  • The fact that this horse isn’t squirming or crying out in pain/discomfort when you’re hot fitting is proof of your skill! You know just how far to go so you don’t over-burn the hoof and hit a sensitive area! Great job!!!

    • There are no nerves in the hooves, which means they don’t feel anything, not even pain…… yes, you need skill, but it’s not like the horse is going to squirm

  • The trimming of the hoof and the frog is so satisfying, watching all that excess material come off to reveal nice, healthy tissue! I know very little about horses but these videos are relaxing to watch. I'm curious about one thing, why three nails in one side of the hoof but only two in the other? Does it have something to do with force distribution, giving a little extra grip on one side due to how the horse walks?

    • I think it’s a liquid that helps reinforce the hoof wall. Or it could be just an oil for moisture, not 100% sure. 🤷🏻‍♀️ after research tho, Kevlar Tuff is for reinforcement and moisture. Helps prevents cracks, moisturizes.. found it on Amazon.

    • So basically horses have a layer like finger nails and sometimes it gets muck and dirty or grow to long so you have to shave it of it doesn’t hurt just like cutting your finger nails except If you hit the bit in the middle wich may hurt the horse but if you watch the whole birdie there is a layer on the frog (middle bit ) that doesn’t hurt

  • Guys,I know this is quite off topic,but I need to ask some questions : 1. Why are horse shoes shaped like that and don’t cover the entire horse hooves? 2. Why are horse shoes metal but our shoes aren’t?(this one is kinda simple but I dunno just need to ask) 3.How do horse shoes get on the horse’s hooves? Cuz I don’t see any nails or drills made into the horse’s hooves.(edit: I didn’t see the video until the new shoes part sorry 😅) 4.Is a horse shoe permanent or one use (when taken off for cleaning it needs to be thrown away)? 5.Are horse shoes comfortable for horses? 6.Wont the horse kick you when cleaning the leg? 7.Why do people clean horse hooves like this? They should just spray the dirt off with water,not cut the hooves off , oh wait maybe they do it because the hooves grow?idk guys do horse hooves grow in height and how does it look like? 8.Are horse shoes healthy for horses and will a horse be okay even without shoes? 9.do horse shoes rust and does it affect the horse? 10. How often does a horse do cleaning on the hooves? Is it very tiring and long?(how long does it take?) 11. *And most importantly, what is the purpose of horse shoes?* (One silly question : does it stink after you clean the horse hoove?)

    • Very, a hoof is a keratin structure. Imagine your fingernails but harder. No nerve endings and the nails are sized as not to go to the part where hoof meets flesh
