Yeah, the way Gen 1 was programmed, you had a 1 in 256 chance for the accuracy check to pretty much roll a zero. Gen 1 speedrunners refer to it as "Gen 1 missing" and it's brutal if it happens at a bad time. Gen 1 is a mess.

Salamence is so rare, that I found a shiny Bagon and still couldn’t find one
Wanna know what's funny ? I didn't know salamence could show up, and the first Bagon I encountered at the beggining of the game summoned one after, like, 10 minutes. My jaw hit the floor... Never knew up until now how rare his appearance is. I probably used every ounces of luck I would ever get from any other Pokémon game 🤣

I managed to find it on my second or third run where I actually took the time to plant berries. Sadly, shortly after, the internal battery died for my copy of Emerald, so it's good that I found Mirage Island before that happened.

The Azurill is a little misleading in that it must be Female to Male, and that starting in gen VI the glitch stopped happening. Confusion used to be 1 in 2 but I think that changed in VII. The Sheer Cold thing was added (had to check wiki for this one) in gen VII. Bullet Seed used to be 1 in 8 (changed in V). I guess you could specify finding Dragonair requires a Super Rod. Odds of Self-Destruct are low, but odds of using an inherently suicidal move is 7x that (thought it was 6x until I saw the SwSh DLC). Mirage Island is 1/65536 per pokemon on your team per day, so technically each day you have up to 3/32768 per full team per day assuming no mon has the same Mirage Island Value. I played a lot in the GBA and DS era.

@@bronsolo6941 In RSE, each day every pokemon you catch or already own has a randomly determined Mirage Island value from 0 to 65535. Each mon is chosen independently, so they may match, but odds are low that they do. The game picks one value that is the correct one to activate Mirage Island and keeps it secret. If the value of any mon on your current team matches the daily Mirage Island value, the island will appear on route 130. The only two ways to know it's there are to either talk to the one old man in SE Pacifidlog or to surf out there yourself.
Also he/she apparently forgot to take into account the probability of feebas actually appearing on the tiles (like, even if you get to a correct tile, other pokemon may appear)

The statistics above show if you were to encounter every shiny Pokémon WITHOUT ever encountering a single non-shiny.

If you were Bagon hunting, you likely had the higher modifiers on for having Bagon call and it being answered.

Sorry to burst your bubble but it's not that rare. It's two independent 1/100 chances which is very different to 1/10,000. 1/10,000 is the compounded chance of both events and in this case is a misleading representation of the odds. If you went for Bagon encounter into turn 1 Salamence call it would technically be a 1/10,000 chance from when you start the initial encounter in the grass. That's pretty arbitrary though.

I don't see how the Pokemon Company can't make good use of the newer hardware and better software with larger capacity of memory to store the entire National Pokedex of pokemon into the game. Even with the 100 or so added each generation, they'd have the memory and engine for it especially if they are going to keep using low quality animations and used their future proofed models from gen 6.

But somehow they can't fit the whole roster and add 100 new pokemon to a system which dumpsters the 3DS? People would have been, for the most part okay with an incomplete pokedex if it meant newer, better models and animations, but that didn't happen.

Yeah both Yveltal and Xerneas had boosted odds compared to most legends. Still unlikely, just not as unlikely as you'd think
Iirc the catch rate of the gen 6 box legends are 45 instead of the usual 3 for legendaries, which is the same as Goomy
Played Ultra moon and I was using up all my pokèballs except from the beast balls cause even I knew it was dumb to try. So the legendary was being stubborn and I was too overleveled to try to attack again, so I decided to burn through my beast balls before quitting and loading my save. I 3rd beast ball I tried *worked* and to this day I have no clue why that worked.
Interesting start to amusing finish. Still, found 2 shinies in Alpha Sapphire before finishing story. Can't complain. Edit: for context, shiny cascoon which I still have as a dustox. The other was electrode. So near yet so far.

1. You don’t need to catch every Pokémon to play Sword and Shield 2. These are just the odds of FINDING every Pokémon in a specific order if they could all appear. This is an impossible scenario that doesn’t matter. 3. Most of the Pokémon aren’t even in Sword and Shield. 4. Only a set group of MANIACS have every shiny. Most people will only have the shinies that they think look nice or the ones they randomly find. I’m assuming this person is interested in getting Sword and Shield but has never played a Pokémon game before. If they are not, don’t r/wooosh me.
@@epicphantom589 Technically you don't have to do it in just sword and shield, you can use every game you want until you get all of them in order, plus you can use some exploits such as RNG manipulation or emerald trainer ID to get them 100%. RNG manipulation in swsh hasn't been found yet but surely one day we'll get it. So yup, it's also easy, just very time consuming.

@@kpounder4908 Not have a capture card so can't prove anything, just trust me Anyway, if you have a pikipek with a nature that boosts spdef ans 252 EVs in sp def at level 100 it can barely survive a power gem, the other moves are not a problem, just use double team to boost your evasion +6 praying he doesn't use smart strike, recover with roost and start damaging it. Yup, it's very luck based it took some hours.
