    • @Elittiger Savage the biggest problem with doing late model cars is getting everything to communicate. You'll need to find someone that can work with can bus. Swapping it is easy, but getting anything in the car to work is another story. Honestly 2010 ss Camaros cost as much as it'd take to swap it. It's not impossible just not worth it

  • One of the biggest issues with swaps is the need to remove VATS (vehicle anti theft system) from the computer. This can now be done using LS droid to pull the stock flash and software like EFILive or HPTuners to remove vats right at home. No more needing to spend $600 on hardware or sending it to some shady ebay guy that takes 6 months to return your computer.

I am a backyard guy working on my car as a hobby on weekends and came across this video, I am gathering as much information as possible on my future project which is converting my Toyota Prius V ( that's done 200,000 so far and still running strong) into regular gasoline gas under $1500 by putting Toyota Yaris or Corolla engine into it some day when the hybrid battery gives up. I prefer gasoline because I take a lot of road trips and fixing a gasoline car is easier than hybrid car if it ever breaks down in a no man's land. Thank you, I subscribed.

    • Just did one on my '68 C10, save yourself some time and money and buy a weld in motor mount kit off Ebay for $50. Raise the engine up 1" and use the stock pan, saves $400 and the sump will not be below the front cross member and the front of the pan will not hit the steering drag link. Slide it back 2" also, never hurts and leaves you more room for accessories. Easy-peezy with the mount kit, just cut the provided plates and weld them to the existing crossmember. The mount has ploy bushings to isolate the engine and makes removal and installation a breeze.

  • For anyone looking at T56s: I think it would be useful to mention that corvette T56s are difficult to work with and that's the reason you generally find them cheaper.. Corvette T56s use a different tailhousing as all of them use torque tubes rather than driveshafts. To convert these particular T56s to use a driveshaft requires a lot of work and money as you have to mess with the internals of the transmission. Generally, you can look up the # on the plate of a T56 to find out what vehicle it came out of, but corvette T56s are easy to tell apart from ones out of other cars such as F-bodies because there is no tail housing (more square in shape, and a shaft sticking out the back with splines) whereas other T56s have a tail housing (more tapered rear, connection for the driveshaft rather than a spline shaft that the torque tube slips onto.)

  • If its from a truck and going in a car: Intake and oil pan/windage tray are almost always a must. Wiring harness engine mounts and headers become the next challenge. Radiator also can be problematic. Ac and ABS might need to be relocated/removed.

No matter what your building use a 4L80 transmission. It’s no more money and is just a better transmission. Especially if you’re going to abuse it even a little bit. And I know everyone is going to do at least a couple burnouts and hard off the line acceleration.

  • Hey Jovani, Thanks for the vids on the LS motors....just a quick question for you. I just picked up a LS1 out of a 2002 Corvette with 125k, it is completely.stock...was wondering what quick upgrades you would do if you were working with this motor? I would like to keep it naturally aspirated. I was thinking a hot cam for sure, but just dont know which one would give me the most power Increase. Was also thinking of changing the rockers and springs. What do you suggest?

    @amrikjaswal76@amrikjaswal764 жыл бұрын
    • Cheap extra power without sacrificing the integrity if this came out of a base Corvette would be a ZO6 cam, cold air intake, and long tube headers. That would take it from the 350 HP to over 400 and you won't have to worry about changing the springs and stuff. And with it being an O2, the intake manifold and everything is exact same between a base and a ZO6 so that doesn't need to be changed.

  • Very good info, thanks for posting! My ‘95 Trooper has developed what I believe to be a rod knock (but I’m probably wrong), and I’ve settled on the idea of doing an engine swap vs buying a new vehicle, as that will be the least expensive option in the immediate timeline (hopefully!). Currently in the process of figuring out which LS engine, tranny and transfer case I’m going to try and find. Also trying to decide if I’m going to do a solid axle swap at the same time...

  • Good video. I swapped the old TBI 305/700r4 out of my '87 K10 in favor of a built 400HP carbureted 350/thm400. A lot of what you said even rang true for my "swap". Mount, bolt trans up, plumb wiring, plumb fuel, double check and done. I enjoyed the specifics you went into for trans and wiring options. Aside from those specifics this can really apply to swapping just about any engine into any vehicle. What's mind boggling, is that most of the people asking about LS swapping... have probably never swapped any engine into any vehicle before so even though this information is SO broad and SO basic it helps understand what the different stages of changing out an engine are; even if its the same engine going back in! Informative video.

But but since u went into indepth about different transmissions lol like auto th350 th400 4l60e 4l80e manual nv4500 nv3500 t56 ect. But u didnt mention 350z trans. I've heard it's a good trans to swap and 6spd. It seems pretty popular now. I dont remember the model numbers but its basically a 350z g25 ect trans and has really good gear ratios for ls swaps

  • A 4L80e does not just swap in later!!!!! Some of us have to cut the trans tunnel out and build a new one to fit that huge transmission! Then rebuild the interior. So building a strong 4L60e is MUCH cheaper in the long run, right! Or do you know someone who does interiors really cheap. Like a case of beer cheap. Other than that , you did a good job!

    @colejohnson3705@colejohnson37054 жыл бұрын
    • It depends on the power your making. A 4l60e will not be reliable no matter how much you build it past 600hp so in the long run making the 4l80 fit might be worth it

      @JovaniDanteGriego@JovaniDanteGriego4 жыл бұрын
    • True enough. I already enlarged the tunnel to fit the 4l60 in my mighty max. There is not any room.. Maybe with the new chassis I built the 4L80 will fit? Right now I am only pushing 450hp, so I believe I am safe for a while. Have a great day and Thanks for the reply!
