new 4Runner would be more modifiable like a Wrangler and Bronco, but that doesn't look to be the case. I think it would sell well as I see Jeeps everywhere. I hesitate to modify as you do because of the price and then tinker with such a reliable design.
@@555atUI modify my trucks, but if I am spending 50k+ on a 4Runner, then i would rather spend 50k+ on a Jeep or Bronco and start from a better foundation that I may not even need to modify. The 4Runner doesn't do anything appreciably better. It doesnt tow better, it doesn't offroad better, its slower, etc. I've driven a few 5th gen 4Runners, and owned a GX460(same platform) for 4 years, and there is just nothing about that platform that makes me go, "wow, this is awesome." My biggest issue is that I tow a decent size trailer and so the Bronco and Wrangler are a no go for me. The GX460 was able to tow my trailer, but didnt do it well.
@@Jay-me7gw I can appreciate that opinion especially if you modify. As an everyday driver that is reliable and utilitarian Id go for the 4Runner. I also live in the northern midwest so we don't have the plethora of offroading trails like out west. In your case, I totally get it. Where do you offroad?
Nathan is talking crazy about that spare tire placement...
