  • Turkish here. There are closet toilets and classic toilets in modern houses. The classic toilet is more hygienic, healthier, and most importantly, it does not freeze your region in winter. And we don't call it Turkish toilet

  • Also in Italy we call it Turkish toilet. It used to be popular until the fifties I guess. I saw one recently in the courtyard of an old public housing and still used as a café's toilet. It is actually quite hygenic because only your feet touch the toilet. It also puts you in what doctors call an anatomically correct position =)

  • Yesterday I had a really funny conversation. I told a friend about some words from the Podcast and the friend did'nt believe me, you don't say "Downtown" in british English. The argument was the series "Downtown Abbey" is set in Britain. :D I had to laugh so hard.

  • I like so much listen to British English but I'm unable to speak that, so I speak American English accent and this makes me so much happy because It wasn't my intention to sound American but I have it just from the box - no much effort to achieve. Cheers!

  • Hello! I'm from Russian, Bryansk and here some schools, kindergartens and universities still have these so-called Turkish toilets, and yes they're double or even triple with no partition 😥

  • It seemed to me that you say "grocery" differently: you Luke say like "gro sə ry" and Sarah say like "gro ʃə ry" or something like that (if I'm not wrong). Either way, thank you very much for this very helpful and pleasant conversation 👋

  • Greeting from Indonesia....talking about toilet that Indonesia traditionally has a toilet which is at the same level with the floor that user step ...so user has to squat down. ...it will confuse European n American I think.
