  • It amazes me that there are grown men out there that still believe our government cares.

    @boneheaded9751@boneheaded97512 жыл бұрын
    • I would hardly call them "grown men". Many of them are millennial, and most millennials are mentally and emotionally stunted to the point where they're in a state of permanent childhood in an adult's body, and this is coming from me who's a millennial myself. People our age are in a perpetual state of permanently being mentally juvenile, and that's why they want the government to take care of them because they never learned to be adults so they need a mommy and daddy to take care of them still and the government is their mommy and daddy.

      @AGMI9@AGMI92 жыл бұрын
    • @@AGMI9 people like you and I are the exception not the rule when it comes to millenials, I'm afraid. You are mostly correct about boomers being the ones trusting, though. Boomers didn't have to grow up with the same societal uncertainties we did and have a normalcy bias so they don't think anything will ever go wrong. Therefore, boomers trust the government, however, it's not in the same toxic, vindictive and parasitic manner of trusting the government the same way millenials trust the government.

  • Having once had to bug out with two young sons in tow (fleeing for my life) through one of the hottest deserts on Earth (the Nullarbor, in Australia), I can tell you, this guy did almost everything wrong! Every desert dwelling tribe travels at night, and pitches their tents and sleeps during the day! The darkness protects you from the heat of the sun, but also from bandits. You choose an area with at least a little shade (even a shaded rock) and sleep through the hottest part of the day. At dusk you wake up, eat, drink, pack your kit while there is still some light and and prepare to move on, as soon as it is dark. If you come across a dry lake bed, don't think that you can shortcut across it safely! You can be seen for miles in every direction, there is no shade, and usually no water. In addition to this, dry lakebeds and salt pans sometimes have quicksands (or in salt beds, thin crust that hides deadly caustic reservoirs of super-concentrated saline). Keep to the foots of mountain ranges, there is usually water and shade there, and also often patches of forest or scrub that contain wildlife that you can hunt! Even in a desert, trees often have hollow trunks that fill with water during a rain, or they may store drinkable quantities of water in their trunks or just under their bark. It depends on your area, but in Australia, Paperbark trees and Baobab (Boab) trees are known water sources for Aboriginal tribes, also all opuntias (Prickly Pears) are fully edible (just watch out for the spines and also glaucids (almost microscopic irritating spines or hairs), and their fruit and pads are a good source of water. Opuntia pads and fruit can be de-prickled by either brushing them with a coarse broomy shrub or briefly roasting them on the coals of a fire. Some other cacti have poisonous leaves and stems (san pedro, peyote, saguaro especially), but all cactus and succulent fruit is edible, and most are quite juicy as well! The other cactus that is fully edible is Cholla, although it has a lot of spines and glaucids, which can be burnt and then scraped off. It is called the "Jumping Jack" or "Boxing Glove" cactus for a reason, though, so you will have to be very careful when harvesting it! I hope this information helps someone, if you ever have to bug out into a desert biome. God Bless!

We are left out in the cold and radiation, chem/bio/viral/bac weapons and whatever mutates from that. In most countries, you have a chance underground though I imagine the local government will dictate on everything from sex slaves to workers going out and cleaning up in radiation zones while they monitor with drones. No work, No eat. The US though, we have no provisions for general public safety. Nothing. You can bet though, if you do survive cause of your luck and skillset, they will damn fast put you to work for room and board (likely MREs and a dirty ass smart cot and a green blanket) and work your ass until you fall over, while hoarding the meds for themselves and triage the sick, and watch also on drones. If there was an attempt at invasion the invader would lose. If there was an attempt at nuclear war everyone would lose but most assuredly the attacker. We are always watching. We are always listening. We are always calculating. I may not have faith in government which keeps proving itself to be for the rich but I have faith in the military. @johnbarrett5229@johnbarrett52293 ай бұрын
    • Yep, relax. What you can do is what I have done. 1. Decide on whether are going to leave home or stay. If you are gonna stay some things become easier, other things aren't. You are going to make a decision on where you're gonna go also, who ya gonna be living with, etc. Once those simple decisions are made then the real work begins. Teach yourself and kids skills...lots of skills. That is something that they can pass on to anyone, skills don't wear out, break and can be applied to anything or any situation: such as camping, outdoor survival, games and even work. From that point on, you just add to the skills and you never know know it will take you or your kids. My eldest finished with the National Guard, got through college and wound up as a research scientist. And I don't have any worries about their family's future nor abilities. I can say the same for my younger child. First learn critical thinking skills, turn off the TV, get up from the game station and get outside. That is IF you want to set a positive example for your kids. Life is for Living, learning, and passing on your knowledge and values to your children. And it can be a super fun trip!

I've worked at lead smelters & I can tell you after wearing those types for 12 hours a day for several weeks they really start to hurt. At least you folk in the USA have a constitutional 2nd amendment, the Castle doctrine, Stand Your Ground laws etc. Therefore, you have access to guns and you can defend yourselves. Here in Canada, we don't have such statutes, so we are basically toast. Since our citizens are not allowed to own firearms for self defence and only for sporting/hunting purposes. Unless you own a firearm for those reasons, the rest of us would be at the mercy of the thousands of criminals here who own guns illegally. Usually they are smuggled in from the US. For you see, here we depend too much on our police forces and the government to protect us.

Different history - they didn't have a Civil War .. didn't fight a war of independence either - or at least not like the US. Didn't have to fight Mexico .. didn't have access to cheap labour .. didn't mount an ideological war that saw them defeated in every military engagement in the post-WW2 period. No Hiroshima, no Nagasaki, no Korea, no Vietnam, no Iraq, no Afghanistan. Canada is far-and-away superior to the US in almost every aspect - it's respected by pretty much every nation on the face of Earth, and by most citizens of those nations - whereas while it's VERY hard to find anyone outside the US who has any 'respect' for the US - it's extraordinarily easy to find countries and people that have contempt for it. The US might want to pause and ask itself 'WHY are we so disliked? What are we doing wrong?' .. and I say that as an unbiased outsider who has traveled extensively in both the US and Canada.

    • Ryan Curtis Canada doesn’t have near the population. Canada doesn’t have near the racial differences in its history of immigration. Canada is, in comparison, still fairly homogenous. Canada has never had the manufacturing capability because population base. Comparing Canada to the USA is just like the dipshits who compare the USA to Norway, Switzerland, etc. It doesn’t compute - at all. Canada’s entire population is smaller than California’s, except Canada’s population is spread across 3,600,000 sq/miles, where as California is 164,000 sq/miles. America flushes* more shit per day than the entire population of Canada weighs. In closing, Canada is not “more advanced than the USA”.

Sounds like you live in a liberal bubble because I have heard such idiotic statements from people on MSNBC and on college campuses. The President of Mexico and their elites say one thing, the average Mexican citizen says something very different. And the regular working class people in places as diverse as Mexico, the south Pacific, China and Pakistan, all places I have spent considerable time, all speak highly of the world's last great hope: America. Not Canada. Don't get me wrong, I LIKE Canadians. But Canada is a spectator nation while America runs the ball down the field. And EVERYONE knows that.

It's safe to breathe there as long as you stay outside and don't go into any of the Cold War buildings; but I'm pretty sure it's still off-limits for filming. Hopefully not forever. . .

    • @@jenntaggart861 I seriously doubt this. The government isn't going to care if you have an AR15 when they have tanks and drones. Also, there are many scenarios where it would make sense to have the gun and the government wouldn't care. Foreign EMP attack Nuke Pandemic, just to name a view. Now...if you're talking about the government wanting total control over it's citizens than I would agree, but that wouldn't happen without a fight anyway. So...I don't believe the government will ever actually come take weapons. Once they started it wouldn't be good.

  • I live in a valley surrounded by tall mountains with over a million people in it, almost nobody is bugging out successfully, you'll be competing with tens of thousands of others trying to do the same...even you make it out, to where? People don't realize how freakin' hard it is to live off the land for any real length of time. Unless you have an impregnable underground bunker with years of supplies in it you are most likely not going to make it, but what kind of life would that be anyway? Your best bet is to live in a rural area as part of a good community that will work together, have each others backs, otherwise you are just screwed.

  • The Hawaiian guy has no Aloha. Disguising his name as José without a Mexican accent is not hard to point out. Besides, the tats give it away. Guy hauling his kid, not a prepper. If he was? He'd have a to go bag ready-made, and a few firearms at hand. But i get the concept of the show, the more people that don't plan. Will end up like this guy and his kid. 👋
