I was given a copy of the Gita about 20 years ago, in a very dark place in my life. Have had a translation close to me ever since. Such a beautiful gift the Lord has given to mankind.
Me too my friend I only found the Gita 5 years ago but will alongside the Upanishads doesn't leave from bedside table. Fundamenta opening a change of my entire perspective on Reality.

@44:00 I must agree. As someone who was in and out of California prison I am no stranger to violence. The harder thing is to walk away from it with the wisdom of the actual act. So to say how I felt after as well as when I flipped the scenario and was the assaulted. I refrain now unless it is to stop another from harming another. Great audio clip.

54:27 please understand, Alan Watts was a lover and great interpreter of these and other Great Esoteric Teachings. He devoted his life to the study and broadcasting of them, for which I am grateful. Thank you. However he was not a devotee of living that Prior Reality of which he speaks. His ego never died! 😊

45:36 therefore, as is understood in the phrase, ‘before enlightenment I cooked rice, after enlightenment I cooked rice’. It’s purely down to disposition, not action. An action can be seen to be pure or impure, but the disposition could be either egoic or Divine. Who is to know my disposition right now? I only know! Lol! 😀

Anyone can experience the now, anytime anywhere. In fact everyone can experience only the now, but it just happens that the vast majority of people are unconscious of it and focus too much on their thoughts.

Are there any talks with ram dass and Allan watts together ???
Maybe YOU can give me an idea as to why Ram Dass appeared in my dream the night he passed? He was observing me with curiosity, and then when I pulled myself away from the dream event itself, I talked with him for a bit and then woke up. I don't know what we talked about, I just knew it was Ram Dass, and I had to look him up to confirm what I suspected. I read an article about his passing and was sad I had to go about meeting him in the ethereal realm.
Did you listen to a lot of Ram Dass talk just before his passing ?

For those who do better with raw mystical philosophy, spoken directly, rather than narrativized parables & myths (rich in wisdom as they may be)- especially those who find themselves walking the Path of Knowledge (in Sanskrit, Jnana Marga)- I recommend the Upanishads & the Brahma Sutras, as perhaps the purest distillations of Vedantic teachings. For some, the accessibility of a story with characters to relate to & metaphors to grapple with is just what they need to grasp something, but personally I’m the type who prefers to just cut to the chase & have the underlying philosophy expressed as directly & straight-forwardly as possible (I was always a nonfiction reader growing up), & that’s exactly what these texts offer- the philosophy of nondualism, panentheism, & something like objective idealism (basically), the worldview of Advaita Vedanta, spelled out in profound detail, in no uncertain terms, for the reader to receive as they will. The Upanishads I would say are certainly the more poetically written- they strike a lovely balance between being informative & astonishingly beautiful, while the Brahma Sutras can be dry if you aren’t used to reading philosophy… But they’re both wonderful texts. And, outside the particular tradition of Advaita Vedanta, for the broad-minded syncretic mystic/esotericist, the Asclepius [of Hermeticism] as well as the Corpus Hermeticum, & the Zohar [of Kabbalah], also offer a tremendous amount in the way of developing a foundation of esoteric wisdom & insight. There is much to be gained from studying even far outside the bounds of these mystical traditions (study others, like the Neo-Platonists, the Taoists, study dialecticians, from Heraclitus to Hegel to Marx, study Spinoza, study David Bohm, Albert Einstein, Klee Irwin, study Noam Chomsky, Yanis Varoufakis- the less a person blinds themselves by ignoring that which falls outside their most narrow specialization/field of primary interest, the better the background knowledge they will have from which to draw sound conclusions). So study science, social science (history & sociology, politics & [heterodox] economics, crucially- not only philosophy), literature, the arts- secular philosophy as well as mystical philosophy… Simply study whatever you study from a critical, rationally grounded perspective (not as unquestionable doctrine) so you make good judgements about what to accept & adopt, & what to critique & reject, based not on what appeals to your personal biases & preconceptions, but on the timeless & impersonal- dialectical & other logic, reason, & empirical evidence. Only by going through this process constantly, questioning our own assumptions, expanding our horizons, taking no truth-claim for granted on the basis of dogmatism, appeal to authority/nature/any other self-deceptive, fallacious reasoning, will we progress closer & closer to absolute truth (even if at some point we find that it is fundamentally impossible to progress beyond a certain point; that there are fundamentally unknowable, transcendent truths, there is still a vast distance we can move in that direction before such fundamental limitations become a practical issue- & as long as we’re honest with ourselves about that, humble about the limits of our epistemology, I’m quite convinced that everything we need to live a good life & to do right by others, & more, falls within the realm of what is knowable).

Did\Would Ram Das suggest we read the bible in the same way he suggests we read the Bahagavita?
The Bible is much longer and has been manipulated in ways that Gita hasn't. It has been used to harm in ways the Gita hasn't, across the globe. So I think Ram Dass felt that there were better tools to pick up while we heal those wounds modern Christianity (which has all but forgotten the Christ) has caused. The Bible and particularly Christ's teachings, have been misinterpreted for the sake of political control for centuries to the point that most don't even know what Christ actually taught... and for all these and other reasons, for a daily practice, the Bible can feel overwhelming, heavy and confusing... Unless one can separate it completely from the western perspective. Maybe something like the Psalms and Proverbs, by themselves, would be good for daily study. Or even the Nag Hammadi scriptures if one wants to focus on the Christ's teachings, specifically. They aren't technically part of the Bible, but they are contemporary writings that are focused on Christ's life and teachings and though much of the original texts have been lost or too damaged to read, many are intact enough.

@@ViragoRiver I'm going to stick with the heart of the lotus sutra... They can't touch that one, it's simple and easy but hard to find unless you're lucky to meet one who knows the right version. The truth they call god never changes, there are many ways to get to it, but people tend to complicate things as always lol

Excellent video. However I slightly disagree with your view that Mahatma Gandhi was inspired by Bhagavad Gita. Perhaps he would have read it but did not implement Bhagavad Gita in his real life. It was Subhashchandra Bose who not was inspired by the Gita but actually implemented the teachings in his real life. Gandhi made India a weak country showcasing the world that we need to fight injustice despite the fact the colonisers unleashed gross violence, injustice and engaged in massive looting and plundering the country. The Gita never support the view of non violence if someone is continuously doing injustice to you. Gandhi as an idol for India's independence was projected by the British as they do not want the world know that they did not run away due to violent struggle by Bose. Your description about the caste system also needs proper study.

You are also a sinner in need of forgiveness and salvation (Romans 3:23 and 6:23). Your sin separates you from God (Isaiah 59:2). That’s where Jesus the Messiah comes in. He is God in the flesh who emptied Himself to become a man (Philippians 2:5-11). He lived a sinless life, and then was the perfect sacrifice for you sins on the cross, and then 3 days later rose from the dead (1 Corinthians 15:1-4). If you repent of your sins and idolatry, and believe in Messiah Jesus only as your Lord and Savior, you will be saved (John 3:16).
Peter,You are too far in your path to fulfilment of yourself. In life,it is okay to be born a sinner and see God as Divine and an Infallible, that's how how you can have a Model to follow and fall back upon for personal spiritual progress. But further on,you have to do learn and internalise that Divine knowledge and wisdom and realise your own full potential as your innately Divine being. You go through the whole life and still remain a sinner even at the throes of death is a colossal mistake. Let's on wake up, realise who really we are. Upto a point, duality is fine but from there you have reach that Oneness. That's where the beauty of Hinduism lies- it encompasses Dualism to Oneness as long spirituality. All that's narrated are quotations,not real Gospel of self realisation.
@@subbaraomohanram8674 your idea that we are all divine is error. The Bible teaches something so different. Jesus said in order to see the Kingdom of God, you must be born spiritually. This happens through faith in Jesus. This enables you to overcome sin. You must repent of your pantheism.
