50 years of watching our culture's media and NO ONE has ever had the stones to deliver that Espys monologue. The GOAT of IDGAF.
That was very “Ricky Gervais” like for sure! Lol
That ESPY crowd really had their heads up their asses. Norm absolutely killed it.
I'd say Patrice O'Neal was the GOAT of IDGAF. He just had a shorter career. No one was more publicly honest, ever. Norm a close second in my book.
No one who would be asked to would at least. Gottfried definitely would’ve too.
6:40 "There was an East German woman and I swear you could see the outline of her entire penis!" Audiences in 2023: "I don't get it. Also, why did Germany have two teams? Why would Little Moustache Man get two teams? Also, where's Germany?"
Whoever had the idea of inviting a savage comedian who is also a degenerate gambler host a sports awards show in front of people who cost him huge sums of money was just... A genius.
“Allegedly, but also really.”
Alleged, but not a legged
@@Chunkieta nicely done
He lived to push the envelope. Love him or hate him you can’t help but admire the guts this man had.
Love
Who hates Norm? How?
love him
Balls of steel
Who the fuck hates Norm?
"unless you kill your wife and waiter." That line always kills me!
You weren’t alone. ☑️👍😎
And thw wife😊
It killed Nicole and Ron too
That line line always kills me...and my wife and waiter.
The crowd was torn.
Watching Norm shred these uptight pricks was amazing. Watching them squirm and shake their heads in disapproval, chef's kiss 🔥
Well said.
The more the audience cringed, the bigger the smile was on Norm's face.
I approve this message because your name is (or is it?) Andre.

He's the king of the quieter but longer shocked laugh. Where it might start a second later but it lasts a few seconds longer than normal as people wrap their heads around it and realize how good it is. Like they're laughing against their will almost. Genius.
this is so apt
You nailed it.😊
John Stewart's "Please don't make me laugh at this." comes to mind :)
I love how none of these athletes are used to being a comedic object. And the TV execs are all scowling.
"There's kind of a curse with Rookie of the Year. No one's ever repeated it." That was really funny.
His ESPY monologue will go down in history as the greatest most uncomfortable moment in sports history. And no audience was more deserving! Norm didn’t bring a gun to a knife fight…he brought an assault rifle! 😅
An assault rifle is still a gun
@@edibaber5525What a dumb comment
Love that!
There is no such thing as an assault rifle.
Killed it at the ESPY'S , and today it's funnier than ever... thanks for the laughs man....
Making Charles Woodson cringe is still epic
What a horrible joke, reminds me of that tragedy
@@mattiasakemalm1412 I see what you did there, lol!
The Woodson joke was BRUTAL and fucking hilarious 🤣
Killed it? Like that wife and waiter?
Norm NEVER gets old.
You tend to stop having birthdays after you die, so I agree.
Literally
This reminds me of that tragedy (that Norm died)
@@ptptpt123yea he really made September a depressing month
Norms espy monologue was the best thing the espy's has ever done, that was hilarious
Second best, Jimmy V's '93 speech months before he died is number one.
I swear to God Griffey Jr's reaction to Norm's OJ joke proves what kind of a majestic badass Norm was. He stared down everyone and forced them to confront inconvenient truths with his comedy. His ESPY monologue was epic in the face of a dour and humorless sports culture. But Blake seems to 'get it'. The Pistorious bit was sick. "...with them things that look like Wile E. Coyote would order!" Man oh man.
Ken Griffey Jr. Has to be the most clueless and humorless mannequin in that audience.
Yeah when I saw his reactions I immediately thought “Great, he’s absolutely zero sense of humor guy. Everyone’s FAVORITE!” He should have roasted him on something…like his entire time with the Reds.
Norm reportedly was confronted by Junior afterward and Norm retorted with “You will never be your father”. Which is a great non-defensive comeback
Griffey was a punk
@@chazworm3Awesome if true
“He smashed the 20 minute mile, they said it could never be done”…silence…. 👌😆
It is called "mordant wit"...many people are too dense, or maybe fearful, to appreciate that type of humor. But Norm just didn't give a crap about that!...he was a comedy warrior, just sticking it to the world!
Tiger Woods was smiling because he was still thinking about the interns.
Underrated comment
Tiger knew this bit was funny.
Norm at the ESPYS deflating egos. He spent enough betting on their games, seems only right he should get something back out of them.
There will never be another host at the ESPYS that can even come close to that monologue.
You can see everyone in the audience is thinking please don't do me next.
Ken Griffey jr. still hasn't gotten over this joke
That self-entitled prick still hasn't gotten over himself.
G-d I miss this man. He owns the room and answers to absolutely no one. That twinkle in his eye before the delivery is my favorite.
Why the hyphen instead of the letter “o”?
@@rtc3564I think it actually refers to god damn, though, it’s also a practice of some not to use the name of god in vain. And censoring it helps them feel as though they didn’t go against that. Though I can’t speak for Matthew
@@radimakesmusic You probably right. I assumed it was self censorship but I was like damn, can’t even let yourself type out “god”? Lol
@@rtc3564 Well not to be that guy but surely it's not the spelling that makes it a sin but rather the intent, so it's still saying Gods name in vain even though you censor one letter lol. I'm not religious in any way but I do find that quite funny.
@@HDitzzDH Right
Only celebrity death that actually made me sad. I didn’t even know he was sick. RIP Norm
That's what he said.
He fought it to a draw
More of a comment really...
I actually cried when I heard he passed away. I grew up watching Norm Macdonald. He's one of my favorite comedians to listen to. He'll always be missed, admired, respected or hated! God bless Norm for the OJ jokes lmfao 🤣 😂
Bourdain
That wife and a waiter joke is top 👌
This video shows, among other things, what a good interviewer Conan was. He sets his guests up, then gives them the spotlight.
Gotta say...that female skateboard queen was insanely hot!..Norm clearly wanted to impress her...but I do not think she was capable of getting his bizarre sense of humor.
I agree completely, but I think there is more due to NYC/SNL. I think they were deep friends. It seems Conan truly appreciated Norm and his approach, and gave him the forum, the room, and the rope to do his thing. I see a friend loving a friend. And I love it.
Always a challenge to entertain athletes. They don’t appreciate being goofed on unless it’s jokes about how rich, handsome, and skilled they are.
Norm was a national treasure.
A Canadian national treasure
An international treasure too!
Is a national treasure. Legends don't die
Norm was fucking FEARLESS. Jesus Christ, that was funny.
“Such ridiculous sports in the Olympics….The guy would run 100 yards and then…..fish”
Sounds like a better sport to participate in than watch.
I just love the uncomfortable looks on the ESPN execs and celebrity athletes at the ESPY's, terrified they may get caught smiling at an inappropriate joke.
They have to protect their brand so they can keep raking in the $$$.
The look of terror on celebrities faces when Norm brings them into the conversation... Roasted.
Lol. Norm was so right about the wnba. People still clown it to this day.
There's a great documentary on KZhead about the WNBA. It's called "the best of WNBA". Duration is 0:03 😂
I can only imagine what Norm Macdonald would talk about now! I wish he was still here with us. I miss him so much. My dad and I used to watch SNL just for Norm in the 90's. He was the Goat of Weekend Update. Norm didn't care about bad press or reviews. He was fearless in comedy. RIP NORM much respect
Why do people always rip on dead people? It seems a little disrespectful ya ask me. Leave dead people alone. They're dead for god's sake.😁
Bro this would never happen today they just wouldn’t let him on
Norm would be talking about who was teeing off on 12 in a non-major golf tournament
I watched a bit of current Weekend Update the other day. It was so lame I turned it off. Norm was way better.
Didn’t realize how the audience didn’t “get” Norm. He was one of a kind.
for a guy that had as many amazing lines as norm, none even come close to that Charles Woodson joke. absolutely savage like no one else before or since
It is so hard to be original when everything is recorded, but Norm pulled off being funny, witty, likeable, spontaneous, corny, and offensive all in one joke… every time. RIP to my favorite comedian of all time: Norm
That Blake Griffin clip was funny. I’ve seen a lot of norm clips, but this one was new and pretty surprising seeing that it was a press conference with Norm in the crowd of press.
Half the retards in the crowd didn't even get it. That was a great crack.
i bet norm loved when the audience booed him 😂😂😂 he doesn't care hahahaha
When you have that much comedic talent you don't.

The way he turns around the Oscar Pistorius joke is a comedy work of brilliance. Very smart AND funny.
Norm was a handsome guy. He had a great smile those dimples and blue eyes. He is the Goat. The fear on their face when he calls theiy name and thry give a smile. He really did have a good heart. He made jokes about the cruelty to get by.
"Unless you kill your wife and a waiter" Norm had balls. Full stop.
When norm says “OH I love sports!” You know something out of pocket is coming. 😂

Geez Norm is killing me! The brutal sarcastic MERCILESS humor, incredibly funny.
When the camera goes to the crowd, they zone on people that just can’t get on board with norms Brand. They all look so pissed that they’re even there. The audio of the crowd sounds eruptive. But the faces show a different side. 😂 I love it.
Only Boomer and Tiger seemed to enjoy Norm.
Baseballer racists had uneasy trouble w his humor.
"... unless you killed your wife and waiter." Norm was absolutely fearless, however, he trashed OJ every weekend on SNL.
As he should have!
*Let's acknowledge the restraint norm used when she said, "multiple black eyes, landing on my butt."... which clearly sounds like "multiple black guys landing on my butt".*
Wow!...I missed that inference!...lol
Yeah I had to replay that part 😄
The OJ joke, tho!! 💀
That East German speed skater joke! 😂😂😂
“Why can’t I race?” “Well, because you’re not a biped” 🤣🤣🤣
If 0 f*cks given was a person 😂
No matter how many times I see that ESPY monologue, it always cracks me up. Norm was the best.
Conan: I shoulda warned you about him 😂
It's sad when he names a snowboarding trick "The Long Suffering Death". I know he was just cracking a joke, but he secretly knew he had cancer at the time. Norm was the absolute best. Miss him so much.
How do you know that he knew at that time?
@@kevinwagner7333From what I know, He was aware of it for a long time but kept it hidden from others knowing.
Norm roasts our whole culture and then smiles his inscrutable smile. ❤😢
This vicious world of ours, seems to make our very human comedians pay a price for being maybe too intuitive, too willing to laugh at our eventual plight...Bill Hicks, Lenny Bruce, Norm of course!...it is like these people were punished for their fearlessness in making us laugh at the cruel irony of Life and Death. I do not approve!
We all miss Norm.
Every year now, ESPN shows this clip of his monologue to the new host of their espys show as a teaching lesson of what you can’t do on ESPN . Norm was a legend.
Brutally honest, Classic NORM
If only Norm could see the Nuggets now.
They didn't like that OJ joke, hahaha.
Ken Griffey Jr.'s reaction was the best
Like Jr. didn’t know OJ did it. He just didn’t like it being said out loud. Meanwhile, Norm gives no shits. 😂😂
“This show has interns”” hilarious!! Norm killing it again!!
The puzzled looks are priceless. Norm lived to befuddle while he pondered the big picture.
15:00 the way norm looked & said “the long suffering DEATH” is flippin hilarious
He invented that grab.
Norm’s a genius!!!
The best monologs are the ones that make the live audience super uncomfortable.
8:27 that really ominous ringing really makes the next lines about murder kind of terrifying as if there is a deeper and more sinister meaning underneath what he is saying
Norm is so proud of himself in that Blake interview lmaoo
The East German speed skater and women’s basketball jokes are coming true, at least in the swimming category.
Norm=ego buster!!!! God Bless You! Thanks God for letting us have Norm for a little while!

The bi-ped bit literally has me doubled over in stitches. Once in a generation talent.
I've often been accused of being a biped.
what about the long suffering death... bahahahahahahhaha... that clip is always removed off the internet... good to see it back

Golly I sure miss Norm. It still makes me sad
I don’t care how pretentious of a jock you are, 6:31 is funny
He went so hard at the espys Edit: and the setup with Oscar Pistorius was a work of art.
Speed walking always looks like people politely racing to the bathroom.
Norm hosting the ESPY’s. He saw blood in the water and had a feast.
“Blake’s good friend” 😂😂

Well, at least Pistorious didn't kill a waiter. I can't believe Norm passed that one up😊
