  • Again, beautiful theory! I love how you analyse such small details about the story, most people are not bothered enough to understand more about it but I was really curious about it, so thank you again for making this video! Very nice theory, loved it!!

    • I'm glad you enjoyed this one too! The Souls games all have very intricate lore that's impossible to solve without reading the description of everything you find in the game, so I'm used to scouring through details and trying to find answers. I appreciate your support!

  • Valentinus was my first thought after beating the game and being posed with the question you answered, "Who has lost their whole family and is important enough to be of note?" I didn't see or connect all the wall writing, either, so that was a nice, sad twist that falls in line with the tone of the entire game. I don't know about Val having to swear on Sophia's life, but there could be notes I missed. Val being patient zero in what seems like the Krat's second(?) big outbreak also lines up with the story and tone. This game is so much fun, it's like an Aesop fable via Bloodborne. Also, could it be that the legendary stalker is Lady Antonia? She brags about having a "fierce" youth and had prolific influences in music, education, and philanthropy. We know that there is precedent for musically-inclined stalkers (White Lady) and educated ones (Owl Doctor), and many were from the nobility. P learns to appreciate and play music in the game, too. My headcanon is that the Legendary Stalker felt deep remorse for losing Gemini, Carlo, Romeo, and everyone else at the Charity House, she even blames herself in the ergo flashback, so she pivoted her career to helping the city recover and provide a place for safety, the hotel, with deep connections to both the Alchemists and the Workshop. The first things she says to P are that she's good friends with Gepetto, that P is always welcome at the hotel, then she gives P Carlo's school clothes from when he lived at the Charity House.

  • A few more hints, when you enter the room Sophia is trapped in, on the wall, theres a bunch of bugs displayed, and a singular blue butterfly as well. I don't think she used the butterfly form she made to talk to him, i think it was just a reference to her, a personal one that no one could logically get right away. Simon even calls the communication through ergo a "cheap parlor trick" implying it already existed, so it seems far more likely that Sophia just used ergo, and the butterfly was Valentinus way of remembering it was her, without giving it away She mentions that she has powers over the flow of time, and so she could easily have turned back time and tried to let Valentinus know, which may be why he took the fake cure, because the petrification disease doesn’t turn people into monsters, the fake cure the alchemists gave to the church does. So even the praying has a lot of significance, because we do know that Valentinus was involved with the Church, he wa slikely the one who distributed the cure, not knowing it was a fake/one thag hadn't been tried. This may be why Simon wants a world with no lies, because it was a lie that made everything the way it was, and his own master spread it, even unknowingly. This gets into who made the fake cure, I have a guess. Paracelsus, the one that hides as Giango. He gives us a seemingly perfect cure to the petrification disease, which is already suspect, since he told us first that he's a new and practicing alchemist. He knew the first cure was a fake. He also speaks of the importance of Gepettos Puppet, implying he has been trying to get this specific result, not only that, he hints about the next game. This leads me to believe he also has time powers. Theres a few pieces of evidence besides this however, one is that he always appears next to the tree, regardless of if you talked to him first. That's pretty huge, the other piece of evidence is that Sophia regularly turns back time for you, yet she is still herself fooled, implying theres someone making things different as well. Anyways, the rabbit hole goes so deep when you play the game through and just don't do certain things, yet see just how much it stays the exact same

    • To add on to this: as to why Paracelsus' cure seems to work while the alchemists turn people into monsters, maybe the secret lies in the dosage? The real life Paracelsus (born as Theophrastus von Hohenheim) was an alchemist who was most famous for emphasizing the importance of dosing in distinguishing between toxicity and treatment. Perhaps the only difference in the two cures is the dosage levels

    • Thanks for commenting! A lot of interesting things here. First, I agree about Sophia and the butterfly--I always assumed she was communicating with the Hermit via ergo and not by sending a butterfly. That being said, why she has a separate identity as the Blue Butterfly or Blue Fairy is something I haven't figured out yet. Either way I don't think the Hermit knew that the Blue Fairy and Sophia are the same entity, but we have no evidence to support or contrast this so it's all speculation. Second, I don't think Valentinus ever took the fake cure. The lore from the cave mentions the water being corrupted ("the water is strange, I'm not sure when it started but my tears and blood have also turned blue"), so I take that to mean that the water from the swamp is what mutated him. I know Medoro's note mentions that the mutations are side effects from the neutralization process, but I think he was just making assumptions about the Hermit. Third, in the collectible we find called Simon Manus's Confession, Simon writes that he wants a world without lies because he could read his creator's mind (whether that's his father or someone else is unclear) and knew that he was viewed as a failure. I won't type it all out here but check out that for more info. Either way Simon knew exactly what the fake cure did and he spread it intentionally in his quest to find immortality, so I don't think the cure has anything to do with him wanting a world without lies. Finally, I've done a few playthroughs where I decide to ignore certain characters or actions, and the two things the game forces you into no matter what are relationships with Alidoro and Giango. If you ignore both of them they still end up where they need to be, and I think that's mostly because they're important merchants and the devs don't want you locked out of the unique items and quests they provide. There may be some lore reasons to back it up but I think it's a bit simpler than that. Either way it's all fun stuff to think about.

  • Yessss! More lores! Ah, I really hopes to see Medoro in the DLC, he's had quite a presence looming across The Barren Swamp and many collectibles and it would definitely be very interesting to learn what he found out, the truths, hopes that he still alive. Alas, we sure do will see Hugo again, he'll be playing quite an important role speculating from from the Publisher's posts.

    • I agree, Medoro has such a strong presence and knowing that he was friends with Venigni, Sophia, and Alidoro makes me curious to learn more about his story and what he uncovered. I have a feeling they won't expand upon him any more in the DLC but I would love it if they would prove me wrong!

If you owned it on PC or a console then you could find a way to stream it to your phone but I know that's not what you're asking, so unfortunately no, you can't play it on your phone.

  • Brilliant theory crafting here. I always knew the hermit carcass was special the moment I killed and it suddenly talked lol, but I couldn't piece together just who it was on my own playthrough. Never would have guessed Valentinus Monad but everything fits perfectly once you piece it together. Hope this channel gets big, souls/soulslike lore vids that are more than just plot summaries are always such a treat

    • Comments like this make my day! Thanks a ton. Once I started playing Lies of P I was surprised at how quickly most of the big Souls lore channels dropped it as a topic because it felt like there was still so much information to be uncovered. I came upon this conclusion about the Hermit accidentally when I was doing research for my Gemini video and it's neat how things like this can fall into place when you least expect it. I appreciate the support!

    • @@inspektahmcduck I agree that there is so much lore hunting and speculation potential in Lies of P, many of the larger lore channels either made one plot summary type video or never even touched it. Unfortunately I think even many souls fans just dismissed the game entirely as too hard for being heavily reliant on parrying, as they were expecting it to play like most souls games where dodging is the main defensive action. But for me I actually like Lies of P's parry focused combat much more than Dark Souls lol, I remember another youtuber describing it as "dodging is a defensive action that feels defensive, parrying is a defensive action that feels offensive" which really captured why Lies of P feels so good to me

      @fish963@fish96317 күн бұрын
    • @@fish963 That's a great way to put it and I agree 100%. The combat and parry system is so addictive that I'm worried Elden Ring won't be any fun the next time I go back to play it. Lies of P might be my favorite combat system of any game I've ever played. As for other souls fans dismissing it, I think a lot of people heard it was a "Bloodborne clone" and never gave it a fair shot. Lies of P does borrow a ton of elements from Souls games but it truly feels unique and worthy of standing on its own, and I feel like some people never gave it enough time to realize that.
