Pokémon and Mario games referenced each other quite a few times over the years. In this video, we're covering all Pokémon references and cameos in Mario games and vice versa.

Mario and Pokemon go together really well, Mario is the world's most well known video game character and Pokemon is the world's biggest video game related franchise ever, I could imagine how lucky Nintendo is bying having these two money makers.

I actually think you're right about the music in Mario and Wario. If you listen to Cerulean City just before that M&W music you might hear that it sounds a little like a remix between both that town and the route that you mentioned (which you actually have to take right after visiting Cerulean!).

You missed the dub Pokémon Theme being in Donkey Konga (I believe the Japanese version of the game has “Advance Adventure”, there might be others in 2 and 3).

I'm actually a little upset that they missed another reference to Mario vs. Wario. Namely when you talk to Pikachu in Pokémon Yellow (I think when you go fishing) and it wears a bucket on its head.
