Hyenas Savagely Kill Buffalo Calf; Lions Attack || Masai Mara || Wild Extracts
In a case of reversed roles, the hyena kills, the lion feeds on the carcass.
Hyenas are known to be scavengers but every now and then they have to hunt and kill their own prey. Our wild extract today is on those days when hyenas are hunting and we witness a rather savage kill where the hyenas attack a buffalo calf as it tries to flee. In their power of numbers, they all try to get a piece, even dragging out its intestines until they overpower it. However, just when the hyenas kill the calf, the King of the Jungle arrives and the hyenas have to leave their meal to the lions

Sort of like the Nazis.
The cow had a short life, yes, but he fed hyenas and a lion a fine appetizer.
Horrible death to be eating alive
I would of took my car and make them think i was going to run them over
They rip out half of it's guts and it's still standing.
bad footage you edited out defining moments, for instance what was that the hyena ran off with in its mouth and the side where the buffalo had taken most damage and when the lion gained control of the kill bad footage
Did the lion drive up in that noisy Jeep?
hahaha like a drive thru
Haha
How did you guess?
The will to live only takes you so far.
They have the will to survive but you can only do it so much until you get really tired. Imagine we get tired chasing a rabbit and suddenly liona or hyenas attack us. We would be eaten alive.
I love the jackals politely waiting their turn.
Sadly the sniper Jackals are the arseholes.

The lions showing up to steal the kill is exactly why hyenas and wild dogs don't have the luxury of snuffing out their prey first, they have to eat fast even if the prey is still alive and struggling.
No it’s because they’re simply not big to actually kill the prey before eatin it.
@@vinnilittle2002 They might no be as big as lions but their bite force is much stronger than a lion. They could rather kill a big animal quickly than lions through suffocation. It's just not in their DNA and also fear of getting their hunt stolen, as killing by suffocation may take upto an hour for say a buffalo.
It didn’t look like much was left by the time they showed up anyway.

@@rosethehat2073 no, they have pain sensations just like us. You would feel everything that was happening in the first couple of minutes or so here.
@@SaadKhan-xn1xv Yes, they feel pain, but just like humans, they go into shock. Shock is why we wouldn’t feel the pain if we were to break our arm. The calf was in shock, so it didn’t feel much pain at all. It did at first I’m sure, but the endorphins soon took that away.

The buffalo calf was simply walking amidst hyenas as if saying" Live & Let die"
Why are the tourists revving the engines during the good part? Seems like they purposely distracted the hyenas and attracted the lions on purpose. 🤔

Now come on admit it. You all who have opened this video must be pampering your sadistical Nature which is present in everyone of us including me as well. Can anyone of you feel the enormous pain that calf going through at that moment, being tore open and skinned and eaten alive.. nature is raw but being human it is also required.
Prey animals feeling pain sensations in natural settings isn't important. Of course it's feeling pain. But that's its own fault (why did it get caught? Where's the herd - not that they always help anyway)?
@@SaadKhan-xn1xv I am extremely sorry to say that after reading your comment I could not understand anything. Please write in the language that you are comfortable in.
@@shaktipatnaik5091 I'm sorry to learn that you had difficulty understanding that. My point was that too many people look at wildlife with a perspective that is centered around the prey animals' pain sensations. The pain this buffalo felt has no importance in nature.
@@SaadKhan-xn1xv thank you so much for writing back. I do understand now what you are trying to say. The pain that buffalo went through had no importance in nature. Likewise every day we slaughter chicken for human consumption they also don't feel pain Too.. is this what you want to convey.
@@shaktipatnaik5091 No, it's wrong for humans to cause harm to animals (including people like me who eat meat).
Lions are such scavengers but hyenas always get that label SMH
Lions, leopards, hyenas, African wild dogs, and jackals are all opportunists. They’re predators, but will also scavenge if the opportunity arises. Even cheetahs will scavenge, but very rarely. 🤔
Lions and tigers are far better than hyenas and wild dogs...
Do You really think ? Hyenas and wild dogs are savage , but they eat fast. It's very cruel what those animals do and the way they kill . But i see lions eat prey alive as well and not fast !!! Look in KZhead how they eat warhogs alive , babyelephant, giraffe and hippo . Dead not always comes fast . Poor way to die . Africa don't show mercy to weakness and It's a struggle to survive each minute of the day/night
Yes. Lion is the King for a reason. 👑 They are great.
Better in what way exactly? Coz they don't offend your sensitive ass? The prey dies either way so what are you bitching about?
Only solo hunters like tigers or leopards kill their prey immediately. The hyenas obviously can't kill or don't know how to do it

Nature got it wrong this time, look at how long he stayed on his feet
He was basically a mobile McDonald's. If he were smarter, he would have stayed with the herd. Nature got it right.
@@ritemolawbks8012 Exactly. It is made of their food and failed to escape or defend itself. What happened to it is just the simple physical consequence of that.

Actually it is more common for lions to steal from hyenas than the reverse, ands both species kill their own food most of the time.
Lions only kill 10-30% of their diet, spotted hyenas kill 55-95% of theirs.
@@doktorhyena Both lions and hyenas kill most of their own food (above 50% at minimum, usually above 80%). Relying on scavenging (including stealing kills) just isn't energetically viable for a flightless vertebrate, especially a large one. Dead animals/kills of other predators are NOT a reliably available resource; the vastly increased search time and search effort nullifies any advantage of not having to make the kill. There's a reason vultures are the only vertebrates today that actually rely on scavenging (other vertebrates commonly called "scavengers" are actually predators or generalized omnivores). As terrestrial soaring vertebrates they can cut down on search time and search effort in a way marine, active-flying, or flightless vertebrates cannot.
I believe that shock took over, not only from pain but from fear, there is only so pain any creature can tolerate.
How was it seperated
Stupidity.
Buffalo calf are not too smart. He probably charged the hyenas thinking the adults were with him. That's a quick way to get disassembled and deactivated.
Sometimes the herd abandoned calves when they're sick or not part of the hierarchy. Also calves aren't smart to be safe tbh.
