I've wanted to build something like this car for a long time but I just never had the chance. I recently found out that someone I know wanted to put this up for sale. I had to immediately go check it out!

  • I know that yellow traction bars are iconic but paint them flat black and it’ll really help out that sleeper look. You can always add hydroboost for the brakes. Bad ass car man!

    • I agree! I’m looking into getting an in tank pump. Also, the go pro seems to really amplify the pump sound. It’s loud, but not as loud as it sounds in the video!

  • I had a 71 Nova 6cyl car in high school. My friends called it the under cover car. Because it was quite. They really need a power brake booster and front disc brakes when you V-8 swap them. I had a 73 Nova SS with a 4spd also. Disc brakes. I built a 355 for it with big cam and roads lifters. They would click below 2500 rpm's and bleed down. Made a big cam less aggressive at low rpm's. Then pump up at higher rpm's. I blew the 4spd up and put a 350 turbo glide in it with a shift kit and 3500 stall converter. Loved the way the engine hummed with that big converter in it. 😀 Put a B&M ratchet shifter in it. I bent some valves when I blew the 4spd up. A co-worker clean up the head ports a little while I was doing the auto trans swap. Traction bars were welded onto the leaf spring studs. Car ran a 14.10 in drive, the first time I took it to the track. Didn't have a helmet so they said if I run under 14 I'm kicked out. My friends said just shift it at 6500 and run it through if you get kicked out you can hang in the stand with us. Car ran 13.10's all day. They never kicked me out. Buddy let me swap some Holley carb jets he had when he would come to the track. So I got the car down to 12.90's on street tires. Loved that car.

    • @@gordocarbo I will say for sure back in the late 80's. For a kid who just put something together. A lot of my friends would just say Man, that combo works so well. 👍🏾 Just a big camshaft and high stall converter. Stock heads with a little port matching done. 👍🏾 But man my Datsun runs low 12's easily. 2JZ with a turbo. 15 psi on the waste gate. Yes, it's a lighter car but the low 12's impresses me more. Just the turbo, no aftermarket go fast parts in the engine. And it gets 20mpg if I'm not in boost all the time. 🤣😂.

  • It hurts me a little to see no air filter on a street car. Very cool stable of vehicles you have there.

    • Yeah, I don’t think it would fit there? I’ll look into it.

  • Isn't the fuel and oil pressure a bit too low. I think that at 16:19 your fuel pressure should be about 60 PSI and the oil near 40 psi. Your idle seems fine.

    • That was at hot idle. Seems ok to me? Fuel psi is set to 43.5 at idle.

    • @@nowherefastgarage Cool but just FYI, I checked my logs and my fuel pressure stays steady at 57.9 PSI at idle or driving. I still think that yours is a little low. Just look into it. 🤙

  • Always loved those novas, I dig the non assuming look with the spicy engine under the hood !! That being said , that nova doesn’t hold a candle to that Buick in my opinion. All your cars are pretty choice!! Did you let the 442 go ? I don’t remember seeing anything about you selling it

    • I sold the 442 last summer. Believe me, I wish I could keep them all but I don’t have the space.

    • Is idling at 14.7 a problem? My GN idles good around 15.0.
