the southwest guy with "can you say that altitude again, I'm turning too many knobs here" is SO real lmao
😂
OMG SMALL WORLD! I just randomly watched this video and heard myself in the background! Hi from San Marcos, that’s me on the comms at 18:59 ! Skyhawk 6319G ! ❤✈️
Wow that’s so funny! 😂
It's something of a phenomenon how one minor unanticipated event can turn even the most routine flight into something of a nightmare. Many accidents have occurred in the past where pilots become so fixated on minor issues that they forget to fly the aircraft. Disciplined pilots like Max here show you how to handle problems like this, never becoming distracted enough that flying the airplane wasn't the primary task. Good job Max!
Right, but if I were him I wouldn’t have even tried to push the electric trim switch. That could have sent it out of whack and locked his trim all the way in one direction. Best thing to do if there is an issue is to not risk causing another one
As they teach in aviation training: Aviate Navigate Communicate Handle situations in that order and you'll be fine.
I beg to differ... he is extremely distracted by his video production and comes across as somewhat apprehensive in dealing with the trim question..
A minor issue is one that someone else experiences. Like surgery.
Interesting that the trim circuit breaker was not checked and was not in the checklist. CitationMax is a very well organized pilot so this is a little bit of a surprise to me..
Having a jet properly enter the pattern and work with others instead of skipping right to the final shows a lot about why we love to watch you fly Max. Stay safe.
Watching you use bleed air to clean off the windshield reminded me of an incident that happened when I was a ramp rat for a cargo handling company in the 80s. We handled some old DC-8s for an air freight company and these still had their original P&W JT3D turbofans. They were airstart but since they were not high bypass engines they didn’t need the huge amounts of air to start like a modern engine. So we used a large “bottle” of compressed air which was in reality a tank of compressed air on a trailer. It held just enough air to start one of the turbines and it would be used to start the rest. This was in Florida and it was a warm and muggy evening and everything was covered in moisture much like in the video. It was time to start the jet and the Captain signaled to start number 2. The Flight Engineer opened the air valve and the turbine started to spin up. Once it got to speed the Captain opened the throttle to add fuel. However, just as he did this, the First Officer decided he needed to use bleed air to blow off the windshields. Oops. Apparently he was new and used to using engine driven start carts that had an endless supply of compressed air and not a tank that had just enough. Long story short, the tank ran out before the turbine was really up to speed and before it was generating enough airflow to be self sustaining. So the turbine spools down and a flaming stream of JetA comes flowing out the back of the jet. Thankfully, the Captain was fast enough and had the throttles closed before it got too bad but it did scare those of us on the ground. It took us almost a half hour to go borrow a start cart from Delta and hook it up. The Capn was giving the FO an earful the whole time. As for me, it was something I’ll always remember.
Citation Dad and Mom are blessed to have a professional pilot transport them ...Great flight Max !
Thank you! Appreciate you watching the video and your kind words. Take care.
10/10 cockpit management + situational awareness! Business as usual Max! Always, a little busy airspace between the three local airfields in Kerrville, Fredricksburg and Boerne. Thanks for keeping the right seat open for us, Max! ✈👍🏼
Thank you Adam! Appreciate your kind words. Hope all is well!
I love the kerrville airport!! I used to drive by there all the time and see the Mooney hangar! I ferried jeeps for Wagonmaster and usually dropped them off in centerpoint or in kerrville at their shop.
@@stanger427 No kidding? I just moved near T69.
Especially with that pesky right traffic at T82
Hello citation max is your repair at destination only for the citation or is that for all aircraft
Huge respect to the pilot of the Bonanza. That was just so kind.
Watching your videos, is like being part of the adventure; Thanks ! ✈️
Punching out through the low fog layer never gets old. I'm glad to hear that the trim issue wasn't a huge problem and you handled it well . Glad to hear that your mother is doing well. As always take care Max and thank you for taking the time to bring us along with you.
Always interesting to see traffic coordinate in VFR. Good thing the other pilot offered to let you in front, it was clear you didn't want to come across as demanding. This was a fun video!
Here in Texas we always let the fast movers have the right of way, it's a lot easier for us to just extend a downwind or make a huge teardrop to let them in. We don't want someone with a 50 knot overtake speed behind us! Besides, they're sucking up expensive fuel at an unbelievable rate.
It's a reasonable thing to do; I've requested an extended downwind (when in the pattern) when 121's are holding short for me. Bit of professional courtesy
Interesting is not the first word that came to my mind lol. Texas being texas, allows these pilots to figure it out themselves
A busy flight, indeed, Max. I'm always impressed with your flight management skills.
Thanks David! Glad you enjoyed it. Hope all is well
For those interested, song in the beginning is 'Giants nest - Heart Void' @Max, brilliant video, as always!
Max, I am halfway through the video so I don’t know what your mechanical issue was going to be yet. I want to say beforehand thank you for your professionalism, for doing it the right way and vocalizing your thoughts. I’m a 53-year-old man who just got his commercial, working this next 2 weeks on my multi. I hope to get my first paying gig in the next couple of months. You are an inspiration! Keep doing what you’re doing my friend. You’re making a bigger difference than you may realize…
Good luck on your multi checkride!
Inspiring to me to hear you getting your commercial at 53! That’s fucking awesome dude.
Watch these from the UK. Hats off to you Max. Exactly what a pilot should be, clear, calm and concise - do you ever get flustered? Keep up the good work, we all love these great videos.
Great video and job handling the technical matter! Your content is amazing. Thanks, Max!
Let me say hello from Germany. You are doing my dream. I wish I can fly like you one day :)
Love the update at the end. Good touch
Just incredible handling such a high performance aircraft so effortlessly, & so great to see such great piloting detail, & perfect radio work, superb as always, an inspiration to all pilots
Amazing management skills and narrative skills while being a top notch pilot!!!!! Thank you so much for sharing your skills with us!!!!
Another great job as usual, you are a great pilot , thank you for letting me come along!
Just started watching your videos. Hope all my pilots are professional like you. Keeps me feeling safe!!!!
Omg can I just say after watching and being a pilot myself. Your landing was absolutely fabulous. Soft, quiet, just amazing. Good job brother and be safe my friend.
Max, I really like your interaction with the controllers. What a great group.
I'm always impressed by your videos. You make flying a private jet look so easy!
Thank you, pilot Max, Always a learning moment. I'll just buckle up and wait for the drink and snack cart.
Wow it’s a lot of work for one pilot to both fly and monitor, especially when things go wrong. Great job Max. Hope your channel continues to grow. You’re a very professional and pilot guy.
living my dream. thanks for taking us along. Cool to see the instruments so clearly.
Very nice flight Max, as always. Kudos to that Bonanza pilot for his courtesy and professionalism.
Awesome! Citation Max... Godspeed...
Most excellent sir! Enjoyed very much as always
You were busy as usual, but had a little extra on your plate with the trim issue. Glad you got it fixed. I enjoy flying with you.
Very nice landing Thanks for given us the opportunity to be with you on the flight, God bless
Max, you handled that trim failure like a champ. Great work!
Thankfully you got the San Antonio Citation Service Center near Gillespie County Airport. Glad to see everything is working good now.
Amazing to watch the VFR pattern entry and landing. 🙌🏼
Another great flight Max. Always a pleasure to watch how well you handle your flying techniques, mannerisms, and professional nature, even with a Pitch Trim Issue. Citation Mom should be proud of you.
Great job on the flight! Nicely handled. Glad this didn't happen on way back to KHPN. Hope Citation Mom enjoyed it.
Great son!! Taking mom where she needs to go. And you handled that like a pro. Precious cargo!
Another great video! That update on the trim on the end was appreciated! I was thinking:"What about the trim?" and Boom there was the answer 👍😊
Awesome job, Max! Love your vids!
Max -- this content has been bonkers man. Thanks as always for sharing your journey and giving us some of the best PJ flying around!!!
Also curious what the outcome of the Elec Pitch Trim was. Part replacement?
Thanks so much Brandon! Really appreciate it and glad you’re enjoying the content. Re Trim. They came out and serviced the trim system. Re lubricated the Cables and worked on some connection lines to the Trim servo. Haven’t had an issue with it since!
I love watching your videos, Feel like I am in the cockpit. Keep them coming.
Great video! Fredericksburg is a great town to visit especially during the peaches season. They also have some good museums including the Chester Nimitz museum and the National Museum of the Pacific War. There are tons of great restaurants and wineries.
Max, you made it to my birthplace. TX is mapped like its own country, weather variations occur each day; dry and sunny this morning, wet and cool by the afternoon. Hope you enjoyed your time there and got some wood-smoked barbecue (none of that gas grill stuff). Great flying with you.
wow that was a quick takeoff !! Thanks for sharing :)
1:05 another great video. And to quote CitationMax1 term a little “sporty” in the fog then the trim issue. Glad it was minor fun watching u hand fly the approach
Great video, as always. Thank you! But… would love to hear a little more detail regarding the trim anomaly.
Nicely done once again Max, as always you remained calm and completed your flight like a true professional👍Awesome video once again, can't wait for the next one!
Thanks very much! Glad you enjoyed the video. See ya on the next one
Just amazed at how calm you are with any issues, fantastic! thanks for sharing and I do all the nervous worrying for ya LOL
Thanks for watching Rob! Appreciate it. Hope all is well
This channel and P1D are the two best aviation channels on youtube.
They are my two favourites too.
Thank you very much!
I discovered your chanel yesterday, I love your videos, kind of motivational as Im having IR courses. Greetings from Europe
That was very dramatic when you popped up out of the fog. 😊
Always a pleasure flying right seat with you, Max. Stay safe.. Always a pleasure flying right seat with you, Max. Stay safe..
Absolutely love your videos! Newcomer and I can’t get enough! Thank you!
Thanks so much Kyle! Welcome to the channel. Appreciate it
Great video, a little bit more exciting than usual 😊.
Thanks Max.. loved this
Echo the positive comments on how you handled the Electric Trim failure and demonstrated proper checklist use to respond. Nice that it happened on the back end of the flight with good weather and not after departure with the LIFR conditions you had. Well done sir!
Oh how I love flying in crappy weather. Also love how you remain so cool after losing the electric trim and had to hand fly then cancel your clearance. I was also impressed by the Barron pilot that showed courtesy and gave way to 2RF. In my next life I want a job like yours. Thanks for the video.
I haven't seen you in awhile glad you are back.
Always a pleasure flying right seat with you, Max. Stay safe.
Thanks for watching! Take care
Great video Max! Thanks so much for keeping the takeoff roll and complete landing in the video! Loved it!
Thanks very much for watching Dave!
Love it when Mom"s on board!!!!!!!
Such a beautiful plane and the landing was so smooth. I miss flying . I cant wait to start ATP
Thanks for the update on the trim fault. I like how you went into calm, professional mode in dealing with the issue. Good job!
Thanks very much Doug! Glad you enjoyed the video. Take care
Hiya Citationmax, super cool flight & video with super crisp coverage of the whole flight so please keep them coming GL&HF coming from Dulwich London England (✌️peace ✌️)
You are the Best ,God bless you .From Ensenada Baja California México
Man, that flight had a few tense moments! You are such a pro. Mad respect. And one lucky mom! Keep up the fantastic work Max!
Thank you for watching Ted! Hope all is well.
Very professional Max. Enjoyed the flight.
Nice work as always Max! Loved hearing you talk with the bonanza and working it out with the other plane so the chance of a mid air went way down! How much easier it is having a small conversation with another pilot to work things out between yourselves instead of just position reports and assumptions is a really great thing and will always help keep GA pilots alive! Very cool sir!
F'burg is a nice little airport. Some good eats can be had there. Nice flight.
Once again Max. Great job. You make it look easy.
Thanks Doug! Appreciate you watching!
sweet re maintenance on trim - safe travels Max.
Great video! Fredericksberg is a lovely town! Visited from the UK a few years back and got burned (Literally) in a little shop that sells various chilli sauces - blew my head off!!
Thanks for the ride! Something different for us all to see. Seems much faster when landing on narrower runways!
Thanks for watching!
Anxiety went up a little just watching when going into uncontrolled field. Great video as always Max!! Really enjoy all the explanations of what your doing. There’s a few channels I like watching that I wish did more in depth explanations of what and why they’re doing what they’re doing.
It's not uncontrolled... but pilot controlled. Lol. I'd say Max handled it great. Props to Bonanza-00B pilot for giving way to a citation. He didn't have to do that but that's what makes sense to do usually.
Man you got a lot of friends
Starting to really enjoy your vids,..Your knowledge and humility are top notch!
Thank you very much William! Appreciate it
Awesome workload management. That was very cool to watch.
Very interesting flight this time. Thanks for sharing the experience!
Thank you for watching! Glad you enjoyed it
Wow, that was a busy approach and high workload with the trim failure. Great flying as always.
Thank you Matty! Hope all is well
Another stellar flight Max. Love that Garmin Suite. So awesome.
Thank you Vincent!

WOW 🤩An amazing tripreport,,, Greetings from the Netherlands (Europe)
thanksn for the vid bud. always fun hand flying..great job
Thanks for watching!
@@CitationMax seen every vid u have put up. watching from South Africa
Great job Max...can't let a minor issue interfere with the flight. Bonanza pilot was very accommodating...
Well done. Thanks for the update on servicing the trim. Do you mind sharing what the fault was? Always a pleasure flying with you.
You are so lucky and blessed to be flying such an awesome plane. The planes I have flown while doing my PPL were all older than me. Cessna 172 and 182 from the 70's. Had to give up on my dream of achieving my CPL. Got too expensive for me. Now I live vicariously through channels like yours, drueling over my desk and keyboard and flying in MSFS. No substitute for the real thing though... man do I miss it. Keep the videos coming.
Fredericksburg! A great place to visit. Saw the Hanger Hotel and Diner out your window on roll out.
That was excellent Max....busy flight!
Thanks for watching Gordon!
Beautiful flight Max! We'll done on the trim failure protocol and smooth-no panic. We'll done, well done. C-ya!
Thanks very much! Appreciate it.
Classy move by that Bonanza pilot.
Very classy! It was much appreciated!
Hi Max, instrument student here. You make it look easy...thanks for the ride!
Outstanding flight Max. Love the minimums takeoff through our complex airspace. You handled the trim failure in your usual, professional manner. Pure textbook, this is how you do it. Great video too. Loved the intro music. Don
Thanks very much Don! Hope all is well.
Great video Max you stayed cool even when things went wrong with the instruments a true pilot
Very foggy this morning at HPN. Glad the winds were calm.
Awesome as always. Thanks Max
Thanks for watching Zack!
Great adventure! HPN and SWF are my home airports.
Great video. Thanks
