  • Alan, like Ram Dass, Eckhart Tolle, Sadhguru and Mojii are a medicine for the suffering of the mind, none of them were or are perfect, some have had terrible loss, some lost everything, some died with addiction but what they all KNOW is that ultimately none of the good/bad/ugly matters, our consciousness will always triumph over any conceptual pain or problems. A hug to my fellow travellers ❤❤❤

I have a similar issue in my gut whatever you want to call it I'm 32 I've drank since I was 15 and I've been sober you know like 6 years off alcohol back and forth on the other things regardless just a human being with all the other crap that other human beings have I have a little more Dark Side than some and when I stumbled upon Alan Watts I was healed in some sense from my Western philosophy of spirituality and during my journey I found him profoundly useful and continuing to learn about him and his life I was honestly pretty bummed out to find that he died drunk basically lost and floating in the opposite of everything that he preached one thing that I try to remember above all else we are not perfect we are not humans and those that cannot do teach that doesn't mean he could not do that just means he wasn't doing what he should have and the people that should have been around him weren't my advice is just take positivity for what it is I keep watching these positive things or listening to all these educational things about mental health and spiritual wealth and you know what in every comment section we're all arguing and bickering with each other and it's so hilarious because if there is an afterlife they would be cracking up about how we're arguing with each other over philosophy spirituality peace and love

    • @@stewartlancaster6155 In the context of a KZhead comment praising an audio engineer for a remastered video, "props" is a slang term expressing approval, respect, or admiration for someone's work or achievements. It is short for "proper respect" or "proper recognition." When someone says, "props to the audio engineer," they are essentially giving credit and showing their appreciation for the audio engineer's skilled work in enhancing the sound quality of the remastered video. Other similar expressions include: - "Kudos to the audio engineer" - "Hats off to the audio engineer" - "Credit to the audio engineer" These phrases all convey a sense of praise and acknowledgment for a job well done.

    • It's all a matter of fiction. It starts with emotion, Thought and instinct, and then we make a decision based on those and then take an action, Then we observe the results of our action through the lens of our own perspective. And that leads to our beliefs. So if all that is true, the only reason that we can't do anything that it is possible to do. It's because we have been taught that we can't. We've been Indoctrinated by religion, Public schooling and Television. If you believe your own thoughts, you can manifest absolutely anything if you set aside. That end up that indoctrination. That tells you all the wrong things and is meant only to control you. Then you can become what you are., A god.

    @seddik6522@seddik65225 ай бұрын
    • Hahaha! This is exactly the question. Asking it in the first place will never get you there. 'No mind' is abandoning this question all together. Learning that it is not something you DO but something you let go of, the exact opposite of action. I'm sorry if this is confusing, but I hope this points you in the right decision. When you get there, you will say 'aha!' and you will realize that it's not an idea that can be put into words, only hinted at. And you will get there. Let go, and be peaceful. There is nothing to be done - you have it already :)

    • I have proof! This is actually a speech Alan Watts gave but redone with AI. Alan actually said all of this, I own a set with the original lecture on it. But this specifically is a version remade with an AI version of his voice. There are no recordings of Alan Watts with this high of quality (unfortunately) because of the limitations of his time. Perhaps that’s the motivation behind recreating this recording with an AI voice. Look up the words of this lecture, and you should find a transcript of an original recording posted on the website dedicated to Alan Watts’ recorded lectures.

  • Alan Watts, known for his eloquent speeches, passed away at the age of 58, struggling with alcoholism. This highlights a concerning tendency in Western culture to equate eloquence and intellectualism with enlightenment, often overlooking the human complexities behind public figures.

    @gunnarmuhlmann@gunnarmuhlmann5 ай бұрын
    • I don’t think he ever claimed to be enlightened. Nor did he regard himself as a preacher or anybody of authority for that matter. ‘An entertainer’ was how he defined himself. Any complexities in his character seem trivial compared to the content of his recordings which for me have always shown a learned individual passing on the philosophy he’s educated himself on.

  • To the comments from 1 day at a time below what makes you think that Alan Walsh died drunk and lost and wandering yes he like to drink but that doesn't mean that he didn't live his life the way that he talked about living is life that's the paradox so I think you misunderstand when you stand that he stands and lost this just incorrect he didn't drink he like did like to drink and he did for a long time but he know means

  • Rather large error in transcription: Watts says "You can't CONCEIVE reality." The transcript reads "You can't PERCEIVE reality." (And "perceive" is misspelled, too; but the larger error is the misstatement of what he's saying.)
