Alan Watts - Open Yourself To This Truth

2023 ж. 18 Сәу.
293 389 Рет қаралды

In this video, Alan Watts discusses how we can integrate into our thinking the idea that nothing necessitates or implies everything, delving into conceptual and philosophical interpretations of this concept:
0:00 Just go along with it, dissolve
02:42 Time
04:23 Scared because it is an unknown
05:40 The Mystic
06:33 What is nothing?
13:12 Moksha
17:53 In the middle
22:10 It takes nothing to have something
26:12 The most real state is the state
of nothing
28:03 Consciousness is like a mirror
29:46 The fear of nothingness
32:26 This is the secret to the whole thing
35:20 Unknowing
37:27 Voidness

  • Alan Watts is one of the very few influential speakers that o wish I could’ve sat and listened to in person. What a gem of a human. He brings me such contentment always. But especially when I’m having a hard day. I hope you all are feeling blessed and grateful in every moment possible. Enjoy the ride. ♥️

    • @@watchdiscoverHe was a great man. But what if I told you, that he is indeed an extension of you. That I am. For we are all dreamers. I would have lived the exact same life you lived as you would have lived mine. We are all the same person just living in different times and places. Some of us have achieved a form of enlightenment such as Christ or Buddha, for they are titles which means that they have discovered the oneness that is interconnected amongst us all. The only thing that separates us from, God (our higher self) is in fact the ego, moreover, it is our attachments to the illusion that we are separate from the whole. Yet to get there we must unravel each attachment for the root of evil is the perception that we are not whole, that we are lacking and so we live our life with a purpose, with a quest to discover the truth. This truth is so obvious for those that are enlightened and such a mystery for those that are washed away by the false security many call life. We truly are one, and therefore if one were to be mad At another life form, it is really irrelevant because if and when that other life form becomes you, you would have made the same decisions. It is the oneness that we seek. Yet it seems so elusive, but only to the mindset, science, and understanding of incorrect logic. I wish you much strength did your journey. May you love yourself and overflow your cup, for we have to love ourselves, and to forgive all to be one.

And he certainly underestimated his impact on so many of us if that's all he thought he was. Not that he couldn't be entertaining. Still......

    • @@Mark-bw1wx Yes he notes something similar in one of his other talks (one of my favourites of his, 'you do not exist') - that he knows 'dam well' that the 'Alan Watts' role is more of a show of sorts, should he so choose to play other roles but this one better pays the bills haha. I have more respect for the guy who picks up my garbage. At least he's making an honest living. And psychiatrists with their lobotomy pills and electroshock therapy are even worse. Killers. His words by his own admittance are just sounds, quickly gone, and recorded to echo over and over again, but being newly heard by new ears only once. And it only takes once to be profound. Usually at the cost of your own memory. We need to all be wise to eachother to remind us that we are One of Many Faces.

  • 35 years and I never knew the value of philosophy until this last year. However I have always had a feeling somewhere deep inside my heart and mind that knew we as humans are so much more special then we were led to believe. I have always felt different or that I did not know where or how to fit in. Never knowing or being taught that that was unimportant or how to deal with the emotional aspect of it. I have always been the most optimistic person I know. I started meditating in the last year and reading, so far at 36 books this year. quit a 20 year opiate addiction 2.5 months ago. people like alan watts, neville goddard, manly p hall, jim rohn, john proctor, socrates, plato, lao tzu, Epictetus, zhangzi and many others have been a huge help. We all move through Space-time at the speed of light. When we're young, our speed component of this equation is larger because we move about more quickly and time passes more slowly and when we get old and slow down, the time component gets larger and seems faster.

Hence why I believe that we as humans once we all become awoken then this is when we will all experience what we call heaven and eternity where there will be no death and no time and we will all breath out a sigh of relief and where those who are already awoken will say ahhhhh there we are and they won’t get whiplash on the way to this new paradigm !

I will argue only we INFJs really go to his level, experience *that feeling our* inner being has, palpitations, knowing, its influence on *us*, steers us to be better, serve God, serve humanity, serve our planet.. without INFJs, we would be doomed AF. 💫☯️🙏 -INFJ Heyoka 🃏

Throughout his monologue, he frequently introduces new subjects and strives to interconnect them by the conclusion. This approach, while ambitious, occasionally results in an overwhelming amount of information, diverting attention from the primary focus. Stay on the TOPIC

They did not understand my delemma, they were only searching for themselves the answers there were hoping to find leaving me to understand through these trials and errors that all along it was my responsibility, my effort, my energy that would carry me along and lead me from nothing to something and the furtherence of my being on remembering all that was nothing in the beginning and something toward the end.

    • The only reason you are scared of death, is because you actually believe that you are real, and that you can die. Because you are identified with the Body, you think that when the body dies then you also too die, wishful thinking, how nice that would be to one day drift off into non-existent state of vibrant nothingness, and return to the unmamifested. We must die in this life, so that when death comes, there is no one to find.
