Leicester City & their owner: A Cinderella story?

There are many teams that can claim the title of the greatest underdogs in history. There's the Iraq national team, who won the 2007 Asian Cup despite being exiled from their war torn homeland. Or perhaps West Germany winning the 1954 World Cup final just nine years after the end of World War Two, the so called Miracle of Bern.
But, for pure unlikeliness, Leicester City's 2015/2016 English Premier League title is perhaps the longest shot of all. Indeed, famously you could’ve got 5000-1 odds on the team winning the title in the August of that season.

Feel very sad watching this after hearing about the helicopter crash.
He is by far the best premier league owner he actually cared about the fans and the club
Why do you say that?

The tragedy that took place in Leicester over the weekend is completely heart breaking. My thoughts go out to all of those who lost loved ones in the events that took place. I cannot begin to explain the profound impact that Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha and the rest of those involved in Leicester’s Premier League title have had on me. Their accomplishments helped me fall in love with football. The Boss was responsible for one of the most beautiful moments in sporting history. I am certain that his legacy will live on through Leicester City FC and the rest of the football community. May he Rest In Peace 💙
the success of leicester transcend football mate its the greatest story in sports history
You deserve a medal 🥇for pronouncing that name
He can pronounce that, but can he pronounce Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch? ;)
I used to live not far from there. So yes, I can :-) - Joe
Yes lol
Their names aren't easy to pronounce, but they are happy as long as you Thai your best.
@@Tifo The spelling is based on ancient Sanskrit language, but the way Thais pronounce it is simplified to SEE-WAT-TA-NA-PRA-PA.
Recommended today after their FA Cup win. This timing is priceless.
Rest in Peace Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha. You'll never be forgotten for leading a project that produced one of football's greatest underdog stories ever and uniting all neutrals alike. Thoughts and prayers.
Vichai had a dream, He bought a football team, He came from Thailand and now he’s one of our own, We play from the back and counter attack, Champions of England, You made us sing that ... RIP Vichai
Been following this channel almost a year now and as a Thai, bravo on pronouncing the name. Love this channel cus of the historical and political accuracies of the contents. And thanks for saying “beloved King” and nothing else, good avoidance of controversies and we do love him! Keep it up guys!
As a Thai,I know it’s quite hard to pronounce it correctly hahahaha btw I’ve been subbed since before you change the name quite a while the quality keeps getting better.Keep up the good work bro❤️
Also the depth of the Political knowledge is quite accurate as well hahahahaha
This is truly one of the best channels I have found on youtube. Informative and entertaining. Keep up the good work!
Legend's never die, Legend's live on and will forever be remembered. R.i.p Sir, May the Lord Almighty give your soul rest. You will forever be remembered for painting the word 'POSSIBLE' in Football.
Yanz anzz why do you write an apostrophe after legends?
@@Master1906 Because it brings pedantic assholes out in the comments section.
@@Revelian1982 Where? You’re the only comment I see?
@@Master1906 Why did you use a question mark at the end of your second sentence?
@@Revelian1982 because it’s a question lol
Absolutely fascinating. Informative but not boring. Clearly explained and well structured. Keep these videos coming. My favourite channel on KZhead.
This is so hard to watch right now :'(
Nailed his name 😂
A helicopter crash.. I don't know why I feel like there is something more to it. RIP Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha, you played a huge part in english football history.

An Ancient African shut up
RIP Leicester Owner
Fantastic video once again Tifo!
I’m surprised by the level of understanding in Thai politics presented in the video given the channel’s specialty in football. To be honest, the politics related content in the video is incredibly accurate, unbiased, and, in fact, far better than many news channel outlets across the youtube platform these day. Very good job bro!
most quotable episode yet. top stuff.
Love this page!!
who watches this after the terrible crash at LCFC?
I was crying when I heard about this

It's Kaiserslautern back in 1997-1998. They won Bundesliga suddenly after get promoted. One hell of the fairytale like Leicester city. Cheers.

He bought it for 40m in 2010 and sold Maguire for more than double. Inflation in football is mad

That was deep 🤔
Do a video on Socio ownership of FC Barcelona, and the ownership structures of Real Madrid and Bayern Munich.
2016 was THE Year of the Underdog. We got to see Leicester City win the title in the Premier League, and then in the U.S. we had the Chicago Cubs win their first World Series in 108 years in what I still feel is one of the more dramatic baseball games of all time. It might not have been the *best* but holy crap it was dramatic: 7th and final game of the series, extra innings, back and forth game. And I'll admit I wasn't a fan of either team before that year, but I cried when each one took their championship. One because of the pure impossible shock and one because they finally dispelled the title of cursed losers.
I was waiting for someone to mention the Cubs lol
This guy needs a movie.
RIP boss
Why couldn’t it be Joel and Avi Glazer in that helicopter:( RIP Mr Chairman and condolences to LCFC.
Good manager and 3 stars. You have chance to do something special.
RIP !
Could you do one on how utd barely create chances yet scores high amount of goals?
Here after Leicester winning the fa cup
If Thaksin hadn't have the pressure of him being the Prime Minister of Thailand, he wouldn't let go of Man City. The opposition party was trying to get him in trouble all the time. He was the one involved in the Man City Revolution from the beginning. His intention was to develop Thai football and letting other business persons in Thailand know that buying a football club is possible.
Rest in peace
RIP Legend
Rip vichai
That year had the best title triumph since Blackburn but it also had the worst title challenges from City, Arsenal, & Tottenham AND the worst title defence, by Chelsea. How did the latter four bottle it so gloriously is beyond me
Blackburn wasn't really the underdog when they won the league
PRESIDENT VICHAI WHO HAD MILLIONAIRE PROPERTIES AND MILLIONAIRE VALUE HEART...BEST LIVED AND BEST GIVE FOR OTHERS, ALL DID WAS BEST,PRESIDENT VICHAI WILL BE IN OUR BEST MEMORIES TILL FOREVER...RIP.
That moment when you realize Mahrez's transfer was worth more than the value for which he bought the club.

Alfie BFC Kuy but no title
Shame they've binned the youth programme
No youth programme and are getting relegated. How can you even compare? Lol

Why isn't Nottingham Forest included in list of underdog title winners ?
Gustavo Fring Bore off. Forest are crap.
Gustavo Fring Villa as well :(
Forest were one of the richest clubs at the time, with some good players. Certainly wouldn't get on an underdog list for me
Because it's not a list, just a couple examples

That was a tournament. Far fewer games. Winning a league over 38 games is far less likely
