Harvey Barnes returns to Countesthorpe Academy!

On Tuesday 7th January, as part of National Football Week, Countesthorpe Academy had a very special visit from Leicester City Football Club Player and ex student Harvey Barnes ⚽
Alongside the Premier League media crew, PE students were invited to attend an assembly which outlined Harvey’s time at Countesthorpe Academy as a GCSE student. He shared his positive experiences and was reunited with some of his teachers, who quizzed him on his final school reports!
Students had the chance to ask Harvey questions, which ranged from his school life to his experience as a professional footballer, with the best question, as chosen by Harvey, winning a signed football shirt. Well done Harrison, in Year 13, who asked a fantastic question about how his experiences have differed during his time at different clubs.
Harvey was then able to participate in our after school basketball club, where he went head to head with our students in a shooting challenging and then had the opportunity to explore around our school site!
Our students finished the day feeling inspired by Harvey’s positive attitude and resilience towards school and his success. A huge thank you to everybody that got involved with the day it was a huge success and we look forward to inviting Harvey back to Countesthorpe in the future!
