So we raised him on our farm, and he was free to leave when he was old enough, which he did over a period of time. We had named him "Hugh". However, later it turned out that "Hugh" was a female!! Because she brought her babies back home 🏡 to visit!! 😁 💙🐦💜🌏

  • Mgpies are such noble birds. They are always on the lookout for people who have kind hearts and an affinity with nature. When Magpies vocalise, all of nature is at attention.

  • I love hearing and seeing the Magpies whenever we're visiting Australia, love hearing the warbling every morning wherever we are. Luckily we've always been staying for months at a time but ill health means we've not been for 3 years now. Seeing this story and hearing them has been wonderful, also seeing how these intelligent Corvids can be such amazing companions whilst remaining wild birds.

    • If it makes you feel any better, it seems like she might be kinda hamming it up for attention. For example: 2:40 "I don't socialize with anyone" 3:15 "My friend invited me to become..." So she goes from not socializing or having any friends to then having a friend that goes so far as to give her the opportunity to be an official wildlife carer.

  • My wife n I had the privilege of rescuing an orphaned american magpie. From about 2days old. They are an amazing animal. They dont get near the respect & admiration they deserve. All Corvids are incredibly intelligent, but magpies seem to have an especially bright & funny personality. We taught her to fly, & she eventually went out on her own, always remembering to check up on us from time to time. I wish people would understand how beautiful these creatures are, & not view them as pests
