I really feel like 1 thing that makes this theory fall apart entirely is that the nameless puppet at the end just turns into a version of Pinocchio that listens to geppetto and looks exactly the Same as you in the other ending

So, this retelling of the story of _Pinocchio_ , with characters named after and/or based on characters from _Pinocchio_ , which involves lying and gaining humanity, like _Pinocchio_ , has the Tin Woodman from the Wizard of Oz as its protagonist? Evel Knievel would be proud of such a leap. Like others have commented, if anything, he may be both characters. But here's what we're explicitly told: he's an artificial boy created by a man named Geppetto, he has a cricket companion, he's aided by a magic girl with blue hair, he's a liar, and he's trying to gain humanity. He _might_ be the Tin Man, but he's _absolutely_ Pinocchio.

What's the explanation for the portrait having a growing nose in this theory? What's the relationship between the Tin man and lying or trying to understand human emotions? Feels like if we are not playing as Pinocchio the entire premise of the game falls apart. As for why our character is made of metal, is probably the same reason why all the other puppets are internally shown to be made of metal and not wood: Durability. Remember, in this world, they are called puppets, but they behave more like animatronics. They have actuators, cogs, springs and machinery inside. As for the nameless Puppet, I think a more direct explanation could be that it's called nameless Puppet because that's Carlo's body, but we still hold 'its heart,' and so, in Gepetto's mind, it might as well be a nameless Puppet because he was shown to not care about anything other than his son, even going as far as protecting us when his son's body goes for the heart, which in Gepetto's mind is his son's entire being. This also explains his shocked face when he sees P cry, as it makes it look like he finally realized that his son was P all that time as Carlo's humanity grew on us. I just think the entire game's narrative and drive falls apart if we are not playing as Pinocchio or an allusion to Pinocchio.

I disagree, mostly... The game is called Lies of P. The story revolves around our character lying. We have to be P. We are Geppetto's puppet; we have to be Pinocchio. There's no one else whose lies matter in this game, other than our own. We even have a nose-growing-painting because of our lying; and no one else's. It is entirely possible we are still the Tin Man. There is no reason that Pinocchio cannot be the Tin Man in this connected world the devs are creating. We'll just have to see. While it's a neat idea, the theory of not being Pinocchio just doesn't really hold up. Not the Tin Man part; that's quite possible, and a neat idea for a twist (Pinocchio being Oz's Tin Man), but there's almost nothing to suggest we aren't Pinocchio.

I think Lies of P is the beginning of some sort of Fairy Tale mesh. What if the next game you play as the Scarecrow in the a different fairy tale setting looking for his brain?

It's possible that in a future DLC, Pinocchio can lie and pretend to be the Tin Man in whatever quest Dorothy might get up to.

A question related to Dorothy-what are they going to do with the shoes? The Wizard of Oz is in the Public Domain, but the book's magic footwear were silver shoes. The ruby slippers are still owned by MGM. Will they try to license them and, will MGM agree to it, for a game with her? If not, could they get away with not specifying the red shoes as ruby? Hopefully, MGM will (even did?) license the rights.

I don't think you can ignore the facts that the mc is a puppet created by Geppetto in the image of Carlo and installed with Carlo's soul (ergo). I think that MC is the third iteration of Geppetto's advanced human like puppets. Version 1 was the nameless. It had too many violent tendencies so was shelved. Version 2 Romeo, created with the soul of Carlo's friend, was used as the King of Puppets to implement Geppetto's plan to gather all the ergo in Kratt. Geppetto stored the MC in the train while he went about his schemes. It was Sophia that woke the MC up and set him on the hero path. On the other hand I do find it credible that this game's MC will take up the slot of the Tinman in someway if there is an Oz based sequel. But that is more of a matter of a convenient similarities between robot like characters in both stories. In summary the MC in LoP is Pinocchio and will also moonlight as the Tinman in an Oz based sequel.

Cool thought but this is clearly not the case. Gemini cricket guides us from the lamp we are given at the beginning through the whole game a direct parallel to the Disney movie. Also while the heart dynamic aligns more with tin man than pinnocio I’d argue the p organ heart is much less critical to the development of p than the idea of him becoming a “real boy” the three possible endings point to this. Also we are given our “heart” mid game still a puppet without real love it’s not until we make more human decisions we become like a human with hair changes. Unlike tin man when we get a heart it’s not a night and day difference instantly gaining a soul like in wizards it is only a minor step in allowing p to become a real boy.

I don't doubt for a second that the Lies of P is actually Pinocchio. There is too much evidence to stack against those crumbs the video had to show. BUT I also think that does not exclude the possibility for him to be the tin man on the next game. Tin Man, like Scarecrow and Lion are not actual names so for all intents and purpuses THIS Pinocchio still fits in the Tin man discription. And would be a great connection between the games

I'm just going say that the Nameless Puppet is not Pinocchio it is a refrence to Geppettos dead son from the tale also I don't think we are playing as the Tin man nor Pinocchio as majority of the main game is focused on a altered version of the Pinocchio tale while Wizard of Oz comes in prob in the DLC, and the reason the Nameless Puppet doesn't have name is because his son is NEVER mentioned by NAME in the tale he's simply known as Geppettos un named son
