    • Jesus spoke to his people primarily to free them from the oppressive aspects of their shared religion. Organized religions tend to reinforce the authoritative nature of a priesthood. Is it any wonder that the initial Bible as it was written and assembled with the old testament that was based on the same yoke of control that Jesus spoke against, was bound to the simple pure message of the good news of liberation that he was crucified for. No wonder believers are confused and broken. If one focused on the simple message of the good news, there would be much less guilt and confusion.

    • @playlistofsongs Theres a third option... Many things appear to exist but they are all different manifestations of one thing. My hair exists, and my bones exist, and my eyes exist, but they are all manifestations of the exact same genetic code. They are different, but i am one thing. Isnt that also possible? Couldnt two people describe a tree, and give completely different descriptions? Isnt the same true of God?All religious texts were written by men. They werent written by God.

    • We all can enjoy knowing God and Jesus are one and inside each and everyone of us. John 10:30 Jesus says I and my Father are one. John 10 Is an allegory for your higher consciousness and being a Sheppard of your thoughts so that you can act on a more good and just manner. Even the slightest bad thought will cause destruction in your mind. Luke 17:20,21 Jesus says The kingdom of God does not come with observation Stop going places to find God for the Kingdom of God is within each and everyone of us already. God isn’t a god of the dead He/She is God of the living. Put that experience in your lives today. Be a good human and you will be more Godly everyday.

Yet, every Christian should ensure that ONENESS with God, is what is required of everyone. Jesus himself says this is what they would know; that ALL life is one - John 14:20.

Seraphim taught at the same school as Watts and eventually saw Watts for what he was, an alcoholic and Charlatan. Rose also converted to Russian Orthodoxy after becoming disillusioned with Zen/Taoism and has by far more profound teachings than Watts. Jump scare: Rose was an orthodox Christian monk for a good part of his life after converting.

  • Writing books were not cheap 2000 years ago. Each page was painstakingly processed sheep skin. Literate persons capable of writing were also not that common. And this is just to start. So it seams to me that these gospels were written to order. Also the fact that there were so many of these supports that a number of capable people were contracted to write them and few were picked. This sounds to me that the order came from Rome. The thing with books is that they can say something that doesn’t resemble the reality at all or even worse something that conveniently skews the truth the way the author or even worse the sponsor wants.

    @juncospollack6281@juncospollack62819 ай бұрын
    • As Alan Watts said there is no evidence of this being true. The idea of Jesus in the east seems to have come from the turn of the 20th century. I would add that it is also unnecessary to posit it. To do so would be to imply that wisdom could only be found in these places and everywhere else is somehow inferior. Certainly there is a cultural bigotry to this effect that is present in many Indians that is no less repugnant than that of American Protestants. Jesus was the son of a carpenter. In those days especially one stayed home and learned the trade. His ministry beginning at age 30 would have been shocking enough and to get people like James and John to abandon their father and his fishing nets would probably have been scandalous and a threat to the livelihood of the family. The whole point of these philosophies, wherever they spring up in the world, is that we find the Kingdom of Heaven within. This is why I find the notion of Jesus having to travel to India for wisdom as missing the point of the universality of the Spirit, however attractive or well-meaning it might be.

  • There is a big misconception about Christianity that it is a set of rules or simply an example of how to live. Its much more. Christ has done what we could not do, and done it perfectly so that God's justice could pass over us and land on Jesus deeming us saved from punishment of which we deserve (we have done evil in the etes of God) Christianity is about realizing there is no matching the righteousness of God in ourselves, it is taking trust off of self and putting it fully on Jesus after death. Every other belief puts trust on self to conplete good works in order to be deemed right with God, source, the gods ect. Our works arent enough. Jesus' works are.

    • I would say that if you study nature and life itself, there is a significant degree of order in the world around us.... One of the laws of thermodynamics is that spontaneous processes increase the entropy or disorder of the universe. But instead, we see an amazing degree of order and everything that naturally occurs, that is everything except where humans have messed things up. Through the years as I have expanded my worldview, I have found it increasingly at odds with the very rigid dogmatic programming of my youth. I had the thought earlier this year one day, that people tend to relate to their concept of God through the religious traditions that were easily accessible to them during their formative years. Is hard for me to believe That only one viewpoint is the correct one. While everyone else is wrong. I encounter people like this frequently in North Carolina.

    • The idea is to ultimately place your faith in the Christ, and that must be found within one's self. Placing faith in the historical personage of Jesus is a mere stepping stone. A lot of Christians stop short in this, and end up worshipping yet another figure (idol) that resides apart from themselves. There is no transformation in this, just another loop in histories repeating of itself. Another false religion given another name, another face, and another set of rules to follow.

The manual for how to choose to be made righteous and then wise was sealed by Daniel, and is unsealed at the appointed time. The seal starts with ignoring to work out psalm 97:11 to misunderstand what Christ is and how He abides in men.

  • In the old testament there was a law given to the Israelites that if they conquered a city and saw women they wanted then they could take them home, give them a month to mourn. After the month he could have sex with her and if he decided not to keep her, he must let her go. In those times it was unfathomable. God started the women's rights movement. In those days women were taken as slaves or killed on a whim and God said no, you will give her time to mourn, if you choose to have sex with her then she will have the same rights as your wives and if you don't want her you can't kill or sell her, you will let her leave with her freedom. That is profound to me. If God chose to show this level of kindness to the enemies of His people, who are we to judge anyone. This story repeats from the beginning of the bible to the very end. Love your enemy, love your neighbors, love yourself, love the truth, be known by your love and not your words, love others as God has loved you. God is not a mystery to us, love is. We can't master it yet. So many jews and christians praying for israel as if it's God himself but they show no love towards any Palestinians. Even if they can recite the entire bible, they still don't know love

    • The other thing about that was that she was to cut her hair, wear torn clothing, and pare her nails. Adding to that the weeping and mourning for her old life, she would have been unattractive to her wannabe husband. How clever to install in statue rules for understanding the human male's tendency to be seduced by what he sees with his eyes and compassion for the woman to be accepted for all of her, not just the dressed up seductive bit. It was quite common for women to dress up during war and make themselves look beautiful. A strategy of war. So, as you said, this kind of compassion and respect for women was not the norm back then. It still isn't today. When one starts to drill down into this stuff, it becomes clear we still have a long way to go. DV

    • @@manlyadvice1789 i understand what you mean but it's not an accurate representation of God or the bible. When you read the bible as a book it becomes clear that it's a story of evolution. Humans are constantly changing in the journey, they kept getting a little better as the story progresses. Humanity as a whole was pretty messed up. I'm not going to list examples because I'm probably already on a list. The story isn't done yet but look how far we've come? We're a completely different species compared to 6000 years ago. We are still getting better. The most brutal things you encounter in the bible were always done or decided by humans. I'm not going to suggest you read the whole book but if you pick any king or city that was destroyed, do some research on who they were, who they worshipped and how. Most of the time you'll want to kill it with fire yourself when realizing how society used to be. It's a progressing story though, from start to now

    • Interesting point and I agree somewhat. I want to point out that in the west, where Christianity is largely disappearing, it has not been replaced by nothing. People largely defer to whichever experts/ideologies/politicians that appeals most to them personally. This is exactly the problem as you also point out. I think the point he is making about rotting our brains is less about the lack of a guide, but rather the importance of digesting the texts properly. A world full of people following the bible as if it were an infallible guide would have people selling their daughters, stoning people wearing blend fabrics, and more. That seems to me to be very much akin to what is happening today. No love, just judgement and punishment. Enjoy your weekend 🙂
