This is Optimus Prime hundred of years before they crash ti earth. So a young voice is needed

it seems lighthearted but it HAS to go dark at some point to show what goes wrong between the two and they become bitter enemies.

Peter Cullen isn't voicing Optimus because this is meant to be 'Young Optimus/Orion Pax", pretty much pre-Optimus, by the end of the movie, Orion will turn into Optimus and then will be Voice by Peter Cullen around the end of the movie
They'll definitely bring peter Cullen back in the movie when Orion pax gets the matrix of leadership and becomes Optimus prime.
THAT would be a cool way to end the movie!
Honestly I’d prefer if they get someone else like garry chalk or david kaye when he becomes optimus. Or even just have chris hemsworth do a deeper voice but not to the level of peter cullen. Don’t get me wrong peters voice is legendary but its way too old for a just recently reformatted optimus prime. So something thats younger than war on earth optimus, yet noticeably more wise and stern that orion pax
Or just let Chris with his deeper voice do the thing. This is trilogy and the civil war just getting started, I think young Optimus not old enough to be voice by Peter Cullen yet. Maybe the next movie Peter Cullen should voice him when the war go on climax it took more than hundred year and Optimus old and experience enough we will have back the level of Optimus Prime we want
That voice that Peter Collins does, his prime is a voice of his brother Larry, who is in the military the marines 1:43
The origins of prime and megatron can differ on like what unicerse its from take Transformers Prime example Orion Pax was a archivist studing, reading books, learning about the original 13 primes and Megatron or as his fighter name Megatronus one of the 13 primes names
The movie is not comedy, it's actually a tragedy, the trailer they shown was technically just some Funny small Moments of the movie. The story will go very dark each minute. Also talking about Baby Transformers, you should really see Transformers Rescue Academy and tell me difference between This Transformers movie and that show 😅
I think its starting lighter so they can go darker. If its always dark, it wont be as dynamic.
It is going to be a triology, where we get deeper into the war and they evolve into optimus and megatron. As we get further into this triilogy it will likely get way darker.
So its gonna be like a heisei gamera trilogy, most likely even ending on a seemingly bad ending with Megatrons initiation of the war
I promise it you kids are not the only target audience, the movies goal is to pretty much act as a vague prequel to all transformers media that doesn't have a pre-cybertronian war story, so the movie has ties and references to almost ever Transformers media, ranges from the TV shows, to the Comics, and the Movies, and I think the videogames
I hope the “goofiness” will lead to it being more “emotional” Agree they’re babies right now not literally lol but it’s gonna be messed up if that’s how they were and how optimis became more protective. I was disappointed the first time I saw it and confused but rewatched a few times and am getting excited.

Make no mistake I suspect it will still be serious, considering what has to occur I see a really good potential for this movie to suprise people ( or drop the ball but I’m hoping the former❤) that one spot in the trailer Chris almost sounded like Peter Cullen atleast like cadence wise ( probably when he fully becomes Optimus prime from Orion pax

I think it looks great. Excited to see it...tons of call backs to all the different continuities. Megatron looks like his early Marvel Comics and G1 Commercial iteration. You can hear Peter Cullen's voice at the end when Orion Pax becomes Optimus Prime. The characters look close to their G1 counterparts at the end. Soundwave, Starscream and Shockwave look perfect. The director has already said that the first trailer was about the buddy element and the comedy, however, the movie is longer than that and later on you begin to see how Optimus and Megatron start to take divergent paths. This is supposed to be a trilogy as well. When you see Megs stamp the Decepticon logo on his chest...that's when you know this is going to get dark. He looks badazz.
There is a reason this is animated, there is a reason its not rated R, the target audience is children. 🤷🏿♂️
No children transformers fans will be traumatized by this movie. A lot of adult die hard fans&collectors will be disappointed and might boycott it.

I'm weirded out by Optimus having been made a miner in this (instead of librarian or cop like in the other iterations), and Megatron being the one to be too scared to go explore the outer world... that's just not him at all
There are bound to be changes when it comes to an alternate universe. It's just a matter of getting used to it.
