Pro Street had the best Drag Racing…fight me!
Pro Street was such a great game
The game wasn't perfect, the camera was shit for the speed races and had some weird choices for boss cars (even if they're legendary nowadays). ...but the Drag racing was perfect, the only drag racing mode that I actually liked.
Faxxx💯
That was peak gaming moment
I will fight you on who can agree with that more 😡😂!
Having the option to change HUD to be based on older NFS games would be awesome. Just like what GRID Legends did.
wait i never knew! how???
Right?Imagine having the speedometer from older nfs games.
@@contra7631 Oh my god. It might just be me bug an UG2 speedo or full on hud would make me redownload it
ngl i would put the 2015 hud on it
Look, ProStreet had the best Drag races. Warming the tyres each round and then going at a breakneck speed in a quarter mile its always going to be great. The other drag races before this game were too long (yes, in terms of drag racing, 30 seconds is too long) and the lane switching would screw you in a lot of situations because, even if you reacted on time, there was a chance that the lane switch could screw you anyways.
I mean, age old street racing versus track events. It isn't really comparable.
You're racing on an open street, don't change lane and you get yourself head on into another car. ProStreet was closed street racing and actually drag strip racing. You can't compare them. I loved the Underground and MW drag races 'cause of the stakes: higher speed, higher risks.
@@lucamazza3290 First, you can compare them, if you had an open street racing game that did things in drag racing like ProStreet did then it would be amazing. Second, I didn't said "don't steer", I said that the lane switching mechanic was pretty bad, I would've prefered that you could steer normally in those events in NFS Underground, Underground 2 and Most Wanted. Of course that in the open streets you should move away from traffic. And lastly, you could make a high speed and high risk drag race that isn't +30 seconds long. Both Undergrounds and MW are amazing, but for me the drag races were one of the worst aspects compared to the other types of races.
I will say the lane switch always added an extra mini game to it. Always had room to improve times. But that was also the days where one video game would have to last a couple of months
Don't forget the smoke physics 🤩 it made you feel like you were there
I agree with something to change the meta. The S+ class is just dominated by regeras. I love when i'm in a S+ lobby and people just choose normal cars, but when someone chooses the regera it just spoils everything because you already know you're going to lose. I only choose the Regera when someone else does, otherwise, i'd use the weirdest car i could make to the S+ tier haha.
Facts
The thing is, most of the people who choose regeras are bad as hell at driving, so they naturally take the fastest cars.
The Audi R8 is pretty much the one car that comes close to the Regera, especially on technical tracks, but honestly beating normal cars in a mark 1 Golf is fun, off the line it sucks and it turns like a boat but it's top end acceleration is ridiculous when you swap in a V8
Criterion should reimplement ultimate parts and forged engines and allow every car to reach regera levels of speed. Maybe just the regera by default has ultimate parts installed. It's BS that car just arbitrarily has a higher top speed than everything else.
@@jriftee including the Bugatti Chiron which you would think it would have a similar top speed to the Regera
3:18 the reason why youre thinking that is because Underground 1 and 2 had drag races take place in unique maps, kinda like the canyons in Carbon
And kinda like drifting
Speaking of carbon canyons, id personally love to see it back over drags.
@@Don_Akane89 that can't happen in Unbound, maybe the next game
Nice thumbnail there with UNdergrOUND
IMO they should bring back Drift Train events from 2015 but with a slight twist: have the event feature 3 teams of 2 drivers each where the drivers score points based on their ability to do tandem drifts with their teammates based on speed, angle, how close they are to their teammates etc. I think it might work in Unbound. Also the drag races should be the perfect combination of Prostreet and Underground's drag races: do a burnout at the start of the race to heat up the tyres to get the largest rev range for a launch and the actual races should be fixed to lanes meaning you can only switch lanes like in Underground 1 and 2 and there should be obstacles on the road like traffic, barriers, construction etc and elevation changes to increase the difficulty of the races instead of having it just be "drive fast in a straight line and shift quickly without blowing up your engine".
In other words, you want drag races from NFS Payback.
Nah (not one to tell somebody random no for absolutely no reason)
Don’t forget the Hot Pursuit mode, like you’re going to be the cop in this next update of Unbound, hope Unbound will never die, Theo.
Theres nothing that pumps up my nostalgia like drag in NFSU... Fond times man, i'll always love these videos!
Drag Racing: NFS Pro Street Drift: NFS Carbon Car Momentum: NFS Underground 1 & 2
i'll be honest, that one Payback drag race that was so windy it had no business being a drag race...it was kinda fun.
I remember back as a wee lad playing Underground. For the longest time I was stuck on the first drag race because I couldn't figure out how to shift correctly.
Felt that. I'm guessing it's because you didn't read the manual either until after the fact.
I like how Theo is pretty much all-in for the lane change system whereas Kuru absolutely hates it.
Warming the tires and racing the tree in prostreet is unbeatable
My perfect drag racing would be somewhat Pro Street and Underground combined. Burn the tires to get more grip so the perfect-launch bar is bigger and easier to hit. Also add the wheelie event too, make it so that you need to hit perfect shift everytime to extend the wheelie but make the perfect shift bar so small and harder to hit. In my opinion get rid of the lane switching because is a bit weird on modern games, but still add the traffic cars to be more challenging to dodge. For the drift, hopefully they revamp the handling like the Hayeduce drift mod.
Mods suck just play the game normally
@@joelkennedy9846 nah mods good
Now that I think about it, considering that this will be an underground themed season coming up, they should add that body kit to the Eclipse that was in the UG1 intro. That would be so amazing and deserved. Especially since this is the first time to see the Eclipse again after so long.
Imo the best inspiration might be Payback having its own handling system on separate cars, the drag street and drift specs were different, I remember using the Huracan a lot for drift events and the flow of it was the best I had seen for years
The legendary drift Huracan from Payback
I would love to see some cars from the Underground games return, like the Acura Integra, Infinity G35, and the Honda Civic EX
Good idea, one thing to note is that Infiniti G35 is already in the game but unfortunately as a parked traffic car only, they should give Infiniti some more love tho, since there is only 1 Infiniti.
For drag race events, I hope they can list ALL the results at the end of a race like: R/T, 60', 1/8 mph/time, 1000', etc. And points can be given for each individual result of the race, rather than just the overall result - I think it would be more balanced and reward different kinds of builds. The categories should be weighed differently, too - with the race win rewarding the most, but everything else weighing equal to the win altogether.
You should be able to blow your motor if you miss shift or over Rev. Add lane switching Add new tac so you don't have to squint and sweat at the same time Add....everything else you mentioned
I had never been into racing games but for some reason Unbound drew me into the genre. With the introduction of games modes from previous titles i will go back and play them while we wait for each new volumes, this is excellent from the devs to do this and iam here for it ❤
Welcome buddy, you should definitely play through the 2002-2007 games and maybe undercover to get where this recent direction of nfs has come from. After that you’ll also have a lot of fun with games such as NFS World, Hot Pursuit 2010/ Rivals, The Run & Most Wanted 2 and the new era starting with nfs 2015 and on 🤙🏼
i know its an Underground update, but i really hope the drag race system is taken from ProStreet. the races itself are short, but adding the rounds and an "eliminator-bracket" type thing would be a cool addition
When you said drag and drift gonna change, All my adolescence passed before my eyes! in a fraction of a second I relived all the miseries of drifting on soap and dragrace on predefined lines. the good old times.
The drifting in Pro Street and Shift 2 was 🔥
6:50 I would actually enjoy a camera angle like that, so much visibility in front of you while still being a chase camera. Probably a hot take, but I have more fun when I have clear vision as I race, rather than being bombarded with blur, camera shake, low camera and FoV and whatever other "sense of speed" shenanigans they try to throw in my face that ultimately ruins my concentration.
Lane switching & speedo on the side yes! Could also add an actual drag strio to the map and then do it Pro street style too, burnouts before the race. Be nice to have both.
love ur vids
With the drifiting in Motorfest is THE BEST EVER. I really hope we get drift RACES aaaand drift point events. Both would be amazing.
The tracks with the most diverse shortcuts is something that I miss in the new need for speeds, something like jump bridges and short cuts that don't give as much advantage but create different places to pass, you know, these tracks that are more "in line with reality" take away a bit of the fun for me. and it should be something they questioned
Pro Street style drags, with wheelies and the whole shabang, but one round and no tire warmups and with trucks trains and such getting in the way. No lane switching, it never really worked reliably.
i liked that separate driving modes for drag and drift cuz yeah you said it, now its blended and it doesnt know
Totally agree about lane switches. trying to keep the car straight with keyboard buttons is usually uninjoyable in other games. Probably not an issue with a steering wheel
my ideal idea for the update: - equipping drag tires puts you in new classes (drag classes) and you have from B all the way to S+ just like the "normal classes" - make any drag race a 3 rounds thing, just like you mentioned in the video - and finally if they can add the burn tires challenge for more grip like Pro Street, it would be 10/10 for me
If they do allow drifting on the tracks already in game, they need to theme the tracks and fans like nfs prostreet. I loved that game and everything about it.
IMHO: we should NOT have seperate handling for grip and drift. The cars should just handle like cars via physics simulation like it was during the Blackbox era games. Going back to those games I am always surprised how easy it is to control the cars, because they handle consistently and despite the arcady physics, still handle like a car would. The Criterion era cars always feel weird, like you arent controlling a car, but a rather a kid moving a hot wheels car around. The handling just doesnt make sense.
Agreed, it was literally jarring to understeer at speeds that you wouldn't expect the car to understeer then tapping the brakes real quick breaks the rear for just a second then goes in to a drift, I enjoy asphalt but I'm not a fan of that kind of handling in a full fledged console/pc titles.
Hud, lane switch and those camera effects, at the start its kinda dull, but towards the end you have that blurring camera shake the light trails on the traffic just make the speed seem much more higher
Thumbnail 💨🔥🔥
I'd like a 'Drift' clutch button, similar to Shift being used to run in an FPS. Similar to the Slo-Mo and rewinds we have had elsewhere, it'd allow for some bloody epic scenes to be spontaneously created by the players.
Theo I'd love to see a live where you start a new online account from zero and see how long it will take you to get the most expensive car and tune it out 😊
NfS UG had good drag tracks because they were separate closed off tracks, giving them as much space as they need. In Unbound they have to tuck them somewhere on the existing map, there is gonna be turns and stuff like that for sure.
Forza + wreckfest physics Prostreet + underground gameplay!
It's funny you mentioned carx. Carx has always reminded me of NFS Carbons drift physics.
Here's my thought on Vol. 7 updates: 1. Drag Race - My guess it's like Payback where we head 2 head in a 1/4 or a 1/2 mile. - No ability to Burnout(But i would love to see it coming back, Like during Prostreet or 2015 days). - 3 heat races like Payback and Prostreet. - Wheelie for a RWD huge horsepower car(more than 1000HP) - Traffic added so we can get "Totaled" during races(Althought makes it minimal chance so avoiding them isn't that much of a hassle). 2. Drift Race - I'm really hoping we can have "Drift Train" back from 2015, And it should be more enjoyable since the physics are much more predictable compare to 2015. - Or maybe it's like an "FR Legends" game where our points judged by how close we are to the wall, How many clipping point we drive through, Our fast/rapid transition, And how close we slide door 2 door when doing tandems. Penalty for "Straighten Up", Wrong sliding direction, Multiple transition, etc.(You might wanna check "FR Legends" mobile game if you wanna know what i meant). - Restricted for RWD cars so no FWD like Civic or Golf and no AWD like Evo or GT-R. As for the cars (Since they promised us 2 new cars), My guess are either one of these: - Subaru BRZ S(2024) - BMW M3 (1995) - Mazda RX-7 GT-X(1989) - Dodge Challenger R/T(1970) - Chevrolet Chevelle SS(1970) - Ford Mustang SVT Cobra R(1999)
Very cool video black panthaa
I agree! NFSUnderground! Is the reason I bought back into PS2 limited edition silver! It was when the game released
Pro Street had a really good drag racing concept. I remember they split it into two drag and wheelie
I Truly Agree
For drifting events, maybe it would be better not to have a new handling per say, but to have a wet (or maybe oiled) road surface during the event... That could allow for changing the way the car behaves without making a separate car handling for only one event type...
cant wait for vol 7! 🤙
I loved the og drag racing that was the best how it was a static lane change love it
For me if I had the power to control what the street racing mode will be like. I was trying to do what people are saying and try to combine Black panther's opinion that need for speed underground's way of drag racing with a bit of what people are saying is pro streets drag racing. Basically, when players start the race anyone can play but they'll be split into categories based on the road. They're racing on. If it's like a two-player road there'll be two player competitions up to maybe a full 12 players if the road is wide enough if it's not the full player list, it will be played like a tournament where players if they beat a player will be eliminated and will rise up the ranks. The winner gets the most money while last gets the least just like with any other race. The cool thing is this is what the pro street part comes in. They will burnout before the race starts. Doing a good enough burnout will give you extra launch off the line and better acceleration then your opponent who may have not done so well but as they burn out the section of perfect burnout will get smaller and smaller like in that game as well after that 321 and then go the race down the The straight line and if they get to the end they win but they got to be careful as traffic will be in the way. Just like in underground. They'll be able to switch lanes but based on their handling they will either switch it instantly or be very sluggish and slow making all the difference in play style
Love to be added canyon drifting with pink slip. Canyon racing with pink slip should be added ❤
i’ve been drifting in this game since launch and i love it but there are sometimes when i drifting and then it won’t let me transition so i have to break but then i don’t have enough power to drift again immediately, so basically you have to full throttle to drift. also when u hit like a npc car or something there’s like a small timer before you can drift again
Drifting in Unbound can already be very satisfying but you need the right car and build alongside a skilled pair of hands. My biggest gripe with it is how cars kinda lose power if you go into a turn in a funny way which is something you can remedy with some builds and with manual gears, but ideally I wish they'd make new tracks with a new kind of surface that makes car slip easier or have new drift tires do the same thing.
Pro Street drag racing was great. I remember having a Charger that did wheelies.
I think in terms of grip the handling model is already great. I love how grip builds micro drift to get that extra angle. I wouldn’t want that to change. I think that if they made drifting smoother it would definitely be helpful, and certain cars are a bit oversteery when it comes to burst nos/supergrip, especially on mid engines cars like the segg and r8, it’s even more pronounced in MR cars like the segg and the exige. Of course that last part is probably more of a skill issue, and in some cases is counteracted with just going full throttle, but it would be nice if they made the super grip feel a little smoother and be a bit more predictable on certain cars, a tiny bit less snap oversteer-y. Overall, I think the handling in nfs could benefit from a teeny bit more smoothness, but not to the point where you’re having to relearn the handling model, it just does what you want it to do more often.
I also wish there was a time attack mode where either you ghost through traffic or there’s none at all so that you don’t have to worry about dodging traffic and just chase the best time. But that’s besides the point.
Different handling model for each normal races, drift and drag is the best way to do it. Rather than having the player need to change 50 sliders to get the perfect settings everytime you just want to try a different race type
Love how you weeve through cars and locked in lanes in drag
My big tire M2 would LOVE some drag racing
I feel like they should incorporate the legendary nostalgic Acura Integra starter car from NFSU 1 as a main reward for an Underground Anniversary Series Update, since that car hasn't gotten any love since that game for some reason while the Skyline & 350Z + etc NFS Editions clearly has.
The one thing I hope they don’t do is the Underground lane change system. In my experience, the lane change was inconsistent at best. Sometimes the car would change instantly while other times it would feel like a full second delay and the car would change lane too late. I hope they do more of an NFS 2015 style with a Burnout stage before the race and freedom to move the car where you need to, then have it like Underground with an exciting jump over the draw bridges or something like that, and a good length to it.
I would like them to add in a special location just for drag racing. Also events at straightaways at night.
I hope they add the part that was in prostreet drag where you did a burnout for the tyres before the race
Your new haircut cut and beard is cool
I do wanna see more after market car parts like underground but the drag racing im really excited about
My Personal most fun Drifting game mechanics came from 'Juiced 2 ' 😊
Also, I would like to tune my drag car to do wheelie’s on some pro street type shit
When I think underground I think really over the top customization and the magazine cover runs Anything longer than 40 seconds should not count as a drag racing
Imagine they bring some of the underground 1/2 music Like you open the game and hear riders on the storm
Am i the only ones that wants the nfs underground motion blur. That’ll really give it underground vibes. Definitely excited to see what they do with drift and drag races.
Would love if equipping drift tires just change the handling so that it’s possible to still drift around in freeroam
Ima be honest, I ain't watched a pants video in a minute but dude looks like he has been putting in work.
My first NFS game. Completed it in a Honda S2000.
I like the idea but also don’t be afraid to add a dedicated section like a drag strip. I love drag racing on the street but let’s be real if traffic is added and it’s online just imagine getting wrecked out because some lane shifted on you because of traffic. So add a place that can be a designated drag strip if possible.
As long as it isn't The Crew drag racing, which is incredibly dull and feels like one of those "if we add this we can check this box!" Kind of features.
Hard to say honestly, I personally would like to see drag racing more like irl where if you cross the center line you lose. But this is NFS so most likely not. Would make it a new kind of drag racing in NFS history.
I wonder if they gonna bring back the OG drag mechanic where if ya crash ya automatically loss (cause ya wrecked the car) and if ya overrev at the beginning you burnout
Pro Street was definitely the best designed drag and the drifting was actually super fun also. But the most fun drag racing was definitely Payback at the air strip even tho it was just free roam drag racing.
Also, for money it should be a high risk high reward like real drag racing. There is a small set amount of cash for the race but each racer must agree and match a single bet. Winner takes all
I actually like the drifting in Unbound. It can feel like its fighting you, but that's mostly because you probabky don't know how to transition properly. Once you find the right car and tune the handling properly, you can chain together seemingly endless drifts. Its kind of crazy to me that so many people apparently had a hard enough time with it, that they might need to overhaul it..all I thought it was missing was more drifting content. There are way too few tracks/playlists for that event type.
We need a pro street 2
My boy wats up homie
I know this probably won't be a possibility, but I'm starting to wonder if the off-road tracks will serve a purpose in this update other than being used for off-road races.
Love the improvements they have made and I like the underground drag racing. Hopefully they turn off the crash cams.
Never thought I'd see Trent Alexander-Arnold talking about NFS. Jokes aside, I'd prefer Pro Street's drag races. Straight roads, ¼ AND ½ mile, AND the perfect ground for Muscle cars, encouraging variety. For Drift, I'll go with UG1, UG2 and Carbon. The latter ESPECIALLY made Drifting so much fun. Drifting at 200 km/h (120 mph) is ludicrous af, but really satisfying
I'd like to see something like pro street drag racing mode, or Underground style line changing drag racing. Even something like CSR2 drag racing too. I mean I'd like to see anything but not usual racing straight and calling it drag race. Think most of us wish the same.
God lets hope drifting changes in NFS its kinda infuriating how they did drift events
Honestly I wouldn’t mind the top down view for the updated drifting, and absolutely can’t wait for the return of drag racing, that’s the only reason why I still go back to Payback every once in a while
I think of both
Would love to see the beck customs f132 to return I loved that car in the other games
Best thing to do.. would be an option to switch what handling ya want.. If u want to drift and have that nsfu handling, u would select DRIFT.. If grip.. then GRIP.. I don't think it would be that hard to implement it to the game..
Criterion should add something new on story mode like adding racer on free roam. To give them head2head which gives $20K in first place, and $10k if second place... 1) Also a time trials +S tier only that gives $80k gold, $50k silver, and $25k bronze no Buy-in. 2) Bait crate from Payback returning to Unbound that you must escape from the police to order get the crate. 3) adding past nfs cars to unbound like (Rivals) Type 140, Sesto Elemento, GTA Spano, Veyron SS, Aventador 50th anniversary edition, Gallardo Superleggera, Agera R, One:1, Venom GT, Huayra, FF, and F12 Berlinetta. Beck Kustom F132 should be returning that comes with side mirrors and no splitter
Payback drag racing club was the final hurray they should bring that back different clubs different set ups for drift and off-road
For drag they really gotta improve the muscle cars. And the drag upgrades GOTTA let you do wheelies. Id love to see there be no lane switching, but still have obstacles, traffic and a different handling style. I felt like in the black box games the drag events gave me the same frustration as I do with the modern game handling where you don't feel like youre fully in control. More often than not Id be using speedbreaker in MW to turn in the drag events instead of actually relying on the lane switching mechanic. It would be cool if the drag events were round based like Pro Street with burnout minigames. Maybe each round has a different set of obstacles? Honestly as far as drifting goes I want it to be more like NFS Carbon where its super fast and smooth, and relys on having scoring zones and being at high speed as opposed to Manji Manji Manji. Also having burst nos disabled in drift events cause it usually screws you over more than helping you. Id settle for CarX or hayeduce style drifting though. No more drift buttons. Though, maybe they could keep gas-to-drift's binding as a way to preform a clutch kick since the game doesnt have clutch support to my knowledge. I hope they fix double dipping too - where you get grip AND drift burst nos for microdrifting a turn. Its satisfying but janky as hell. Ideally the grip burst nos should be continuous like the drift burst nos, and you only get one or the other. For S+ they need to bring back forged engines and ultimate parts and allow other cars to reach Regera levels of speed
Anyone who have problems with drift in unbound probably never tried putting slider into 80-100% drift and downforce to low. The drift is so satisfying here that idk how ppl can hate it. Littery pants using his nissan in video with probably only 20-40% drift, thats why he can`t keep a single clear corner.
For anyone want to eexperience good drift get a firebird, put a V8 Hybrid engine swap and slider to 70%. The most fun i ever had in NFS.
@@ivanromashko6511Yeah I don’t get it too. I got an RX-7 and it’s a lot of fun
Juiced 2 hot import nights had the best drifting of that era of games
Set it up as it own race like the old day
I think the new handling system in the Audis that are recently included in Unbound is great. Way more predictable 🔥
Need for speed underground 1 and 2 had the best drag racing fact end of conversation done 😂
Is 24s by ti gonna play when we first load the game on the update releday
They should bring back vehicle tuning like the underground days along with the dyno
