More About "The Fore-Men":
A mysterious and earth altering event has fused together random slices of land, sea, air and flora and fauna from four billion years of Earth’s past into the present day.
Three weeks after the event, it’s clear that this “temporal crash” has made the
air and water a contaminated slurry of ancient and modern chemicals and microbes. They
are slowly killing off animals and survivors, including paleontologists, Sam, and Roger.
After discussing the inevitable threats awaiting them, Roger brings up an encounter he had with
something - or someone -- he ran into while Sam was away on a supply run. A strange humanoid visitor unlike anything Roger had seen, stalked the premises before vanishing from Roger’s memory.
Before deciding to leave their rundown shelter to find help, the same strange visitors Roger saw return.
Demonstrating a strange and destructive power, Sam desperately attempts to fire at the figure only to find that time has skipped ahead into the following morning when Roger’s pneumonia has advanced beyond repair.
After burying Roger’s corpse, Sam marches outward through a wasteland of time only
to find the nearest city underwater. But her pain is short-lived as she comes face to face with --
The Fore-Men.
After a tense confrontation goes south, Sam dies staring at the back of her own ancient
Corpse -- a circle of death and degradation repeated incrementally across the beach.

  • This short shocked me hard because at the scene with deformed city I remembered I occasionally have been having those dreams where our planet starts to change in that way throughout my life. A lot of anomalies hapenning, objects and parts of regions of space combinging with each other, people having different rapid genetic mutations, encounters with diferent otherworldy creatures. And this short has an atmosphere of those dreams. Wow. Kudos to everybody who made this masterpiece. The amount of creativity shown here is beyond limits.

  • So the future "fore-men" excavated her fossilized bones and then compressed time to go back to see her as she died? Their "event" though caused massive disruptions to her current timeline before her death, even contributing to her demise in a way that wouldn't have happened without their "event" interfering.

  • Awesome Short Creators. Just a little observation that took me out of the world a bit. The way the actress handled her rifle made it obvious she had never fired one before, and could not have during the story. For example, at 12:06 she's got the Stock under her arm, with the Butt up against the air, and the scope about an inch away from her eye. A squeeze of the trigger holding it like that, and she would have a broken eye socket, all the skin around her eye torn and needing stitches. However, since we are dealing with a strange mashup of spacetime here, maybe she does? That's how she stumbles backward over the log, and hits her head. But, a strange anomaly of a time dilation bubble localized only near her right eye caused it to heal before she woke up, and that's why the blood on the rock was dry. The visitors also implanted the memory of her lowering the rifle, backing away, and tripping without firing replacing what actually happened. Other than that, great job.

      @Grokroot@Grokroot2 ай бұрын
    • @@GrokrootHa true, I realized that after I wrote what I did looking at other people's comments. Hard to see on my 3" screen. I think the story was trying to depict a "Real" rifle though, right? Not a girl going out hunting a 2000 lb dinosaur with a BB gun. Hollywood rubber guns don't have discernable recoil either, but, they should still pretend to hold them right.

      @jackvfam7197@jackvfam71972 ай бұрын
    • @@jackvfam7197 you are correct, if you suspend disbelief, and assume it is a high powered rifle, it would leave her with a scar she would never forget. I just think of her as being contemporary to our time, maybe 10 years in the future, as her clothes and other artifacts are contemporaneous to us, so it is really distracting that she doesn't know how to properly hold and aim a rifle, and the rifle as she had eluded to is a high velocity round, should also be a model that matches, even if it was an airsoft, or replica.

    • @@A_M_Bobb I wondered why I saw what looked like several bodies in an arch? Did she die several times in different ways?

  • beautifully haunting with fascinating speculative "OTHERS'. the music wraps things together nicely. the house interior as the dr. looks into the large room suggested "STALKER" while the beach scene as she looks out on the remnants of whatever (human) debris in the water did remind me of taylor looking at the statue of liberty in POTA. but please list the actors with everyone else in the notes below; i can't really see what the rolling credits state as the type is too small. VERY good work; hope you achieve an expanded edition.

    • Yes that one is also dope... Hint of Anime in that one, like a "Ghost in the Shell" vibe. Good call.
