He was a slave his whole life, killed his owner, got arrested and sent to a gladiator pit for others entertainment, which led to him fighting against Cybertron's oppressive government. I get Bumblebee and Orion Pax I get being funny in this stage of their life, but not Megatron.

I actually really like the animation and the premise. The thing that really pulls it back for me is the dialogue and jokes.
I actually think Hemsworth is doing a good job. It doesn't sound like he's just trying to do a Peter Cullen imitation, but he's not just using his normal voice either. I'm excited!
I honestly don’t mind the humor, because the G1 show was riddled with humor. So I’m actually excited to see a movie about what happened before Prime was still Orion 😊

I always loved transformers since I was a kid, and I’m excited to see how Optimus prime and Megatron in the movies became friends to the sworn arch enemies that we know them for today.
when chris hemsworth says as one he sounds exactly like peter cullen which is awesome. I can see exactly how these characters could become who we saw in bumblebee.

Personally, I think Optimus Prime's history with Megatron is one of the most interesting parts of the Transformers franchise. My personal favorite version was Transformers Prime, where Optimus and Megatron were friends until their ideas conflicted, leading to the War for Cybertron. So naturally, I am curious to see how this movie goes, and I hope it's not going to be like what we got with the War For Cybertron Trilogy on Netflix.
The animation and action looks great, its the dialogue and overall unseriousness that pulls me out.
Yeah, the humor seems to be leaning more into animated children's films territory. The way it's looking it seems it could bring new younger fans into the fanbase. Though I'd love it if for a sequel they drastically shift tone and do an full on War for Cybertron film with this animation style.
War hasn't started yet I'm sure by the end there will be a tone change and a sequel planned

Feels like a shameless cash grab but maybe this film might surprise me, great animation ofc but Ive got one gripe I have, which is that the main group of characters don’t transform from the get go, which goes against the main gimmick of transformers. They don’t need a McMuffin to transform, btw the T-Cog from Transformers Prime doesn’t count. Edit: look I know that in cybertronian lore they learn the ability of transformation (thank you @MaverickMagnus for the reminder) and I’m ok with that part of the lore. But the main characters of this film are generations after the first ones who discover transformation, not having the transformers not transforming without a McMuffin is sort of blasphemous
Beast Machines stated that the first cybertronians didnt know how to transform. They had to learn it. :p

Man. A so called "McMuffin" (great pun btw lol) but a McGuffin or whatever it's spelt is when an artifact or a generic object that everyone (or everthing) within the movie is forced to pursue for the sake of the plot. But in Transformers One, the T-Cog isn't a McGuffin because it's not part of the plot. This is a completely different continuity as far as I know because I think they explained it being in its continuity at one point. So it's obvious that the Transformers won't know how to transform easily because this is lore not everyone will immediately understand the second they watch a Transformers film.
While the animation looks great I just hope this movie is more serious than this trailer makes it out to be because this humor feels very MCU.
As someone so turned off from the MCU nowadays the last thing I need is for other franchises to start feeling that way 💀

@@sgtroach1510 the problem is it feels like the kinda humor they’ve specialized in. This humor isn’t Stepbrothers or Talladega Nights humor, or Grown Ups or Happy Gilmore humor, or Ghostbusters or Austin Powers humor. It’s not even Deadpool humor. This is the kinda humor you see in the MCU movies.
I was not expecting comedy, much less this kind of comedy when they announced a new animated transformers movie.

@@Saiyan1229kids are going to be the main audience. That’s probably why they took the more comedic tone to introduce a new generation. If it gets more serious as it goes, I think it’ll be fine. I wish they’d gone with the Transformers Prime version of Orion and Megatronis, but I’ll probably go see it before judging it too harshly myself.
i don't know why people complaining about this, they told us BEFORE it will be animated transformers movie, for me the animation almost look like war of cybertron game and the detail is awesome and good and there's some comedy, action, and brotherhood between young Op and Young Megatron, the kids would love to watch this i can't wait to see the second trailer

People are complaining because they changed up the entire origins on optimus and megatron. Everyone was expecting a mature tone, as we were told it would be their origins and how the war started. But no we get a childish movie where Megatron is cracking jokes

I woke up for this at 6am but it didn't start until an hour later. As a huge transformers fan, I was disappointed 😅😭

I have a great respect for them showing the younger version of optimus and the others. Really shows their dynamic with one another and how life was before the war for cybertron, showing they weren't always battlehardened stoic warriors.
You know the GIF of Thor in Thor Ragnarok, when he recognizes Hulk in the arena? That expression = my actual face in response to this trailer.

I actually do like this a lot. The voices are growing on me and I hope they dont exaggerate with the humor. But visually this looks so fucking goooood.

I think many people are pre-judging it way too soon. The director has already confirmed that the first trailer focused on the buddy elements as well as the humor because he wants it to be welcome and inviting. However, the film is about the divergent paths that both Optimus & Megatron begin to take that eventually leads to the war and that it will get dark quickly. This is supposed to be a trilogy...this first movie is only the beginning. By the end when it's all said and done, I believe finally seeing the relationship Optimus & Meg had as friends will make the tragic turns that the war takes even more poignant. In addition, the Transformers Bible was used to craft the film. People forget stuff like the psuedo-organic life like Turbofoxes are straight up from G1...Mirage used to hunt Turbofoxes, remember? The fact that in G1, Transformers couldn't transform and didn't have their cogs...they were oppressed by the Quintessons. This looks the same thing...the Quintessons are oppresing the Transformers and both Megs and Optimus rise up against them. Even Megatron's D-16 identity is a callback to the Japanese naming convention as well as Marvel Comic's black helmeted early Megs. Starscream, Shockwave, and Soundwave all look bang on if you pause that throne room scene. I'm excited and I think this will turn out way better than some of the G1 grognards are giving it. Hell, the Quintessons look badazz. I'm amped for it. Poeple need to give it time and a couple more trailers. This is for the kids but it's also going to end up being more darker in the end. And hearing Peter Cullen's voice when he says One gave me chills!

I honestly don't have enough invested in the mythology of the series to know if this movie is accurate or not. To me this looks like a good fine family movie.

The animation 🤩 I know we’re in for something special with this. The tone was unexpected though and I don’t think Brian Tyree Henry is right for Megatron. But I love the sound of Chris Hemsworth as Orion Pax and Scarlett Johansson as Elita-1.

"Robots in disguise"? Didnt we lost that in the original series? I mean..Trypticon, the Terrorcons, Dinobots, Ravage, most of te Season 3 cast. xD None of them tried to hide anymore. :p
In fairness when you were talking about the distinctiveness about transformers, we’ve never had a move fully show how it was just a normal planet at one point (even with the horrible class systems) and how it evolves to get to where the idea of transformers came from. The buddy movie would work very well if it shows how tragic optimus and megatrons fallout was.
If you didn’t know Prime & Megatron were brothers in arms/friends before the war, this might not make sense to you. This is a great view of how it was before the war. Expecting all out Autobot vs Decepticon battles might not be in this. But, a nice look before they became enemies…

So robots were once kids. Odd. This may not have any humans in it, but these robots act too human.

This feels like Transformers the Spoof with the humour, but it might even out. Having been a G1 fan and also a fan of the original movie which was dark for us 80's kids. Going in lukewarm but might surprise us.

This is gonna be one of those roller coaster movies, we'll see orion rise to being a leader while Megatron falls into his quest for revenge and power. From pure humor to pure war, plus the humor looks like it'll be actually fun and not some cringe forced punchline
I was just saying while he's producer, he's not Directing or writting it. He did so much damage to the Transformers, it feel it was the reason Bumblebee did not make more at the Box Office.

The director of Toy Story 4 has my attention. This looks like fun. The Transformer First Class is a great description. (And watch everyone in the comments pretend that the kid toy franchise made as a kids cartoon series about alien robots that turn into cars having jokes in it means its the worse instantly. Here's the thing, in the past, we've had awesome TF trailers and some movies turned out to be crap. So why couldn't the opposite be true here? A crappy trailer could turn out to be an excellent movie. They clearly made this trailer to appeal to a younger audience, but if you really look deeper into it, you'll see a whole lot of TF lore. Alot of folks are complaining about the voices. Younger less experienced bots will sound a bit different. We sounded different while growing into our adult selves, why can't they? Furthermore, this is more then just the beginning of the Autobot Decepticon wars, this goes further into the past then that. This is an origin story about the entire transformers race rising up against their oppressors (which I believe are the quintisons), its a revolutionary war they'll be fighting. And I'm betting toward the end of the movie, they'll be a divide in idealities between OP and Megs leading to them parting ways at the end. The Autobot/Decepticon war will not be the primary focus of the film. Don't let the kiddyness of this trailer fool you, or ruin your perception of how good the movie will be. I reserve my judgment for when the movie comes out.

Looks good, but has that Anakin & Obi-Wan vibe, because we know hat will happen. Also I hope there will be an Original Score, and not just rock music. And I very happy that Bay's is not part of this.
After watching it more, I don't mind it as much, but hopefully it gets a more mature tone towards the end of the movie

There’s a lot of lore here that’s borrowing from quite a bit. Yeah, it looks very humorous in tone, but I have a sneaking suspicion that there’s some darkness here hidden underneath that could be saved for later.

I like it. They easily could've just done more of the same. It would have been the easy choice. But I like the idea of exploring the time before, it's something that really hasn't been touched in that much. It's fresh. I'm looking forward to it.
I think this is refreshing, I always found the human characters distracted the story too much and the Transformers story was consider B if not C plot in the films. Seeing they have yet to begin the first Cybertronian civil war, (The war before the Great War that kicked off once they awoke on earth) I think this works. Megatron hasn't fully been formed, he's D-16 now, he's young inexperienced. But I feel as film goes on, it will grow darker. I just say wait and see, I think this is what we need. I'm tired of psychopath Movie Optimus, I like this younger Orion Pax. and it could be what leads to a war for Cybertron storyline in a sequel, we gotta see.
I find it kinda weird this trailer had a bit before the beginning of it, but the teaser for Deadpool & Wolverine didn't.
I think everyone might have to take a breath and realise these properties are very much originally for kids. Haha, I know it’s strange seeing Prime and Megatron like this. We’ll see maybe it will become darker as the movie progresses.

That's because everyone is so use to the whole war/tragedy between these guys but this movie shows what it was like before all of that so it's not surprising that it has a different set of tone

It's an honest reaction to me watching the trailer. This is what actually happened. I'm too subtle for some. Others still think I'm faking things. But it's my reaction....no acting or exagerrating.
I was thrown off guard because of its jokey tone and not casting Peter Cullen and Frank Welker as Optimus Prime and Megatron. The concept of the origin of the Transformers on how Orion Pax and D-16 went from becoming friends to enemies as Optimus Prime and Megatron. But, I can't help like the excicution left alot to be desired.

I'm VERY CURIOUS about this movie the trailer hasn't really sold me on it but I'll hold all opinions until I see the movie
