That also makes sense why Bella’s whole family is together in the Sims 4, the alternate timeline. The timeline where her warnings from the past had worked

If she really escaped you would've had any sort of hint about it, such as Nina/Dina being locked up or some lore regarding the past. Go read Caliente's biography in Sims 4, if you still think it isn't an "alternate timeline" aka just EA being lazy then you must be high.

The Caliente family name literally has the word alien in it. The Sims team were never subtle. But the Sims 4 isn’t part of the same lore universe as the rest of the franchise - Bella was never abducted in that game.
Maybe Bella was able to change the future of her the Sims 3 kid-self by writing those books. And that's why she's still there in the Sims 4?
I mean.. Caliente just means "Hot" in Spanish. If the devs were alluding to aliens on purpose, that was a clever bilingual joke.

What I find very interesting is that when you play as the goth family, Cassanda has a negative memory of losing her mother. However, Mortimer has a positive memory of losing her. The sisters are aliens and Mortimer had a romantic relationship with the one of the Caliente sisters. So I think that Mortimer worked together with the Caliente sisters.
im pretty sure mortimer is a knowledge sim. they always have positive memories when they or a family member get abducted by aliens. while it's suspicious, i usually chalk it up to the way the game was programmed.

Matpat! Another mystery in the Goth family is from the Sim 3. There’s a grave in the backyard named “Lolita Goth” who died of electrocution. The texture beside her grave is more brown dirt compared to Gunther’s parents who had dark green grass, implying that she was buried recently. In addition, if you look at any of the Goth family trees, there no Lolita in sight

Beat me to it- I was originally going to comment this? Come to think of it, Bella's death really wasn't in vain, seeing how in the Sims 4, an "Alternate universe" to the older timeline, has its Bella alive and well, even if the Goth family overall are at different ages. If everything is correct, then that means the sisters WERE in fact thwarted by the preparations that Bella made in the past to affect the future, changing the timeline as a whole.
Bella was just taken to be a part of one of Graystillplays’s “experiments”, honestly a fate worse than death. But that’s just a game theory.

Well, there’s another key piece of information that you overlooked that’s very easily very early stated in this whole thing Bella was the last scene scaling that means climbing his balcony. Nobody finds that weird but me.
She may have been climbing his balcony for personal reasons (affair) but she was abducted from said area before anything could happen

I think there is something missing in the theory. Bella was last seen scaling the deck of Don's condo, but why? Was she lured there? That could be a possibility as he was dating both the sisters, they could have made him lure her to a to his condo and then sent her to past. Not only that, this would also explain why they sent Don to past, to erase any evidence. Anyways, as sims 4 was my first sims game, I used to think sims games don't really have much going in them but now after watching this I was surprised. Great video mat.

I desperately want to see more Sims theories in the future. The entire “canon” has this mysterious air to it, and since it’s supposed to be a sandbox you only ever get just enough to make you wonder, so it’s always super intriguing. Creeped me out as a kid. If I recall, the Sims 2 has an entire plot when played on PSP, I wonder if that ties into anything.

The sims 2 also has lore on sims 2 ds, such as the mayor of strangetown (Honest) being murdered by a mafia man (Frankie). Iirc didn't the sims 2 psp also happen in strangetown? I remember nervous subject being dead in that game
Ps2 sims2 had storyline as well.
Sims 2 psp had ghosts, monsters, zombies aliens, a cow cult, a robot wife, a mad scientist, bella, and a couple of other weirdos. It's so interesting maaan.

We need more sims theories. There's so many mysteries in the sims. Like Olive in sims 2 with the graveyard in her yard, her romance with the grim reaper and her son who was taken away and adopted by evil scientists.
The amount of lore we have within the sims games is crazily abundant. If matpat did a deep dive he would have soooo many videos on his hands. I am all for matpat getting into sims lore.

I like the idea that Bella got the last laugh and her efforts in the past changed the timeline and resulted in Sims 4 where Bella and her family are fine and the Caliente sisters are still stuck with Don and no longer a threat.
You're gonna love Strangetown's backstories. I personally like Curious, Beaker and Specter household backstories. Specter family is creepy but also very sad one.
Sims 2 had the BEST lore to play with. I miss Strangetowne every day!

Bella also appears in psp version of The Sims. She walks in the small store, disoriented and not remembering anything. But she gives away her house to you. The house with a ghost maid. There is also plot line story about aliens in that game.

As someone who had a phase where I was obsessed with Sims lore, my personal favorite explanation is the one Plumbella covers in her “Bella Goth Mystery Solved” video (not the exact title but if you search that you’ll find it). It ties everything together without having to make any leaps that are too far and explains other mysteries like the identities of Mathilde Goth and Lolita Goth (the first being a sim in the Sims 3 with seemingly no connection to the family but looking exactly like Bella, and the latter being a sim in the Goth’s graveyard not found on the family tree) and even why The Sims 4 is in an alternate universe.

@@trickskitauknow7744 but the Sims 4 is an alternate universe. There is no correlation with the original lore anywhere in the fourth game. For example, Bella never disappeared, Don Lothario is a serial romantic but has no relationship with Cassandra which makes sense since she's a teen and he's a young adult. The Caliente sisters aren't even aliens and although there is still quite a lot of drama surrounding all these characters, there is no backstory suggesting that the abduction ever happened. So it's not a leap, I'm pretty sure it's canon or in reality extreme laziness on EAs part so that they didn't have to continue that storyline.

Y'know I played a Sims game on the PSP, it was from the 2 generation and the intro shows Bella running away and giving you the keys to her home. It's odd but she's terrified of the town she lives in and no longer wishes to be there. There's ghosts living in the house you receive, and lots of strange things happening. It's interesting to play to say the least.
I played this, I thought it was a fever dream to be honest, I was just about to ask for a theory on that😂

The psp version also reveals secrets and 2 of hers are basically that she never loved mortimer and married him for money

well he didnt really find the lore here. sims townies have always had lore and backstories
maybe bella's books in ts3 is what led to her surviving in ts4, so ts4 isnt an alternate universe but an alternate timeline. she avoided the caliente traps via reading those books and getting the hint in childhood (ts3) , so instead of settling in pleasantview where the sisters would come, the couple settled in willow creek, and she convinced mort to take writer career instead of scientist (therefore he wont invent elixir of life and the sisters wont target him). That explains why her ts3 bedroom is so unusually emo/gothic, she knew too many dark stuff for her age (her future tragedy). Not to mention, she's in secret intelligence career in ts4, which now makes more sense bc she prolly needed connections and special info to pull this whole stunt between timeliness to save herself/avoid repercussions for already changing her fate/bust the calientes for their abduction attempts bc normal law enforcement wont believe her

but if the ts4 is an alternate timeline, how do you explain the existence of Katrina Caliente, their 'mom'? It might just be that the devs were lazy or the fact that the original creator stepped out of the franchise after EA bought it, but before ts4 Nighat Caliente had always been their mom.
This would be cool, but the world Lunar Lakes where Bella was sent was in the future, not the past. Matpat missed that. So, the books probably weren't by her, but could actually be by Alexander Goth if his father married Dina and Alexander somehow ended up with their alien tech.
Bella is for sure the most known Sims Lore mistery, but there is a LOT more. There is even a channel devoted to it. I dare MatPat to uncover Lolita Goth or the hidden cloned misteries

The different mechanics The Sims uses to hide lore is so fun and creative! Plus, there's some surprisingly dark/intricate stuff hidden in those games (Princess Cordelia, Greg and the Occult Wars, and Agnes Crumplebottom to name a few😨) I hope this becomes a regular go-to!

Only tiny flaw here is that Alexander did actually travel to the past too! I think its in the DS game where Alexander is all grown up and married to a girl called Cecilia Goth but its set before the events of the sims franchise. So its theorised that he wrote the books in the hopes that it may change the course of events in the future and stop Bella from being abducted in the first place. Sims 4 is meant to be set on an alternate timeline which could very well be the one created due to Alexanders actions.
The Sims 2 had some wild lore - especially the Strangetown sims like Olive Specter and her graveyard garden and secret son who may or may not be the Nervous Subject (there are two of them), or the sim who married alien who abducted her father. But then there's Brandi who got pregnant with her husband after he died. So much to explore!
Not to mention Nervous subject's genes being a literal clone of the grim reaper.
This theory has been out for a bit in the sims community. But I like how concisive and easy to follow this was compared to others who have come to the same conclusion. If you aren't a simmer it might be terribly confusing otherwise. Great video!
I do wish he would do theory's for other Sims backstory's but I feel like that's not really going to happen.

Izzzyzzz recently did a video revolving around Sims lore and Bella goth was a big part of it, the most interesting part is that when you find Bella Goth in Strangetown (Sims 2) her character model is different from the actual Bella Goth, implying that it wasn't actually Bella, but some sort of alien copy that got sent back to Strangetown
Devs confirmed it to be the same Bella, due to technical issues they couldn't just move her over(trying will cause corruption) so they recreated her and that's why she has differences.
