  • The people who are in charge are doing more harm to the environment with these rules than good. If they really cared about it, they would subsidize the creation and mass production synthetic fuels so that all cars existing in the road can continue to be used without emitting any CO2. Instead, they’re forcing us to buy new electric SUVs with tax rebates and incentives because it does better for them. It’s always been about the money, never about the environment.

  • People who have small families need sedans. People who have large families need vans. People who are single need small reliable practical hatchbacks. Young people need fun affordable economical coupes. People who enjoy driving need sports cars. People who enjoy sporty outdoor activities and off-roading need real 4x4 trucks and SUVs. And most importantly, we all deserve to have the freedom of choice and variety when it comes to our automobiles. Crossovers/CUVs should not exist. They are the automotive equivalent of cancer. The ONLY reason they are everywhere is because automakers profit WAY more from selling a car that’s marketed as an “SUV” even when it simply isn’t one. They’re all literally just compact and midsized sedans with a useless lift, plastic fenders, heavy tall bodies, bad fuel economy, poor visibility, heaps of unnecessary tech, and higher price tags. And consumers (ESPECIALLY in America) are so unbelievably ignorant to what they want in a car that they will happily pay more for a crossover than a comparable (and safer) sedan/wagon. Plus they get that glorious false sense of security from sitting higher and increasing their rollover risk. It’s so tragic, and so so stupid. We all deserve much better than automakers have been giving us for the past decade.

    • @@ii_dynasty Small families have always used sedans / wagons / vans. Look at any video of traffic from as recently as 20 years ago, and you won’t see an ocean of same-y crossovers as you do today. You’ll see tons of family sedans, wagons, and vans of all different shapes and sizes. You’ll also see real, rugged and capable SUVs and trucks. No oversized, overweight, bloated, copy-paste, hatchbacks with useless ground clearance and plastic stuck under the fenders. That’s what ignorant people drive around today. People who don’t understand that putting a 2 inch lift on an oversized hatchback with independent suspension doesn’t make it an SUV, it just makes the car roll over and end your family when it gets into an accident, especially with something smaller. They’re bigger, uglier, worse on gas, worse handling, more top heavy, have no capability to warrant the excessive height, more expensive to buy and maintain, stuffed full of expensive idiot sensors, and bought by people who don’t know any better. They’ve become the default vehicle option for 90% of clueless people who go to the dealer and just want something with wheels. It’s a lot easier to sell turds to people who dont know they’re buying turds. Those people fuel the greed of the automorive giants, while those of us that enjoy cars and driving and raising families are left with a bunch of different brands selling the same boring fat cars. No more Sedans, hatchbacks, wagons, vans, coupes, convertibles, etc. You can hardly even make the choice of body style and brand anymore, because they all just sell the same 3 sizes of “SUV”s for everything now, and some of the biggest names in the automotive world have even decided that YOU don’t get a choice. You buy a truck, SUV, or crossover, and nothing else.

  • Remember when sports cars were a thing? Like, decent, affordable ones? Remember when pick-ups that were actually made for and fit for transporting stuff in normal conditions still existed? Remember when luxury cars were actually luxurious and weren't just miniature nightclubs? Remember when people didn't think they needed a 2.5-ton, gasket-blowing, pedestrian-obliterating, fuel-wasting post-modern aberration on wheels to "be safe", "have more space" and "drive over potholes"? Weren't we meant to NOT waste non-renewable resources?

Also i agree with France SUVs should pay more for parking a lot of times happened to me i couldn't get in my car (cause it's a 3 door 206 GTi and the doors are long af.) cause biggen parked right next to me and a lot of times i have climb through the passenger side when that happens.

It was emitting half the emissions of an average car from from past 2-4 years when it was inspected just month ago before selling it to enthusiast. Also weight that's almost half the weight of said cars. Even on my 2000 Citroen Xantia, I sometimes feel terrified on small roads around my area when those SUV/CUV come towards me.

A simple 2L Diesel and it works very nicely. second would be the VW Caddy from my stepdad, a 1.2L TSI, nice for the family and to haul things, works great for everything you throw at it and still is smaller than an SUV while even carrying a lot more.

Yes, because in those 10 years, gas prices and overall costs for those cars I wanted in my teens...they are not affordable for me - they were expensive in the beginning anyway, but now? My golf 4 is doing absolutely fine, but damn, I think JDM will be my next true upgrade.

  • For those saying: "I like an SUV, because I can sit higher and have a lot of space" I always respond: "Buy yourself a Ford Transit/ VW Transporter". A perfect blend of majority of customers not caring, legislature promoting transportation for the rich and companies fixated on short-term profit rather than long-term gains - all this is set to kill the transportation for the lower classes, and thus kill the car and the fun that came with it. Because, lets be honest - although a new Lambo or a classic McLaren F1 are works of art, the true heroes of our love for cars were the Fiesta STs, the non-posh 3 series, cheap coupes like the Cougar and all the other cars like these.

  • Instead of the current Hurricane to bad Chrysler didn't do a Barra on the 4.0. The bones of the Barra go back to the Thriftmaster 140 cid inline from the first Falcon. The 4.0's bones go back to the 232 and 199. A DOHC version used in a race series sleeved down to 3.0L iirc gets 500 ponies with two 2bbl Weber downdrafts. Using the 4.0's basic architecture could yield a family of engines anywhere from 3 to around 5 liters depending on bore and stroke combination. A beefed up block and rotating assembly could possibly yeild a diesel.

  • My theory( atleast for America) for why "Sporty"/ Luxury SUV's and crossovers are so popular are these two main reasons. 1. The Roads and infrastructure suck and its easier to deal with them with a big SUV or truck. 2. A lot of people who want to the performance and status of a Luxury vehicle, also want the additional safety and visibility of it being an SUV.

On the other hand, I had no idea who is buying these, me and everyone I know can barely afford a 10 year old commuter cars, so it seems like the people who actually care about cars cannot afford them at the moment. It only has 130hp yet it is more fun to drive then even a Cupra Leon, at least the newer one or any new car that I could drive. And 2,6 tons for a car is basically driving a boat on long straights🤣🤣, the car looks ok, the logo is a call back to the 70's from what I remember, yet it is so weird to now associate Muscle car with electric or a straight six

The only good things about it were the steering wheel (nice to the touch) and it was a special color (Photon Red, which is pretty much just orange in most lighting lol) - The lack of power was disappointing, and the transmission just didn’t know how to be a transmission. Considering it’s a “sporty” SUV crossover thing, it was wayyyy too stiff for daily driving, and again, the transmission was just bad for what you’d expect in a Jaguar. It was used and only had about 17k miles on it and was listed for $29k US. I couldn’t imagine how ripped-off I would feel if I had purchased it new (not that I would’ve wanted one new LOL)

  • I have a nissan leaf. It's a small electric hatch back. It has 107 HP but the car is exciting. It's fairly zippy when you take off eco-mode. You can't really go super far. But if your just going a little ways it's great. It basicly feels like a e-bike or a e-scooter but enhanced. Because you can go further then those and you don't get rained on yourself. The 0-60 isn't fast. But once your allready moving you can go faster easily. But at the cost of range. I wouldnt even compare a gas engine to an electric in terms of horse power. Even if there's 100 more horses in a gas engine then electric and the electric weighs more. I'd still want it way over the v8. The thing is that the acceleration is just different. Why you see electric cars go slow is because if your going really far. You can go much further if you drive alot slower. How I drive is I try to use the minimum amount of electricity. When I go down a hill I gain momentum. Trying to use momentum when I go up a big hill so I don't have to use as much electricity. The car could go up the hill no problem. But I always try to drive it lightly incase I have to drive more later that day because the range just isn't great to drive a lot in one day. My car is just really outdated. My car can only go like 82 miles compared to new cars. That can go way further.
