I agree that this pack has a pretty good amount of build/buy stuff considering that the pack is balanced out with gameplay and a nice CAS. I think some ppl will feel like it has less build/buy just because builders have been spoiled in the last few packs so we got used to expecting build/buy to carry the packs on its shoulders.

  • As usual James, a very thorough review. I agree with the Great Abyss of the shed. They could have added a version of those double doors or even just a curtain. That stark darkness is spooky. And being able to enter the phone box is a missed opportunity. It would be a great woohoo spot for those sims that like public woohoo even if it's interrupted by Agnes. Or wanting to use it but someone is already using it and seems intent on staying all day. The bedroom stuff is lacking but we did finally get an iron bed and a dresser with an attached mirror. I hate it when they create everything for a room except ONE thing like the toilet. They made all that clutter and debug stuff and couldn't make a toilet? At least add a plain white swatch to the vampire one. Thanks again.

    • Personally since this pack has so few individual items (not complaining exactly, kitchen sets and gameplay objects like coop and cow shed are obviously the reason) I would have been so upset to see yet another toilet. We have SO MANY toilets and so few sinks/tubs in comparison, that it makes total sense to me. There are several base game and pack toilets that can be used with the sink and tub and fit in. I wouldn’t have been opposed to an additional pack exclusive swatch added to an existing toilet but they tried that with Island Living and it didn’t go over great with most people.

  • I have to agree when I saw the black void on the barn I was shocked that the devs actually signed off on it for release. Its this kind of lack of attention to detail and quality that disappoints the sims community. Doors surely would have been easy to add its all there already (ecoliving containers?). It looks terrible and incomplete. Again the non functioning phonebox if it was purely decoration would have been better as a debug item. I'm German and I always felt that Get Together, while having a lot of awesome items, the old timey windows and doors left me wanting. I especially love the dry stone wall, the wisteria and the stained-glass windows. However, I do feel like there are a few things missing. In another pack i’d love to see a stable door that actually separates! And some hanging baskets or roses that could climb up the houses. Some more items like a grandfather clock, a tin bath tub, fireplace decorations like newspaper baskets and pokers, muddy wellington boots, stuff that can hang off a beamed ceiling, some comfy cushions, window seats, egg cups, a mug tree and an antique landline phone would be great. Those are all items that remind me of my grandparents cottage! And I totally agree about wanting a toilet with the water tank up high, as I’ve got one of them in my own house.

    @ellenscrace4481@ellenscrace44812 жыл бұрын
    • Not advocating anyone buy a pack they aren’t interested in for a single item but if you don’t use CC and really want a pull chain toilet with a hanging tank - there is one in the Vampires game pack. Along with a decorative radiator and a worn antique rug. If you don’t mind having vampires exist in your game there are quite a few things in that pack that would fit well with this one. I understand why people want a pull chain toilet but given the number of toilets we have in the game compared to other items, I would have been so annoyed if they had included yet another a toilet in a pack where the item count was already lower (IMO it’s fair that it’s little lower given the full kitchen counter/island/cabinet set, chicken coop, cow shed, and all the new gameplay and animations). I am begrudgingly accepting that they felt the need for yet another commercial style bar (another item we have an excessive number of) given the importance of pub culture in the UK and the inclusion of a pub as the gameplay hub for the Finchwick fair. I really would love an item balancing kit - where it’s just a collection of random things that we have far less of in comparison to others. Like I was so excited when Snowy Escape had a new kids chemistry table (that we had one of) even if they still did include yet another kids drawing table that we get in every other pack.

  • My biggest gripe with this pack is something I don't see anyone talking about. People say its great that they are exploring other cultures than the US with their packs (paywall for culture is another discussion). But compared to Snowy Escape where the culture had heavy reference and was very correct, and if questionable was then corrected. The British culture reference in Cottage Living is waay too vague in comparison, and what is referenced is actually incorrect. Small examples that have bugged me include french style shutters on windows (not typical here in 99% of UK) and huuuge open gardens per 'cottage'. There should be fully terraced buildings in the backgrounds etc, and thats not an issue with game size bcs its easy as debug items for RAM etc. Its frustrating as a British person after seeing how amazing they were with Snowy Escape. I got hyped to see my culture just to be massively disappointed and kinda annoyed. Even more annoying that know one seems to care like they did for Snowy Escape. Although some things look very accurate such as the veg competitions, this is a big swing and a massive miss 🇬🇧 Edit: for further explanation, no carpeted stairs, should be way more carpets added in general for this pack, no functional tea pot/kettle with gameplay element, haven't finished watching but someone please tell me they at least added radiators
