Danielle had just moved into her new home when all of a sudden, a wild magpie landed at her feet. He would follow her around and sit on her knee. Then, he brought his son over. Before long, 25 teenage magpies were playing in her yard!

I know, the character arc was amazing!
Once you make friends with them they remember and recognise you. They are intelligent and playful.
That one magpie who started all this must be a legend in his community by now.
If this relationship started as she said, I'd say that the first magpie was raised by a human, or had a friendship with someone. Wild magpies don't randomly approach people, but they do trust them for food. They're incredibly intelligent.
Probably magpies unlike humans are far less prone to idol worshipping.

Aussie magpies are amongst the most intelligent birds in the world , it speaks volumes of your character and compassion that they follow you around outside and find safety and happiness in your sanctuary , thank you for sharing a great heartfelt story in times of uncertainty.
It's said that these magpies were originally from Britain but due to the fact that they were a bit naughty they got sent to Aus in the 18th and 19th century
They also have the title of the world's angriest birds. They attack anyone that gets too close to their nests. It got so bad that the people who live around them gave them the nickname "Sky Orca".
1:26 The fact that she named her lawn as "MAGPIE MANOR" shows just how much she cares for those birds....❤️❤️❤️

As scary as Australian magpies can be, they are actually quite friendly, i had a similar interaction as this lady with a wild magpie, me and my older brother were playing with shells on the beach then a maggie came up to us out of nowhere and began joining in on the fun!
Are they related to crows?
Yes, hence their similar intelligence
She's a beautiful person and the birds can see her positive energy. Wonderful!
I had the same thing happened to me
Is it possible that she was "chosen"?
Well, I'm trying to be friendly with magpies and crows here in England but no luck I feed them every day, they come for food but after they eat they just F.off until the next feeding.

I think Magpies are super smart, similar to Ravens and Crows. We had one as a pet, my dad found him, he had fallen out of his nest. So we raised him on our farm, and he was free to leave when he was old enough, which he did over a period of time. We had named him "Hugh". However, later it turned out that "Hugh" was a female!! Because she brought her babies back home 🏡 to visit!! 😁 💙🐦💜🌏
They are really smart. They make & use tools, work in teams, recognise faces of humans (and know which ones are non threatening) and most tellingly experience grief.
