I'm a woman who has just turned 70, but I've loved David for years and every time I see video of him it stirs my soul... I mean, LOOK at him! A beautiful man then and still today. A fantastic musician, guitarist, singer; basically the whole package. A lovely sensitive soul.
I feel exactly the same way. He is just magnificent.
❤❤❤❤❤so good looking for sure,then and now🥰🥰🥰
I'm 65 year old hetero man and I , too, think he is extremely good looking. His expressions.
Gilmour is awesome. Love this era in his career.
My most favorite album all time . I was 14 years old . I'm now 58 years old . The Good Stuff never disapeares .EVER !!!!!!
1st solo album is such a treasure! Radio never played it so that makes it new and refreshing every single time I listen to it.... one of my favorite albums of all time!
Agreed, t's awesome. Anything David Gilmour does is gold and must be listened to daily.
So agree. There is not 1 song of his that I have e.v.e.r disliked, so when asked what my favorite Dave G. song is...well, all of them. I do especially love "No Way" on this. Not a musical person in the description of terms but it's the guitar chords on this...different.
Late seventies DG, none better.
Actually, I first heard "There's No Way Out of Here" on an "easy listening " radio station while riding in my parents' car. I bought the album the next day.
Wolf Klauschie I heard it on a classic rock station as a kid, and thought I had missed a Pink Floyd track somewhere. I didn’t know Dave had done a solo album, and like you, soon bought it ... on vinyl :).
Amazing to watch David's finger work up close. Effortless! Master of the guitar.
I Love every frick'n thing David Gilmour does. What a body of work.
Gilmour
@@TiberioTrip David wrote most of the music. Roger wrote lyrics. They were a great team and finally performed together again.
and what a body it was!
Yet you can't even spell his name properly!
@@TiberioTrip Absolute rubbish. Gilmour and Wright were the heart of PF.
Interesting that David's brother Mark is in this band. Also, forgive the quality of Mihalis , its from a different source this was from VHS tape enjoy ! everyone, please stay safe out there !
also the drummer who is the 2nd drummer from 1980 1981 the wall tour
Nothing to forgive... To actually be able to see close up the fret work of Mihalis is a gift . Love this album since the 80s.
David Gilmour is such an extraordinary musical force on the guitar I just can’t grasp everything he plays...so I watch again and again! Love this and 🙏! You take away the moments that make up my dull day! 😷🤟
HDPinkFloyd GRAZIE HDPinkFloyd sei il numero uno bellissima canzone bella 👌👍
Ich überlege schon die ganze Zeit wer du bist gar nicht so einfach 👀💥😳
Gilmour's first solo album is exceptional. The sensitivity of a genius in songs with a sophisticated guitar work. It should be more recognized.
It’s an amazing album, I listen to it at least once a week these days. I believe that Gilmour deserves more credit in general.
I remember hearing “There’s No Way Out of Here” on the radio. For a while I thought it was a Pink Floyd song I recognized David’s voice and guitar work immediately. And he’s one of the few Englishman that doesn’t lose his English accent when he’s singing. Love the man and his music
What a real find. A gem. A masterpiece. Thank God for David and for Floyd.
🙌🏻
im a senior in high school listening to this all stoned driving down a country road whole life ahead of you
40 years of listening to Floyd, saw several live shows, and movies, even went to Christie's review and today I find out David has a brother who plays guitar. Cool.
Wait, a brother, who, what, where.
@@jeffreybranning5677 That’s his brother, Mark, on rhythm guitar.
...I was 18 then....all my friends were fussing about how god like this Eddie van Halen guy was.....I bought this gem at a hornsby s store in Morris illinois for a few dollars I'd earned baling hay......loved him then....love him more now as I enter my 60s and realize that his music not only entertains me...but taps into that ever present knowledge we all grapple with....that life is fleeting...and death is inevitable.......I dont get that from listening to May as well jump.
...And I was 14...it would take me a couple more years to become a woman ,who admires....is in awe of...and is eternally thankful for such superb musicianship...( that I love to freestyle dance to ). Thought provoking lyrics....terrific concerts...the list goes on and on... And David...you were sexy as hell in '78....and still have it goin' on in 2020...with a gorgeous wife to reiterate that simple fact... I am a happier woman because of the tunes Pink Floyd has consistently cranked out over the last half a century. I never tire of Animals or Wish You Were Here or Echos...and your newer material is par excellence....as well... Merci beaucoup, muchos gracious...jolly good show 'ol chaps... ( the only reason I can say that last bit is ...me Mum's from Norwich 😘). Love you ....ever so much... I am forever in your debt....(and so very happy I wasn't born deaf.)🥰🤪😍
Interesting. I too was 18 in 1978, and in Illinois.
A fellow hay bailer ... fuck yes LOL
Hornsby's..... I bought all my early musical treasures at Hornsby's... Central Illinois.. that's awesome.
I so love David Gilmour.. so handsome and talented.. that voice, that guitar, that smile and twinkling eyes.. 🎁😍😚 And... Long live The Pink Floyd 💎💎💎💎💎
To a woman who just turned 70 ... God bless .. David Gilmuor is the best 😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊❤
This album (on cassette tape) was a highlight on camping many years ago in the woods in Allegany, NY. Up all night then watching the sun come up. Sitting around a fire thinking of life. Golden days of mother nature and all her glory with David Gilmour.
I also hunted and camped down in Allegany county for years .Always had to have Dave's first solo C.D. with us. Still listen to it ,to this day...42 years later
David.... in my opinion one of the best musicians in the 40+ years he’s been creating!! Just amazing!
What a beauty, you can really see this was recorded during the Animals-Wall era when you look at his guitar playing.
Even Dave's "scraps" became gold. One of the discarded songs from this album became "Comfortably Numb".
Is this a dream or is it real life?...well, it's a dream come true to see this....stunning in it's brilliance !....superb posting....one of the very best......ever !...... where has this beauty been hiding for so long?
David Gilmour's first solo album is great . It's very relaxing to listen to..it soothes one's soul.
yes, much needed in these times ...thank you
I go this far back with David and Pink Floyd. I have both David’s David Gilmour and About Face albums on vinyl. Thanks HDPinkFloyd for loading this so the young DG and PF fans can see and hear this.💕
I do as well, now they're both in my Spotify album collection (along with On An Island, and every Floyd album available.) Althogh I never had the chance to see PF perform as a whole, I was very fortunate to see him perform on three separate occasions during his About Face tour in 1984. Incredible concerts that included his good friend and neighbor, Mick Ralphs from Bad Company, and Pino Palladino on bass.
His set list for the concerts included songs from his first two solo albums and a few Floyd classics as well.
Same!
Not to pull the black card, but pulling the black card . I have loved pinkfloyd over 40 years along with Gary numan, black sabbath, iron butterfly, acdc ,zeppelin and many more. Hope the cops never pull me over and shot me.
Such an uncannily soaring musical touch David has. Really a compelling, singular voice in the sea of voices. Always spot on. Thanks for the upload!
No Way is one of my favorite songs
This is a true jem for any Gilmour fans. Thank you for posting!!
I'm 63 and have enjoyed so much since Dark Side of the Moon. Favorite talent of all time.
Perfection. I adore this magical man with all my heart.
This needs to be released on dvd !!
This '78 first solo album is excellent, very cool to see this footage, never knew any existed.
I remember hearing "there's no way out of here" live on TV in New Zealand around 78 or 79, and I was struck by the song and it's delivery from the awesome D.Gilmour instantly: this confirmed my thought that it was Gilmour's influence on the floyd that I found most appealing ever since "echoes".
Wild that it's live and not lip-synched. It's amazing to have different takes of these songs after all these years!
This is fantastic!!! I hope this becomes available on DVD soon. David Gilmour is the "BEST."
Thank you very much for sharing this video..
Thank you! Great music, and great first solo album!
Just outstanding... DG is one of a kind! Reliving the best part of your adolescence is priceless, I was 19 at Penn St. when this was released, what memories. Thanks HD!
Amazing! thank you for uploading

From Québec, Canada Beautiful! Thank you! Stay safe !
I have all his solo stuff on vinyl and the first album is still my favorite. Would have been nice to see him pull some of these out when he did the Last Pompei show, but oh well... Thanks for posting this.
Thankyou so much! Never thought Id see No way out of here live!
This is fantastic... Thanks for uploading.🙏 🌟👍
Um...this is quite the gem you have here. I'm not sure where you found it but I'm more than grateful you posted it!

Awww!!!🎶❤😻 Buenísimo!!✨👏👏👏✨ Thank you so much🙏🍀
I still have this album in rotation. this performance is epic. loved seeing that gorgeous Tele again, nice solo...
What a great album. Never heard this before. Just came across this video. Would love to know the name of this album. Would have to look high and low to find it!!!
@@naomimitchell2716 the album is called "David Gilmour". It's his first so album.
I shall search at local stores if they have any for sale or search the web. I'll find it!!!
Saw him on the About Face tour at the Hammersmith Odeon in London in about 1982. He played this plus songs from both solo albums made at that point, as well as Comfortably Numb and Run Like Hell. Also his second guitar player was Mick Ralph from Bad Company so they did Feel Like Making Love. I will never forget it!!
yes, i had live t the Hammersmith Odeon, unfortunately it was taken down, great concert thank you
@@HDPinkFloyd I ran away from school to see it when I was 16. Drank 4 cans of Special Brew and got a fucking huge bollocking on return. Would do it again in a heartbeat. Because all you touch and all you see, is all your life will ever be...
I saw him at Hammersmith Odeon but it had to be 1984 - just as / after 'About Face' was released. He did all of this 1st solo album stuff and also had Roy Harper come on... Wikipedia says he did 3 nights at the Hammersmith Odeon and that Roy Harper performed "Short and Sweet" together on those nights - gives the date as April 1984 which tallies with my memory and the timing of the release of 'About Face'. It was a brilliant gig and he was on fire maybe because he had something to prove outside of Pink Floyd.
@@JustinColman-kz5fl In those days 4 cans of Special Brew was THE most I ever drank of that stuff. Once only - and I remember quad skating to the offie after 2 to buy more. The rest is - of course - a complete blur :-D
Nice post. Still love this album after all these long years.
this is great. rare find. thanks!!
Thanks HD...I can see every chord.
Thank you for this treasure!!!!!!
Saw David in July ‘84 at the garden state arts center. 12 rows back, not even sold out. Great show. Always was and will be my favorite guitar player
Merci beaucoup pour le partage 👌😊
Thank you so much for uploading this. Have always had the vinyl album, but never got to see the tour. Nice to see him play the Black Strat and the Workmate in this too. And the #001 Strat in the background! I didn't know he took it on tour too.
It's just one promo-concert without audience. No tour. So the best studio- equipment can be on stage. Perfect!
thanks for sharing...
David Gilmour🎸, is a majestic human and musician, of special magnificence. All his creations where his composition and influences are involved, are art at its best. Long live and prosper the great Jon David Gilmour !
Very good, and new.! Thenks, is something more, from what we now and see up to now... 😎👍 from this incredible group.!!!!
Another Gem to play and listen too on my hi-fidelity system,Thanks for putting this on you tube.

Never knew these exist! Thank you!
I bought this LP and was properly blown away. This was Music, and on a scale that i only could begin to comprehend...what a solid album...Short and Sweet...
MIHALIS! So beautiful.
I got to meet Gilmour when he came to Philly that year, touring to support this album. He actually let a local DJ lure him out to a local shopping mall to meet fans and sign autographs! Dave did spend half a minute gazing at a photo I showed him of my 20+ bootlegs, but said he wasn’t allowed to sign bootlegs. he DID sign my 12 string guitar, though! (Whatever happened to that thing?)
yes!!! love this...thank you. stay in the pink. blessings
